She might wish to fix that hairline so it looks like a geisha's, not onnagata.

@jkca7x That's a common mistake to think, but they weren't. The reason people think so is because geisha became rare just after WW2. Normal girls dressed up as geisha, and were indeed prostitutes, but not real geisha.

the one thing i have to say about japanese tattoos... tattoos are not socially acceptable in japan anywhere except maybe among westernized rebelious teens and twenty somethings. so when you get a japanese tattoo you have utterly missed something so huge that you can not possibly understand what your tattoo actually means. if you just say "i think it looks cool," that different and that's fine but you can't get a tattoo to represent a culture that is anti-tattoos.

My grandmother freaked out when she knew that I had two tattoos and I couldn't get into a traditional rouykan because I had my tats in the back. Although, they are more lenient towards foreigners but still a very negative taboo with the older generation..not so much with the younger generation because they have become westernized. My friend got kicked out of a gym for even having a quarter size tattoo.

@sxystar41 yea, my friend had a similar experience when we stayed at ryoukan in kyoto. he couldn't go to the onsen, and i want to move over there so i decided not to get one at all. i got nothing against tattoos its just ironic when people are like "the sakura is the japanese symbol for rebirth," and then they get a tattoo of it. it makes you wonder what japanese has to do with it at all. just say you think it looks cool. don't pretend you really give a shit about japan, you know?

Although sakura is a national flower and title of the national anthem of Japan. Also, I thought the Koi represented a racking status in the yakuza... I read that somewhere...if you have one that means your up there..maybe I'm wrong... Most of these are JUST Japanese art from the meiji period.

The japanese do celebrate ancestral worship. In Buddhism, the belief is after death is rebirth.... that's a whole different story but my point is I HATE ignorant people that make stupid assumptions like this....
