Hey, well I bought the quiet baffles and installed them. You were right, there was a baffle in the pipes, not hard to get them out, just black and dirty...lol. The installation was simple and quick. End result....sweet sound!!! thanks for your help man.
I looked at my pipes and I think that there are no baffle in them at all, no end caps either. That would probably explain the loud raspy soumd when I crank the throttle. Hey thanks for your help on this man. Think I am going to order the "quiet" baffles and give them a try. Maybe the neighbours will like me a little more after that lol.
Hey man, nice clip. I just bought a 2005 Yamaha Raodstar and it has the same pipes on it as your bike. It is quite loud, especially when you throttle it. I love the deep goran the bike makes though. So I was wondering if you thought the Quiet Core Baffle is worth the money. Are they easy to install or should I have the dealer put them on for me? Appreciate any adice or help on this man. Oh and thank for posting the clip.
Hi @mike462005, the Cobra quiet core baffles are easy to install. There's a total of 4 screws involved (2 per pipe). The old baffles slide out pretty easy - you just have to find something that can reach in and grab the baffle. If you shine a flashlight inside (after taking off the end-cap), you'll see something to grab on the baffle so you can pull it out. The new baffles insert easily and the only challenge is just getting the screw hole lined up. But it's pretty easy.
And some owners have said they thing Cobra should have made the quiet core baffles standard. I think the tone and sound will vary though from bike to bike, but I think you'll like them.
Hey thanks fo rthis clip. I have the same pipes on my Roadstar 1700 and she is quite loaud to say the least. I am thinking of putting the "quiet" baffle in to soften it up a bit.
@facesit2 It's been pretty cool to have both the original baffles and the quiet core baffles. I can swap them out in about 10 minutes, and it's been interesting to experiment. You can get some 3M fiberglass cloth from a local auto parts store and do some interesting things that also changes the sound. Good luck!
Great Vid Bro! Looks like I'll be going for Quiet Baffles with Smartpartz add-ons!
