@Jag I did a comparison of my remastered TFD and yours last nite before I went to bed. The main difference is that mine has more mid range and bass which really adds to the impact of the bass, tom toms and bass drums. By comparison, yours is very clean and pure.
Big Band Stereo is a very nice album overall with TFD, Concerto to End All Concertos and Omo Ado being the standouts. I'll be happy to send you a copy of my remastered Big Band Stereo.
Man alive, does this ever bring back sweet memories!!! I first heard this when my Dad bought a Capitol album called "Big Band Stereo" SW1055 way back in the very early days of stereo, 1957. This album also has Kenton's original "Concerto to End All Concertos" in stereo and a terrific Johnny Richards big band performing "Omo Ado." I remastered this album onto cd several years ago.
Thanks sooooo much for your remaster. It sounds terrific!!!!
@Gefreiter44 Glad you enjoyed this track. Lots of people mention "Big Band Stereo" SW1055. Since you remastered this album to CD, I sure would like to hear it. Especially the two tracks that you claim to be original. The LP copies that I got a hold of did'nt even stay in the groove. (wallhangers) ..try to post them on youtube and I will be the first one to listen. Thanks again ... Jag
Dan Ingram used the last few minutes of this number as his closing theme on both WABC in the 60s-70s and WCBS-FM in the 80s-2000s. And on both stations, the news always followed!
@Avatar610 I remember that like it was yesterday, this is why I posted this restoration for all of us Dan Ingram fans from way back then. I got a new two transistor Radio for my birthday back then and this was the first thing I heard on it. So, how does it sound?
You might want to update the info on the album (check your names spellings). The album showing is Capitol ST 1553, which was issued in March, 1961. It's Mono counterpart (Capitol T 1553) was called !WILD! HI-FI DRUMS. Capitol T 926 (issued in mono only) was called HI-FI DRUMS, issued in January, 1958. "Tri-Fi Drums" was the only common track between both lps.
@SleepingLionGuy1 The posted description is to show the availability of the track (Tri-Fi-Drums) not the album. It was actually released on four albums which I have. This Stereo track was restored from the Cap.ST 1553 release. Someone said to me that this song was released as a 7"in '45' abridged short version. I have never seen one though. I do not see any mispelling, but if you can aim at it I will make the correction. Hope you enjoyed the track without the usual vinyl characteristics.
@jagandglo Sure I will! Billy May Orchestra meant to me the sound of US decadesd ago. One of the best tracks of drums solo I ever heard (besides this one), was "Skin deep" with Duke Ellington and Louis Benson! Thanks!

@jagandglo spellings are (according to the albums themselves) Stan "Levey" and Bill "Holman". What are the other 2 album sources for the track...?
SleepingLionGuy1 3 months ago
@SleepingLionGuy1 Mannn, you are sharp, I made the corrections and fired the secretary. The four I have is:
Cap. ST 1553 Posted
Cap. T 1553 Mono counterpart
Cap. ST 1553 1966 reissue from Spain- Tambores, with credits in spanish and higher quality vinyl
Cap. T 926 Last track on LP in mono
Thanks, Jag
