John Cipollina didn't play lead on the recorded version of Fresh Air - he did background fills and riffs on that one - that was Duncan's weeping guitar you're mistaking for Cipollina's.
Without wanting to lead the charge of the geezers brigade, I can't help thinking about how much many great bands they were in the late 60s and early 70s.
Dino is an amazing performer and just a big a part of Quicksilver as any of the other members. I do think it was his band before he went to jail. He has a killer voice and I love the keyboards on this. This is by far my favorite version of the band.
Hey! A while back there was something on youtube with these hippie kids grooving in their living room to a Quicksilver Messenger Service song. Can that be placed back on?? I LOVED that song and the video!
I LOVE the way Duncan does a Jazz square as he solos. He's got the moves musically and otherwise... He's getting some magical tones out of that SG though I loved his fat-sounding Firebird a lot. In truth Duncan is awesome no matter which guitar he plays.
I know. Don't like 'em without him that much. I need that twangy lightning ya know.. to me that is what made QS sound unique. They are just ok without him, just another band... The shimmering waves of brightness went with him...
Leaving Maui, or just the palm fringed lands with warm air and water, if not too late, move to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam, very cheap to live and Great ppl! Good luck, dude! Or the Philippines, just like living in the US of A, but 1/4 the price. All speak English, even the TV!

Love Duncan's tone. He was my main inspiration to start playing way back in the day.

Some great jazzy fills.
Duncan's weeping guitar really grabs one, doesn't it?

This is pitiful without John Cipollina playing lead. A bad joke.

Sweet. When this song came out I was a teenager living on Maui. Now I'm an old fart in Minnesota. Where did I go wrong? Ah---memories---
