There is absolutely no need to hold a submission on a student that is flailing and tapping out over and over, that is goddamn ridiculous and comes off as extremely unprofessional. I would never train or recommend anyone to train at a school with this kind of conduct.
@Kazmundio Dont worry.Mostly it is just an act.I know i train Hapkido for a year now and you must act a little to put on a show without having great pain like you show
Glad to see this. I did a search on here to see if my hunch on Korean grappling exist, seeing that Korean and Japanese martial arts and cultures are very similar.
I come from the Gracie system, with a little background in Tang Soo and Hapkido. And I have to say. This guy could hand some ass to quite a few of the BJJ guys I know. Bravo, perfect technique.
Lol I watched this video the first time, and it flashed before my eyes. Hahaha, I had to watch it like 7 times before really seeing what happened. All I saw was him tapping out.
@BakaYaru13 it's a Toe Hold. He was mixing different grappling styles in this demo (quite brilliantly, I might add). He used an inside leg scoop takedown, rolled inside, and dug his shin into the side of the knee, then pulled on the toe/instep inward... basically, it's a Toe Hold (with knee compression).
Im 34 years in Wrestling 3 time state champ, 2 time national champ greco and freestyle, 1st dan in Judo, 2 yeas sombo, 3rd dan in Ju-Jitsu, kenpo black belt, and 1st dan Hopkido black belt and going to work out this to master and more since all this is Hopkido.
NOW THIS IS an art I want to learn, a mix of tae kwon do (which I already do), karate for the toughness, and jujitsu for the awesome ground fighting. Man I want to see more combos of different martial arts out there.
even if it is hapkido or yudo or judo or sambo it is actually jiujitsu. At this video no wristlocks so more doin jiujitsu than hapkido ( tkd + aikijitsu )
at which second beating guy doin one tkd technique ?
not on this one video. but there are others where he is doing wrist locks, and hapkido throws. jujutsu is reknowned for it's wristlocks...i assume you are referring to bjj..which is just judo ne-waza anyway at its root. and technically hapkido is not tkd and aikijujutsu. it's taekyun, aikijujutsu and other things as well. again, i wasn't referring to this video only, watch more of his videos, you will see plenty of tkd, hapkido, and yudo.
also if you want to look at it that way...they're actually partly doing kung fu as well. since the japanese arts were heavily influenced by china. but it's silly to say china, japan, okinawa, tibet, thailand all had indigenous martial arts, but korea did not. the similarities to jap. karate is not coincidental. tkd/tsd is largely based on japanese karate.
:) thank you brad i didnt check the others. But i am repeating all kicks and hands "on this video" (thats why i said the same before) is ashihara type. you are right about hapkido roots but i feel like hankido is taekyon+aikijitsu not hapkido. I mean not historicaly but tecnically. I agree with u all others. You know well about MA man !!!! :))
the kicks in hapkido and tkd (the high and spinning kicks especially) both come from taekyon. so naturally hankido (which is based on hapkido) has taekyon kicks as well. but the founder of hankido studied aikido...and brought the arts closer together, quite a bit softer than traditional hapkido. but still considered a system of hapkido by most people. i never heard he studied aikijujutsu though. but...they all have a common heritage.

Rare is the day I find a submission I've never seen, but what's the thing called that he does at 2:50?

@BakaYaru13 Just a calf crank. Puts pressure on the knee, similarly to a heel hook, but the energy is lateral instead of torsional.
