@shilsyk I would do it gradually..it may be too much of a shock for your system at first, same visa-versa if a vegetarian suddenly starts eating meat; they get sick (hint)
Americans tend to take in twice the amount of protein they need already, which can be a bad thing; diseases cancers possible weight gain etc.
And there are a lot of vegetables/fruits/grains with high protein value some of the strongest are beans; soy probably being the highest, most beans vary from 15-20 grams per cup.
I have been a vegetarian for 21 years now, had two childen and nursed them on a vegetarian diet and my son has been a vegetarian his whole life. We supplement a bit with iron and a multivitamin but most of the anemic patients I meet are meat eaters. A balanced and varied diet of fruits, , legumes, nuts, seeds and grains (and eggs and dairy, if you like) is the healthiest.
I've been vegetarian for only a month but I love it, I don't feel weak or anything, most people don't understand but whatever, I know I'm doing the right thing.
I am vegetarian for 24 years out of two reasons: I had health problems and doctors told me to stop eating meat and because I belive animals should live their lives in peace and die in natural way without violance.
@Yashodadidi the natural way of dieing is violance most people dont understand this do you think a tiger will let his prey go because he feels sorry for them......well no he doesnt he ripps there heads off and eats there liver. humans are the same we eat what we want to eat
@CrazymaniacFreak - Well, dear Mr. Freak, if tiger eats vegetarian preparations, he/she will die. If you eat vegetarian preparations, you will be healthy and happy. It is your choice, but don't forget: vegetarian person EVERY DAY saves at least one animal's life. Try just for one day, one week, one month. Experiment. Try being vegetarian and if you become sick and more unhappy, let us know.
@CrazymaniacFreak wow, i forgot that tigers raise their meat in farms that resemble nazi camps. not to be a jerk or any thing but when people say stuff like that a look at them like a nazi
There are only two foods that are good for your health: meat and eggs. If you eat ANYTHING other than these two foods, you will eventually die before age 40. So don't eat anything but meat or eggs.
goddamit people wake up being vegetarian is stupid we will allways need meat its part of our basic diet we are omnivores not herbivores if you want change you will have to mach out and scream for it
my family was the best when my oldest brother started to be veggi :) my mother asked my other brother and we decided to be veggi too :D Ok my dad still eats meat and my oldest brother started eating meat after 5 years, but my other brother and I still are veggi
I have been vegetarian for over 2 and a half years now, it all started with a college debate and everything the anti-meat people was saying I was backing them up so I asked myself why eat it then? The peta video really helped as this not only turned me vegetarian but my mom also. I will NEVER eat meat again for the rest of my life because I personally think it is such a disgusting and selfish thing to do. If you have ever had more than 1 pet animal you know each have their own personality
@fuckyou1458 You're so completely right. I don't see how people can say that the life of THEIR dog/cat/rabbit/etc is worth more than an animal they've never met. It's like saying I'm not Jewish so what the Nazis did during the Holocaust doesn't concern or disgust me.
This year I made my first new years resolution. I wanted to be more environmental which I've never bothered doing before.
I was searching on the net to find more ways to put an effort in when I found a challenge to take a vegetarian diet for 60 days. It's only been 5 days and I already love it.
I'm not grumpy like you where though. xD I actually feel alot better and healthier already. :)
I've been vegetarian for a year. They never tell you that the sex is better when you don't eat meat. I think that would bring alot more people over. lol
@TheBeatlessssss once you taste that blood, you will eventually be back, think about the blood dripping onto your napkin that you wipe, what a waste of animal
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
*sigh*. I really dont know what to say to you. Animals arnt exactly here for much other reason as far as pigs and cows and chickens go. So..... why fix it if it isnt broken?
i tried but i just couldn't do it. the primary reason being i became too weak and drowsy, something not wanted for a dude who plays football. and i just love the taste of meat.
@wdsa8d The weak and drowsy was your body going through detox, it happens for a lot of people. So what you're saying is that the animal whose life was taken away from them is less important than your football? Just say it out loud and see how it sounds - an animal should be murdered so I can play a sport...
I just decided one day when i was 15 that i wasnt going to eat meat anymore. Im now 23. Im married to a man who loves his meat, and I would never try to change that, its his choice. I make a lot of meals with Quorn, like sheperds pie etc... and I have sneakilly given my hubby that on the odd occasion and he hasnt been able to tell the difference at all ...lol.
I love being a vegetarian and would never eat meat again...
I've tried becoming a vegetarian a few times in the past, but I just can't really seem to adjust to it. Also, my family are pretty judgemental & gave me a hard time (just teased me) each time I stopped eating meat. Although, I applaud and respect everyone who is a vegetarian. Good work guys :)
I've been a vegetarian for 4 yearsand 6 months,I wouldn't take it back for anything,I love it,and I'm sooo happy to be one,I turned 18 and about a month later I decided I wanted to be a vegetarian as my first adult decision,I quit cold turkey(no pun intented)and I could never regret it!
Are you sure vegetables are able to supply everything a body needs? *cough vitamin b12 cough*
Can you tell me which vegetable gives you adequate amount riboflavin, zinc, calcium, iron, and essential amino acids such as lysine and methionine?
What I am saying is a good balanced diet where you eat different variety of food which includes BOTH vegetables and meat is better than any vegetable ONLY diet. No matter how you look at it, there must be some nutrition that meat has that vegetable doesnt.
A varied vegan diet, including beans, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, fruit and vegetables will provide most of these nutrients. The only one not available in these foods is vitamin B12.Someone once told me you can get it by not washing the soil off of vegetables before you eat them, but I don't think that's a good idea. There are a lot of foods that are fortified with it,or you can take a supplement
vegetarians don't eat ONLY vegetables. They eat whole grains, legumes and such. B12 is available in soymilk, rice milk etc. Tons of food are fortified with B12 and riboflavin is relatively easy to find as well. People still think veggies eat twigs and rocks. There are so many options now that you can never lack nutrients (unless you eat a ton of junk food.)
@TheManGuyDude Vegetables, fruits, legumes, grains, nuts and seeds have everything that humans need to survive. Animal products might have them in different forms, since they have metabolised all the nutrients from their vegetarian diet.
A vegan converted me to vegetarianism... I've only been a vegetarian for 2 weeks now, going cold turkey like you did. I haven't suffered much... if anything I feel happier. My skin is already nicer, as is my hair... the only difficulty I'm having is eating out... but I'm slowly finding options available to me.
I'm 23 with a daughter and a partner... both of which are meat-eaters... it's really not that hard to cook for both me and them... I just add a bit of meat to their meals. :)
Voluntary non-eating of meat other than for religious beliefs is a relatively recent issue in human history. Regardless of any supposed health benefits from vegetarianism, meat has always historically been a natural part of the human diet. Humans were hunting for and consuming meat long before any real horticultural or agricultural knowledge base ever evolved. In conclusion, vegetarianism must therefore be viewed as a dietary practice outside of normal human evolution.
There are two types of iron - haem, primarily from meat sources, and non-haem from plant sources. Most of the iron in all our diets, including meat eaters, comes not from meat but from plant sources, Legumes, such as kidney beans, lentils and chickpeas, soya bean curd (tofu), nuts, seeds, wholegrains and dried fruits, such as raisins, prunes, apricots and figs, are all excellent sources of iron. example, lentils contain 3.5mg iron per 100g, almonds 3mg, sesame seeds 10.4mg and figs 4.2mg.
cont. Invariably they fail to mention the possible health risks that go with iron from meat and never mention the benefits of plant iron. The old myth has developed deep roots - but it is still a myth.
An old nutritional myth that people who are vegetarian/vegan are at greater risk of iron deficiency/B12.. Because they dont eat red meats, and thought the best and only source of this vital mineral. This is not true and all the major health organisations agree - the British Medical Association, the World Health Organisation and the American Dietetic Association. Despite this, some minor health bodies, health professionals/ health writers persist in recommending red meat as the best source.
Vege for well over a decade now. A helpful hint is to take some supplements (especially if you are busy and eat on the go a lot). Most people will need at least B12:
B12 (VERY important - you pretty much only get it from meat and it affects your nervous system/brain function)
Comment on your statement vegetarian foods are the most tastey I am an ex meat and dairy eater ive had lots of vegetarian and meat dishes and I agree with you completely . I had some fried tofu chicken a few days back and it was like a flavor orgasm in my mouth every bite way better than dead chicken in my opinion and the texture was alot more palitable than any meat I have ever eaten honestly I always found meat to be lacking in the texture and flavor department .
Cold Turkey: I became a vegetarian earlier this year in January and I love the change! I laughed so hard when you said that you were grumpy in the beginning because I was TOO! haha It was not a pretty sight to see. My reasons to go veg were to live a healthier lifestyle and also my love for animals.
I personaly wasnt grumpy at all I was just disgusted with myself because I used to eat that stuff and think it was good . After a while I realized I dont even like the way meat tastes just the bomb ass herbs and spices I used to put on it lol honestly even the smell turns my stomach now adays :-( . My reasons to go vegan were pretty much the same I dont love the stupid animals that much meaning I dont cry every time someone eats chicken but I do care about their suffering .
Yeah most people that were brought up on meat can't stomic most vegs/fruits, same thing vise versa, don't be sad it makes me happy to see more people opening their minds to the actual truth...I tried coverting to eating meat here&there, but like you said it disgusts me you have to be artist to mask the taste from me...but do go look at the facts about the human anatomy, and how its closer to that of a herb/ frugivore: claws, teeth, acid, intestines, behavior, dna relatives..stay away from wiki
OH I have done the research on the facts of the ideal / proper human diet which was my reason for becoming vegetarian so instantly , well acctualy first it was the disgusting part then I did the research but you know . Im not sad about my choice at all im glad to exclude such things from my diet and wouldnt have it any other way . Random thought frugivore im guessing that thats a creature that lives solely on fruits ive never seen that word before .
I would think that all the steroids/antibodies/chemicals in meat would make your body dependent and would be kinda like a crack fiend or cig smoker sorta speak...so if you're trying it would be just about as tuff.
@royalblowno A particular example is beef. Cows are made to eat grass, but they are fed corn because that's a higher yield crop and so you can feed more cows and make more beef. But since they are eating the wrong food they have health problems and are pumped full of drugs to counteract these. how screwed up is that?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
and you arent saving animals by refusing to eat them b/c thousands of them are killed about every two hrs and your refusal to eat them only leave leftover uncooked meat in the fridge of mcdonalds or the grocery store
im also gunna laugh when i live longer than you. and you dont have to be vegetarian to live longer my grandma died at 102 and she ate animals. o and yes i watched pigs get cut open b4.. never bothered me.
I used to eat meat untill I realized cows and pigs were hung upside down by their heels and slit open letting thier guts fall out WHILE STILL CONCIOUS!!!! And all other animals had their heads cut off! It really pisses me off that ppl mindlessly eat meat when if they realized how they were killed and that they think and feel they would probably stop. I don't care if you disagree, thats my opinion. So if you flesh eaters want to die an average of 5-12 years earlier than vegetarians, GO AHEAD!!!
this august 23rd will be my two year mark:] i went cold turkey too:] and it was great! lol i feel tons healthier and i feel better about not eating all those poor little animals:[ rock on!!
I'm not a vegetarian myself, but there are a few great vegetarian and vegan restaurants in town I like to visit from time to time. I feel bad for people in rural areas that dont have so many food options around. Congrats on the milestone and stick with it.

You are the most mindless ass hole I have ever met! So if someone took your mum or your dad and took them away, hung them upside down by their heels and cut them open while they're still concious or chopped their head off and then ground them or cut them up and cooked them and served it to you, you're telling me you would eat it?!?! How do you think the animals feel??!?!

HOW DO YO TINKTHE ANIMALS FEEL?!? You must be some mindless ass wipe.... if thats what makes me a pathetic exuse fr a human than you must not be human at all if you wanna randomly attack people and claim tha eating meat is s great, well when you die a average of 5-12 years earlier than me I'm gonne laugh my ass off... and yes I do have a tree to climb thank u very much, you tink you're offending me, I actually want to save the planet.

and beast17, i like to enjoy my life, i dont waste time reading descriptions to make sure an animal is not used for it. i also enjoyed that steak and hope it weakens the atmospher b/c thats just a load of bullshit.you dont realize that u are wasting your life caring about animals when there is more serious things to care about. how bout every one starving in fucking africa. animals can get food easily but do the fucking kids and the god damn babies that are starving to death?
you will never learn how pathetic you are. you act like becoming vegetarians will save your pathetic animals. what if i go and cut up a toad. wat u gona do about that... thats exactly wat ill do. and ill post it on youtube for all of everyone to see.if god wanted you to not it animals then why did he say to in the bible hmm...why did he tell them to sacrafice cattle to wash their sins?? the only thing he said not to eat was bats and pigs and a coupls of other stuff.
The social power domain has constistently emerged in cross-cultural studies of values, and people who support social power values exhibit related behaviors, such as pressuring others to go along with their preferences and opinions (Bardi and Schwartz, 2003).
Heavy meat consumers endorsed social power more than vegetarians. The interactive Effect of Cultural Symbols and Human Values in Taste Eval. JCR, 2008 p. 299.
why try to save the animals from bieng eaten when they use hygene products that have animals in them. and you wear WOOL shirts. so ima remember saving animals from slaughter while i eat this nice juicy steak!
The key is to become aware of the different ways in which animal-products are used and simply avoid purchasing, consuming and wearing them. There are replacements for every animal-product and most are better than the products they replace. And while you're enjoying your steak, remember that you're risking your health, weakening yourself, stimulating the use of toxins and destroying the rainforests and fresh water sources and adding to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
There are hundreds of hygiene products without animal products in them. You don't kill sheep by sheering them so wool is ok. You can also buy milk from farms where elderly cows are not slaughtered after they become unproductive. You can also buy leather products (shoes, belts etc) from farms where animals have died from natural causes.
Enjoy your steak. Very few vegetarians will judge you. You eat as much meat as you want. As for myself, I will not make my body a graveyard for animals.
What is it, exactly, that you think meat owns? Meat is great for carnivores but people aren't carnivores. It's an important part of an omnivores diet as well, but humans display a decidedly herbivorous digestive physiology. And if we eat meat, we end up suffering from the same ailments herbivorous animals develop when animal-based foods are added to their diet; heart-attacks, increased cancer rates, strokes, diabetes and erectile dysfunction. If you want those things, then meat owns.
Alcohol: Clarifying agents can be obtained from a variety of sources including gelatin, egg albumin, charcoal made from bones. Alternatives are tannin cellulose, pectinases and fungal protease. Isinglass (fish derivative) may be replaced with bentonite, kaolin and silica gel. Traditional cask beers are usually clarified with isinglass derived from swim bladders of fish. Canned and some bottle beers are filtered without using animal substances.
Sorry but eating meat is not a crime. it is a natural fact of life. We are lucky to omnivours and have the choice and selection in todays society. I did not like one thing you said though. That there is Vegetariansare limited in choice. THERE ARE VEGETARIAN returaunts and if your in city that dont have one. Then bad luck!
watch the clip on the side WARNING don't watch it if your sensitive toward animals....see if u want 2 be vegetarian then. btw im not against eating meat at all
I was vegetarian for a year and a half, then I stopped (i dont know why because I loved it) Then literally a few days ago, I started thinking about it, and now im vegetarian again. haha, and I also love being able to experiment with making new foods as a vegetarian.
I think a nice juicy seitan "steak" (totally vegetarian) smothered with vegan gravy or tonkatsu sauce is just as tasty as a porterhouse steak and a LOT healthier. Tastes the same, the texture is the same.
I've heard that, and the reason i know it's false is because "veg-" was a prefix originally from Latin to refer to plants. Also, there is no ONE American Indian language. I don't mean to offend here, but next time actually do some etymology research before going around and saying things like this.
Sometimes I don't eat meat for months, and then when I do it comes in bursts
of madness. I hunt down vegetarians and vegans. I cage them, I cut & eviscerate them, bleed, wash and then salt them. Then I get out to the fire pitt and slow roast them with garlic and herbs for 3-6 hours minimum. It tastes very good!
So when the weather gets chilly and the full moon is out...watch out, cuz you may
It is not the answer for moral/ethical issues, or political/environmental issues, or for health, nutrition and feeding the third world. The only answer is local, sustainable, organic, polyculture systems that involve both animals and plants (this is how it exists in nature - although I wouldn't put it past some vegetarians to think they can just feed their cat soy kibble). Read the book "The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice and Sustainability". Take care,ex long term veg, sick and full of regret
Oh, so you're an environmentalist? Do you eat grains from the Murray Darling basin? If you do, you're killing a distant river with every bite. And don't believe the stats you read about water and grain used to produce meat. That's for unnatural GRAIN FED feedlot meat. They are designed to eat grass. Cows makes grass edible for humans, in the form of milk and meat. I admire the sentiment really, but going vegetarian is not the answer to the worlds problems....
Oh please, meat eaters get heart attacks just for their own share of meat. No doubt you'll die long before you start eating my share of animals that I don't eat.
I went cold-turkey vegan and I had no negative side-effects. I think its a matter of what you choose to eat as a vegetarian or vegan that makes you cranky. If you stay balanced and do your research there shouldn't be any problems.
For people who want to become vegetarian I think its important to understand that there is animal product in alot of things you may not expect and so it isnt just about giving up meat.... Alot of chocolate, icecream yoghurt ect... isnt suitable for vegetarians as it contains lecithin and / or gelatine (soya lecithin is fine) but alcohol also generally contains animal product which isn't always listed on the labels
i really want to be vegatarian, but i always just go back to meat. what should i do? :l

If you have ever had more than 1 pet animal you know each have their own personality
fuckyou1458 2 years ago 4
@fuckyou1458 You're so completely right. I don't see how people can say that the life of THEIR dog/cat/rabbit/etc is worth more than an animal they've never met. It's like saying I'm not Jewish so what the Nazis did during the Holocaust doesn't concern or disgust me.

i tried but i just couldn't do it. the primary reason being i became too weak and drowsy, something not wanted for a dude who plays football. and i just love the taste of meat.

@wdsa8d The weak and drowsy was your body going through detox, it happens for a lot of people. So what you're saying is that the animal whose life was taken away from them is less important than your football? Just say it out loud and see how it sounds - an animal should be murdered so I can play a sport...

Hi, ive been a vegetarian for 8 years.

Are you saying that a vegetarian diet is better than a blanced diet? I doubt that.
Human beings has the most sophisticated digestive system of all creatures. We are design to eat everything (that are edible). Why change that?
TheManGuyDude 2 years ago
A good vegetarian diet is a balanced diet, you silly person.Research it before you make such daft comments.
ElledieWildAndFree 2 years ago 2
Are you sure vegetables are able to supply everything a body needs? *cough vitamin b12 cough*
Can you tell me which vegetable gives you adequate amount riboflavin, zinc, calcium, iron, and essential amino acids such as lysine and methionine?
What I am saying is a good balanced diet where you eat different variety of food which includes BOTH vegetables and meat is better than any vegetable ONLY diet. No matter how you look at it, there must be some nutrition that meat has that vegetable doesnt.
TheManGuyDude 2 years ago
A varied vegan diet, including beans, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, fruit and vegetables will provide most of these nutrients. The only one not available in these foods is vitamin B12.Someone once told me you can get it by not washing the soil off of vegetables before you eat them, but I don't think that's a good idea. There are a lot of foods that are fortified with it,or you can take a supplement
ElledieWildAndFree 2 years ago
vegetarians don't eat ONLY vegetables. They eat whole grains, legumes and such. B12 is available in soymilk, rice milk etc. Tons of food are fortified with B12 and riboflavin is relatively easy to find as well. People still think veggies eat twigs and rocks. There are so many options now that you can never lack nutrients (unless you eat a ton of junk food.)
xgreenmittensx 2 years ago 2
yeah right...
TheManGuyDude 2 years ago

Most of the iron in all our diets, including meat eaters, comes not from meat but from plant sources, Legumes, such as kidney beans, lentils and chickpeas, soya bean curd (tofu), nuts, seeds, wholegrains and dried fruits, such as raisins, prunes, apricots and figs, are all excellent sources of iron. example, lentils contain 3.5mg iron per 100g, almonds 3mg, sesame seeds 10.4mg and figs 4.2mg.
royalblowno 2 years ago 3
cont. Invariably they fail to mention the possible health risks that go with iron from meat and never mention the benefits of plant iron. The old myth has developed deep roots - but it is still a myth.
royalblowno 2 years ago
An old nutritional myth that people who are vegetarian/vegan are at greater risk of iron deficiency/B12.. Because they dont eat red meats, and thought the best and only source of this vital mineral. This is not true and all the major health organisations agree - the British Medical Association, the World Health Organisation and the American Dietetic Association. Despite this, some minor health bodies, health professionals/ health writers persist in recommending red meat as the best source.
royalblowno 2 years ago 4
Vege for well over a decade now. A helpful hint is to take some supplements (especially if you are busy and eat on the go a lot). Most people will need at least B12:
B12 (VERY important - you pretty much only get it from meat and it affects your nervous system/brain function)
Other possible supplements include:
Iron (especially women) omega oil, calcium, protein, vitamin D, and/or Iodine.
Best idea is to see your doctor.
onyana 2 years ago
B12 is another myth like the others...they say that we can store b12 up to 30 years ect, and saying that you only get it from meat is another one...
royalblowno 2 years ago 3
@onyana It's a myth that B12 is pretty much only from meat - the b12 tablets that you get are from mushrooms!

Cold Turkey: I became a vegetarian earlier this year in January and I love the change! micro529 2 years ago 5
My reasons to go vegan were pretty much the same I dont love the stupid animals that much meaning I dont cry every time someone eats chicken but I do care about their suffering .
xaviermockingbird 2 years ago
Yeah most people that were brought up on meat can't stomic most vegs/fruits, same thing vise versa, don't be sad it makes me happy to see more people opening their minds to the actual truth...I tried coverting to eating meat here&there, but like you said it disgusts me you have to be artist to mask the taste from me...but do go look at the facts about the human anatomy, and how its closer to that of a herb/ frugivore: claws, teeth, acid, intestines, behavior, dna relatives..stay away from wiki
royalblowno 2 years ago 2
OH I have done the research on the facts of the ideal / proper human diet which was my reason for becoming vegetarian so instantly , well acctualy first it was the disgusting part then I did the research but you know . Im not sad about my choice at all im glad to exclude such things from my diet and wouldnt have it any other way . Random thought frugivore im guessing that thats a creature that lives solely on fruits ive never seen that word before .

I would think that all the steroids/antibodies/chemicals in meat would make your body dependent and would be kinda like a crack fiend or cig smoker sorta speak...so if you're trying it would be just about as tuff.
royalblowno 2 years ago 2
@royalblowno A particular example is beef. Cows are made to eat grass, but they are fed corn because that's a higher yield crop and so you can feed more cows and make more beef. But since they are eating the wrong food they have health problems and are pumped full of drugs to counteract these. how screwed up is that?

I used to eat meat untill I realized cows and pigs were hung upside down by their heels and slit open letting thier guts fall out WHILE STILL CONCIOUS!!!! And all other animals had their heads cut off! It really pisses me off that ppl mindlessly eat meat when if they realized how they were killed and that they think and feel they would probably stop. I don't care if you disagree, thats my opinion. So if you flesh eaters want to die an average of 5-12 years earlier than vegetarians, GO AHEAD!!!

why try to save the animals from bieng eaten when they use hygene products that have animals in them. and you wear WOOL shirts. so ima remember saving animals from slaughter while i eat this nice juicy steak!
zestydropkik 2 years ago
zestydropkik,
The key is to become aware of the different ways in which animal-products are used and simply avoid purchasing, consuming and wearing them. There are replacements for every animal-product and most are better than the products they replace. And while you're enjoying your steak, remember that you're risking your health, weakening yourself, stimulating the use of toxins and destroying the rainforests and fresh water sources and adding to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Beastt17 2 years ago
There are hundreds of hygiene products without animal products in them. You don't kill sheep by sheering them so wool is ok. You can also buy milk from farms where elderly cows are not slaughtered after they become unproductive. You can also buy leather products (shoes, belts etc) from farms where animals have died from natural causes.
Enjoy your steak. Very few vegetarians will judge you. You eat as much meat as you want. As for myself, I will not make my body a graveyard for animals.

93martin9 2 years ago
93martin9,
What is it, exactly, that you think meat owns? Meat is great for carnivores but people aren't carnivores. It's an important part of an omnivores diet as well, but humans display a decidedly herbivorous digestive physiology. And if we eat meat, we end up suffering from the same ailments herbivorous animals develop when animal-based foods are added to their diet; heart-attacks, increased cancer rates, strokes, diabetes and erectile dysfunction. If you want those things, then meat owns.
Beastt17 2 years ago
Alcohol: Clarifying agents can be obtained from a variety of sources including gelatin, egg albumin, charcoal made from bones. Alternatives are tannin cellulose, pectinases and fungal protease. Isinglass (fish derivative) may be replaced with bentonite, kaolin and silica gel. Traditional cask beers are usually clarified with isinglass derived from swim bladders of fish. Canned and some bottle beers are filtered without using animal substances.

I've heard that, and the reason i know it's false is because "veg-" was a prefix originally from Latin to refer to plants. Also, there is no ONE American Indian language. I don't mean to offend here, but next time actually do some etymology research before going around and saying things like this.

Take care,ex long term veg, sick and full of regret
twopointsix 2 years ago
Oh, so you're an environmentalist? Do you eat grains from the Murray Darling basin? If you do, you're killing a distant river with every bite. And don't believe the stats you read about water and grain used to produce meat. That's for unnatural GRAIN FED feedlot meat. They are designed to eat grass. Cows makes grass edible for humans, in the form of milk and meat. I admire the sentiment really, but going vegetarian is not the answer to the worlds problems....
