i bought this single in ireland when this came out in 73 at 10 years old. i thought it rocked and always had this tune in my head since then. great to see them do a tv
Blues songs are handed down and transformed in the tradition that art and culture has always followed. I'm sure Mungo appreciated Dutronc as much as I do-- wasn't a big hit song for them anyway.
Do I care where the song came from or who wrote the words? I mostr certainly do not - what I DO care about is that this was a STONKING track and provided a welcome alternative to all the other glam-rock and Osmond-orientated stuff in the UK chart during July 1973! Ther reason toes were put on the end of your feet!!! :)
Listen for great music like this on a new radio station called "OffTheCharts" - featuring 70's (and some 80's) lost hits and chart wonders!

THIS TAKES ME BACK TO THE SUMMER OF 1973 (MY VERY FIRST HOLIDAY WITHOUT MY PARENTS) WHICH WAS SPENT IN LLORET DE MA\R (AGE 19) WHICH SEEMED TO BE PLAYED IN ALL DISCOS WE WENT TO EVEN NOW IT MAKES ME WANT TO GET UPAND DANCE TO IT!
This one is good and quite well known but if you ask me, I don't think it's more or less like Jacques Dutronc's version which is better. But that's just my opinion. And he looks better... but I'm not gay.
This is the song used to promote Solo soft drink in Australia. It is played during broadcasts of the A-League matches. I'm not sure if Mungo Jerry's version is used in the advert.

First single I ever bought, cost me 35p. I still remember them on top of the pops and deciding that I wanted sideburns like Ray's.
Happy memories.

@jessegrd071163 - Hallo' Jesse, always Nadine is writing.
This is also a good interpretation, even if not written by Ray.

Jacques Dutronc is the original.A cool french pop star!
patlaws 2 years ago 2
It was his first hit in Summer 1966 and the song is called "Et moi, et moi, et moi".
Mungo Jerry covered it in 1973. I don't like this band but I must say this song is their best one.
