dana white is the worst thing that ever happened to pride...but the best thing that ever happened for the ufc...that being said pride is ichiban! no.1!
PRIDE was fantastic, better than the UFC will ever be. But they were pretty much done when Zuffa bought them out. PRIDE's contract with Fuji TV (which accounted for most of their revenue) was cancelled following a Yakuza scandal, leaving them high, dry and broke. I miss PRIDE as much as any true MMA fan and I do believe that Zuffa had good intentions when they bought them out, but shit happens. Japan is a lot more corrupt than they want people to know. I hate Dana White, but I doubt he's lying.
@nutsack325 You bring up a good point. Love him or hate him... at least DW is honest. I personally think the positive things he has done for the sport of MMA far outweigh any complaints. He probably DID want to keep PRIDE alive when he and the Fertittas bought it. Just like they kept the WEC alive and thriving after buying it.
@Godzillabatman I really don't think so, man...all they wanted to do was suck the life out of Pride...Dana stated that he had the intention of pulling all the stars with drawing power OUT of Pride and into the UFC...I wouldn't be suprised if Zuffa was the one behind the Shukan Gendai/PRIDE scandal
@maxpower789z No offense intended, but to suggest that Zuffa was somehow involved in the Pride scandal, would be an extreeeeme leap. There is 100% zero supporting fact behind that. You are the first person I have ever seen to even suggest it. And of course he wanted to pull out all the star power fighters. He is a promoter and a businessman. He is still doing that now with fighters like Jake Shields ect.

@Godzillabatman Haha, I know...It's just a conspiracy theory I came up with, but I think there may be some truth behind it...consider where Zuffa's money comes from...casino money is far from clean...I'm not calling the Fertitas or Dana gangsters, but I definitely wouldn't count out the possibility of any ties to organized crizzime
@nutsack325 also,the two shows in the us probably hurt them financially and they did that in a span of few months.i heard they let a few people in for free on the first us show just to pack the place. i remember hardcores showed up though,based on crowd reaction (remember when fujita,yoshida took the mic)

There were rumors of the Yakuza taking over Pride and that's also when Sakuraba left Pride aswell. Though i will say this. Dana's no choir boy himself. He's not adversed to using cheap tactics to try and hold competition down
