You are welcome! The main reason I posted it was because I could explain it but with the visual you can understand how it is applied. I've done this for 4 years and it is still the best thing for calming my son.
Thanks for showing me, my OT didn't get enough time with me to do a session on this but she explained it to me. So I understand how it works, and now with this video I can see how to do it. It's already working, thank you :-)
I have autism myself and my parents tried this and it only made my meldowns worse. When my parents tried to compress my head, it felt as if they were smashing concrette bricks on it. I can't ever remember my parents compressing my knuckles, toes or ankles. I think they had a lousy OT show them how to to it. My meltdowns got worse after joint compression.
My OT just advised me to begin joint compression therapy at home. Showing this video to my 3 year old son before we began was very helpful because he saw how calm your son was and that put him at ease. He really enjoys the compressions. Do you do brushing technique as well or just the compresions? Thanks again for such an informative and helpful video.
I am not a teacher or a therapist. Another mother asked me how to do this, so I put it up here for her to view. Do not pull on joints, this could cause injury.
This has been wonderful for my son
We want to try the brushing next since he is obsessed with brushing my hair

Thank you! My OT just described this as a therapy today, but it's nice to see it done!

This is great! A friend asked me how I do it, and I was going to upload my vid, but since yours is so great, I will pass it on!

That is very interesting. Is this a form of OT?
