I am having some difficulty with the battery wire. mine is not quite snugging into place. will there be a click of some sort? I have it plugged into my computer, but its saying "Please wait, Low Battery". Should I just wait or is my wire maybe broken??
@Skablam0793 If the "Low Battery" warning does not go away after 15 minutes, then the battery is probably not connected correctly. The ribbon cable for the battery just gets pushed into the connector on the logic board. If you are confident in your installation and are still finding the "Low battery" message, you may have an issue with the main electronics board and not the battery.
question MY Ipod wont come on...only the apple logo is restating off and on...I have tried to reset it, by pressing the menu and center buttons but this is not working...I have charged it as will but nothing is working...what can I do now?
@grammygam If the hard reset does not work you can attempt to put it into Disk Mode by holding the Center + Play/Pause button. The proper way to do this is to toggle the hold switch on, then off; hold center + menu. Once the screen "fizzles" out then hold the Center + Play/Pause buttons. Shortly the display will go black and white and you may be able to get a connection to iTunes so as you can do a restore. If none of this works, you would need to send it in for a Diagnosis.
@MsPamkitty That is tricky, if the device shows no display when plugged into a wall charger you may have an issue with the main electronics board. The original issue with the clickwheel could have been a main electronics board issue from the beginning. In some cases when you disassemble the device and reassemble it, there will be a need for a hard reset (hold menu and center button at the same time). If your center button functions you can do this reset, if it does not then you need a board.
@MsPamkitty the center button is not connected to anything it just sits between the faceplate and the board, being held in position by the rest of the clickwheel. If you were to completely disassemble the device down to just the logic board you can then change the clickwheel out with a new one, or re-seat the center button to make better contact with the actual button on the board. There is a black "pad" on the logic board that takes up the space from the button to the board, this pad may be off
@dvdfabber if the charging port on the device is not functioning properly you would need a main electronics board, though if the device connects intermittently then you may need a hard drive for the device. I cannot be certain without having the device with us right now. We do have a Diagnosis service, for $25.00 that would be able to source out the exact issue with the device then report those findings to you.
@gphjr142 It may be a deeper issue than just the LCD screen. We would suggesting sending the iPod in so our technicians can take a look at the iPod and see what the problem may be. Check out our website for more information.
This is the best video showing how to replace a broken LCD screen. Thanks for showing how to put it all back together after. No one else showed that. Only thing is make sure you remember to put the screws back in. Its not mentioned in any of the videos so hopefully people wont forget about that part. Thanks again!!
ok my ipod video needed a new hard drive and screen, and i already have the replacement parts but am having trouble putting it back together (black tabs are irritating) , could you guys assemble it ?
@pathesta We only install parts that were purchased through us. If they were then you can send the parts and the iPod to us and we can install them for $25. Thank you and have a great day!
Not sure why I didn't pursue this 2 years ago but I just finished replacing the lcd in my classic that my dog chewed up back when I got this.
Fuck Apple for being so greedy. They make the case a bitch and a half to open (I used the thumbtack way if anyone wants to know). My case is a little bent from the process.
Beats sending it in to Apple though. A $12 fix. It is really easy once you open it up.
hey do you know if a 5th generaion ipod video screen would work for a 6 th generation ipod video.. i have it from a friend said he got two in the mail from amazon but i dont want to open my 80 gb for nothing my current screen is cracked from the top and want to replace it..

Hi, i know i have a broken screen for my ipod video, but i dont know what is wrong with my headphone jack, only one side of my headphones will work with any pair of headphones. even brand new. i dont know if it is the jack itself or the ribbon.
if my screen is "staticy/blurry" and has lines running down it, will this do the trick (you can still hear the music) or is it something else that i need to do to it.
I've replaced my LCD screen, however my iPod doesn't recharge like it used to anymore - as in, it doesn't recharge at all. The only way I can get it to work if it's plugged into AC power. Any ideas? New battery needed perhaps? It's weird considering that the battery was fine a few weeks ago.
I have a question. My iPod's LCD has unwanted lines or dots on it and it bugs me everytime I see it... I feel there's something wrong with the LCD. Is there other solutions aside from replacing the LCD?
Check the LCD ribbon connector. It needs to be inserted fully and the tab needs to be locked down completely, otherwise you will get an all white or all black screen.
so i successfully put in the new lcd, pushed the ribbon cable connecting the lcd to the motherboard into its slot, and while attempting to ensure the best possible connection between the screen and board i ended up removing the black tab from the connector entirely. it is proving extremely difficult to put back in. do you have any suggestions, or can i just leave it out and hope the screen and motherboard stay well connected?
i paid 36 and some change for a screen from this website... it came with printed instructions for the repair... but i used youtube... thumbs up because of you i have my music back...
I can't figure out how to remove the cable from the hard drive... I have the 6th gen ipod and I don't see the "black tab" you are talking about. Help? Same with the battery cable!
It will open like it shows in the video. Start in the middle of the side pressing from the top (faceplate) into the groove toward the bottom (back plate) and you should be able to create an opening. Then run the tool around the iPod until it works free.
We will install the LCD for $25. Please visit our website for more information.
This is a great video. Can you post any pictures of how the connectors are supposed to be connected? When I first dids this, my hard drive was connected backwards, which caused a sad face icon and mild panic attack. I reopened it set the connection properly and it worked just fine after that.

Yes, it is the same except that the case is harder to get open. Once inside the only difference is that there is a metal plate behind the LCD. It comes out when you remove the faceplate screws.

You will need the LCD (the exact one you require for your make of iPod can be found on their website), the plastic opening tools, and a #0 precision Philips screwdriver.
Id also recommend wearing an ESD bracelet, which grounds you at all times so you don't damage the semiconductor components in your device. This isn't NEEDED though.

As the video here shows, you need the screwdriver to take off the six screws that hold the case assembly together. ESD stands for electro static discharge. its like when you rub your feet on the carpet and touch a doorknob. Except that electronic devices are very sensitive to them. you can damage your device from esd without feeling it. These bracelets are relativly cheap.(I got mine for $6) You should look to see if it's just the LCD that's broken. you might need to order a faceplate as well.
