  • Wait he just ran 1.65v through ram on a sandy bridge system.. Dosnt that burn out the cpu?

  • I CAN'T FLIPPING WAIT TO GET THE 2500K

  • I just bought an i5 2500k processor with an asus 8z68 pro gen3 mobo. Lovely

  • 7:51 is where it gets real. Thumbs up this comment for teh noobs!

  • So wait, is there litterly no way to overclock a sandy bridge processor without the K or is it just harder to do? I dont know which i5 to buy now.

  • @Fsxace999 you NEED the k. get the k.

  • @xTom4Tomx not really you can over clock an i5 2500 to 4.1 ghz without the K

  • @Fsxace999 you can on both but the normal one has a locked multiplier while the K have unlocked multiplier, hence higher oc limit.

  • aiaiaiaiaiiaiai poor Paul, he should learn more about Pc and PC parts, before he make videos

  • how do i delete/reset my OC profiles?? i made a mess out of them and want a fresh start

  • what was the motherboards voltage when he oc'd to 4.8ghz

  • @dsdseew3223 1.4

  • I love it how in 0:47 when JJ said what UEFI means Paul was like

    "Uhhh yeah..what he said"

  • I have a problem with my BIOS booting properly in its capable resolution. It always seems to come out bigger then it should and its stopping me from seeing and accessing everything. Any suggestions? I definitely don't know what to do at this point. Same mobo as in the video. And I'm running a regular monitor no HD.

  • what happens if you have water cooling?

  • BUT MiNE IT'S PRO

  • i have this motherboard!!! :P

  • I tried these settings and got so many BSODs

  • @ledzeppelin4892000 I am sure they had a 2600K on hand that is a proven 5Ghz chip. Not all sandy bridge chips are equal. Some people will top out at 4.6 and some people can hit 5.2. It's truly a luck of the draw and how good your board is. Everyone should be able to hit 4.5 easily and that's overkill times 10 anyway.

  • @Jayjr1105 Newegg should stress these facts.

  • @Jayjr1105 if its 10times over kill... every CPU should run at 450Mhz max?

  • Thanks ferthung...

Yeah no need for OC, CPU doesnt go over 20%..

  • I'm buying the 3570k ivy bridge i5 with the hyper212 evo, what would be a good and stable overclock?

  • they need to do a video on how to set up raid in this crap... ASAP come on JJ!!!!! lol

  • hmmm i had done the auto OC.. but yet still my system keep failing... any help...

    asus p8z68-mpro, 2600K, 8g kinstons hyper 16000, corsair h60, ocz vertex2 60g ssd,gtx460

  • @ladjkaoz its 90% a RAM failure, try testing ur RAM's 1 by 1 or swap for some other RAMs :)

  • @ladjkaoz dont use that auto feature is no good.none of them are good, besides this doesnt need oc especially with that gpu of yours

  • brilliant video as always with new egg, but the screen was impossibly to read!

  • ICANT SEE ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!even on 720p.

i have the same cpu but the p8z68-v mobo and i want to know what steps did you do

  • @FERTUHG As far as I know, blind people can't watch videos through braille system.

  • @yojgee why do you act like a douchebag?did your mama dropped on your head when you were little?

  • @FERTUHG If you can't see anything, get rid of your CRT!

Lmfao, I'm on an old LCD from '05, and I can read it just fine.

  • If I use h100 on a i5 2500k what should my temps be? Im using a obsidian 800d case

  • @crazychainsaw007 You'll be able to reach 5 GHz stable with a max temp of 77 degrees. Pretty damn good if you ask me XD

  • @Zacccc51 77c or 77f?

  • Anybody know if I can do a safe overclock using a hyper 212 cooler

  • @kap2z Definitely! Ease into it though. Don't automatically go into your highest amount.

  • Can anyone tell me i'm getting the z68 version of this board, will the uefi bios be the same?

  • personally i dont like Intel, AMD i like, but seeing all this and seeing how paul is sweet eyeing these features. i believe its understood that this is a pretty awesome upcoming rigs that will become in 2012 =]

  • Does it overclock just the cpu or the gpu as well?

  • @captainpegs07 by the video itself it seams its only overclocking the cpu, but i would imagine that the added features with the software it most likely has the gpu stuff with it. I know ASUS likes keeping their boards updated that it dosent need a standalone graphics/gpu for it to perform well but i dont see why not it wouldnt have it with it. BUT then again most gpu's you would install have their own overclocking software for it

  • can i use the easy overclock ability with my stock i7 2600k cooler?

  • @xeNeonification I wouldnt...definitely get another cooler or risk the longevity of the CPU.

  • Do you think I can overclock my 2600k to 4,5ghz with the overclock botton in UEFI by using CM212 plus cooler instead of H70 or H100 ? Btw, my case is Corsair 500R. Any one..... Please advice... Thx in adv. :)

  • @MrAvatar9999 yeah even higher i got my I5 2500k with the same cooler ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/GEN3 and case to 4.8 very stable Btw i use dual cpu fan it lowered my temps by 5-3 Celsius max temps are 64-67 Celsius

I used the Auto Tuning in the AI suite 2

  • @ERAN503 Based on your setting is it "OK" to run 7/24 ?

  • @MrAvatar9999 I never run it on 4,8 24/7 only when i play video games or compressing video

but when i surf the web the temps are 30C and about 1.6 ghz in idle

it will automatically go down but you can change the settings in the Windows power options i have it set to balanced but you can set it to run full speed 100% of the time

and i did some stability tests for about 9 hours and it was very stable

  • @MrAvatar9999 it was stable 9 hours in full speed (4.8)

  • @ERAN503 Thx for yr reply and helpful info :)

  • at 10:05, what was he typing? "4.8" or "48" ? im overclocking for the first time. after that is that all i have to do?

  • I get SO tired of these racist high-schoolers ....

  • If i wanna overclock using the 3 option system performance thingy, do i have to enable my tpu or epu?

  • All this time I've been saying Asus like "Aw" "suss (rhymes with shush)"

  • This bro from newegg is thick as fuck xD

  • Haters gonna hate .....

  • its funny because in 10 years well be measuring in thz and laugh at this

  • @cozzo707 Haha yeah :P

  • @cozzo707 Nah, I don't think we'll hit Thz for several decades at least, if ever. Parallel computing is taking over because of heat/power issues when raising clock speeds. It's why we've been at ~3GHz stock for consumer CPUs for several years now, whereas we've gone from 1 core to 8 cores. In 10 years we'll probably be at 32 core consumer CPUs running at ~2.5-3GHz.

  • @cozzo707 in 10 years every thing on the com doesnt even need to wait XD and the games might be like real human already XD

  • @cozzo707 lol that's very true!

  • @cozzo707 it's unlikely we will be measuring in Thz for a long long time if ever.

Amd and Intel have taken to adding more cores instead of trying to get higher clock speeds.

  • Really really good stuff done here, i just literally followed everything J.J. did for the 4.8 overclock and got my i5 to 4.8 ghz, so happy :D and my temperatures wont go higher than 60c with the corsair H100

  • @devsain How did you see the numbers that he was typing clearly enough to use this as a guide? I've got it on the highest 'p' rating possible for this video and couldn't make out the numbers...

  • Moderate CPU Voltage , he says 1.40V ? WTF.... i've always been told, don't exceed 1.3V unless you don't care about the life of the 2600k. 1.4V seems very very high!... if this is considered moderate, what does JJ consider too high? I've seen 1.5-1.6V done before.. but this was using Liquid Helium. For Air. not sure of 1.4V..

if someone knows better.. please inform me, so i can hit higher clocks :P

  • @TheCompjunkie 1.4v is fine on air as long as the temps are under control. On water 1.45v is used all the time.

  • @TheCompjunkie 1.4v is fine. I would say 1.45ish is my personal max, but I'm generally conservative. People run theirs at 1.5v 24/7.

  • there's a booger on the wall behind the asus guy!

  • How do i get to my Bios screen?!?!?!!?

  • @Rellucmot press delete at the asus screen then when a black screen comes up i think it says maverick and press the space bar there

  • it's UEFI!!!!! FAIL PAUL FAIL

  • JJ needs a huge raise NAO!

  • im planning on getting the Asus P8P67 (rev 3.1) and an i5 2500k

  • I am BUYING THIS NOW!

  • thumbs up if you tried cleaning the dot on the screen

  • Unified Extensible Firmware Interface

  • PSU = overkill xD

  • Seems like a talented guy GIVE HIM A RAISE! ;)

  • my motherboard is a P8P67 (not pro), and does have this UEFI... But why does it come up an american megatrends (normal bios) logo when i boot up?

  • Oh man... even on the 4.7ghz it blue screens eventually... we have the same ram 1600mhz with the same timings etc.

I reverted back to my old 4.7ghz I used before I followed this bullshit guide. Stable once more.

  • Bullshit settings are bullshit XD i copied his every step and my system blue screens on 4.8ghz, runs fine with 4.7ghz

  • @YonOtto Some time its the luck of the pick for CPU cores, you just got one that can't handle the load

  • I was planning to buy a shuttle barebone and build a shuttle-based PC until I ran into this video! I'm so on this mobo now!

  • UEFI is on the new AM3+ series too right?

  • This man Just grew a mustache.

  • i have a p8p67 le its so fast lol

  • what was the WARNING!! popup bottom right of the screen at 15:14 O.o

  • When I used the optimal button the BCLK went to 103 and I got an unsafe set up.

  • paul, i think that ASUS guy really likes your left ear.

  • 00:50 It's Unified Extensible Firmware Interface if it was anything it wouldn't make sense

    uefi (dot) org

  • 1.65v with an i7-2600k... naughty naughty

  • the OC at teh end is impressive, can't wait to try it

  • Just bought the same setup... good video, very useful!

  • when they boot into the OS.. half the monitor is icons

  • Can you overclock the non "k" version? I'm not talking about a huge oc, just like to 3.8Ghz.

  • @uuuserunknown Pretty sure the non k version has turboboost to 3.8Ghz anyway?

  • @ASoggySandal will the turbo boost be able to sustain at heavy rendering for a long time?

  • @uuuserunknown Yes, should handle that easily. A decent amount of fast RAM with good CAS timings will also speed up your rendering.

  • They should let it run auto tuned to 4,8 Ghz for some hours it will definatelly not stay under 60 degrees.

  • try to sound as intelligent as you possible can? well first off it's UEFI not EUFI lol

  • Aplea to add... more adverts to the BIOS

  • I bought an Asus motherboard. If this company sell what it really pretending, then it would show the speed of memory in one of her useless motherboard softwares. I have a friend who bought a XFX nforce motherboard, three times cheaper than my Asus, and it has three times faster memory.

  • Rebooted board at 12:27, loading windows at 13:03. That's 1:15sec of BIOS shenanigans. FAIL! My shit MSI board does power to desktop in 45sec. Why can't aftermarket boards post as fast as OEM boards from Dell or HP?

  • i think he said "hesus" "jesus" on mexican slang

  • Ai Suite II is still crap. if you uninstall it, it leaves 3 folders and 3 processes running everytime you boot up your computer. nothing in it is worth installing it for anyway. thank god Ai Charger is a separate download. Stay away from Ai Suite's!

the P8P67 EVO i picked up is badass tho. get that!

  • I've always pronounced ASUS, a-sus...is it really pronounced the way he's saying it? Like a-soos?

  • @thepaledeath Yep, A-soos. One of those weird words that's hard to guess. I'm sure it's a potato - "potahtoh" thing either way.

  • @Veledan I watched an ASUS video, and they indeed pronounced it a-soos. However, on their website they state that their name is derived from Pegasus. Oh well.

  • @Veledan In Latin, all of the U's have the oo sound, so they are correct.

  • does he make mistakes on purpose

  • Comment removed

  • WARNING THIS IS A LONG VIDEO if you have the attention span of 23 seconds this will not make a lick of sense

  • Theres a problem at the moment i have found and talking with Asus about the board, Hyperthreading is not working very well in conjunction to mutlitasking. Try running LiveStream and a game even in windowed mode 640x480 the sound glitches and stutters. I found allocating the game or livestream to another core works fine. Green lines on 1 core are showing 95% roughly where load is only 32%.

    Disabling Hyperthreading fixes this issue!

  • @Liquadia1 I must emphasise this is with the P8p67 nd not the pro

  • LOL 1350w power supply for a single GPU...

  • when are we getting GLaDOS.. :D

  • Much longer I'd say hehe

  • Hehe, check J.J.'s face in the start of the video, he can't wait to correct Paul's mentioning EUFI instead of UEFI...great vid though, and I swayed to choose the Asus mobo for my new build!

  • BIOS for noobs :P

  • i was all set to purchase an Asrock board...not anymore...i'm sold...thanks J.J. and I agree you should get a raise....Very well spoken and informative...and thanks newegg....I'll be right over to purchase my new Asus motherboard

  • So all I've gotta do to overclock is choose the third option on the EZ mode? Does that only overclock the CPU or also everything else? I'm new to this. :)

  • 13:41 made me think I had something on my screen : D

  • This man just sold me an ASUS board, he should get a raise!

  • Hmm thats strange. I overclock my CPU to 4.5ghz and i pretty much just followed this video and it seem to freeze whenever it wants. I've also noticed a double boot when i restart it. Any solutions ??

  • @Villeum bios update?

  • i need opinion from a few ppl please on this....

im planning on oc'ing it to 4.5ghz with this same cooler as in the vid....wat i wanna know is...how long can it run stably without blowing up ...even if sometimes i use it even for 24hr+ purposes...i want my setup to last for about 2-3 more years :(...please guys suggest

  • Are they brothers?

  • i like it how the guy in black doesn't understand shit he's talking about...and just repeating wat the "specialist" is saying :D

  • So if I click a button my cpu will get OCed? How does the UEFI know that the temperatures are reaching the limit? Like how does it OC without passing the CPU safety ranges? Does my P67 Sabertooth that is on my cart have UEFI?

  • If you reduce power consumption by 10 watts, it would take 100 hours to save about 10 cents.

  • it stands for Unified Extensible Firmware Interface!

  • you have a lot of icons on your desktop

  • it's UNIFIED Extensible Firmware Interface not USER Extensible Firmware Interface

  • Be nice if you could do the RAM in Windows as well.

  • It would've been funny if he would have crashed the computer and burned up the processor :D

  • On that last "autooverclock", what was the voltage at at the end, i couldn't read it. I saw him pushing 1.5v in another video, I thought that was kind of hard on your processor.

  • How far can i go with the stock 2600k cooler

  • @pirozguro nowhere that shit is just a passive metal heat sink whit a fan blowing air to the socket

  • @pirozguro dont try it. the 212+ is only 30 bucks man

  • @pirozguro The stock for the 2500k burn my i52500k(no oc) in less than 20 mins, not joking I am now awaiting my replacement.

  • @ColGproductions so that should have been defective. Because they have made a simple calculation for the fan not to burn the CPU

  • Thanks! This really helps out! <--- 1st time SB OCer

  • So i need an aftermarket CPU cooler to OC to 3.8ghz or 3.9ghz?

how far can i OC with stock intel cooler?

  • @Seabound07 With an i7, up to 3.8GHz, with an i5, up to 3.7GHz.

  • he is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mexican... lol

  • 12:50 now that's evolution in mobo technology

  • does this set up will work on a Hackintosh ?

  • THAT SPEC!!! I keep wanting to wipe it off my screen but I can't!

  • Manual gives higher clock speed than auto.

  • One question; Why would one want to manually overclock on the motherboard instead of just using the Auto-Tuning function? Thanks a lot.

  • @Slate10001 If you use the extreme option, I think it does a better job than manual.

I got no idea how to edit in the bios, so I use my Turbo Evo :)

  • JJ, the ASUS Rep, was my mentor when we worked together at Geek Squad 3 years ago.

  • @16justn wow

  • JJ, the ASUS Rep, was my mentor when we worked together at Geek Squad 3 years ago.

  • i thought 4.4 ghz was good enough. 4.8 is practically an overkill. so why 5.0 ghz? That's just for a personal record.

  • wow what ssd is that? is it an c300?

it boots in 8 seconds into windows?

  • @Gijs0078 its not because of the SSD its because of the UEFI bios.

  • This man has the smallest forehead I have ever seen

  • @1hellofadrug yeah i guess that is the smallest[ cant say any thing else, but i saw similar

  • @1hellofadrug J.J. is the man. One of my favorite tech guys.

  • @1hellofadrug Lmfao! That shit just made my day. That was a good one.

  • @1hellofadrug it's his hairline, lol

  • @1hellofadrug You know what they say about guys with small foreheads don't ya?

  • uefi uuuu eeee ffff ii

  • Very cool cant wait to get my core i7 sandy bridge upgrade next month :)

  • did anyone feel like they wanted to punch the asus rep in the face? so annoying the way he speaks omfg

  • Do you think i can overclock a i7 2600k to 4.5 ghz with a Asetek 570LX Liquid Cooling system and still have safe temperatures..??

  • @ISUBANY11 definitely

  • get a Z68 board
