what book do you use for these lessons? I'd like to purchase it because your lessons are more useful than all my books in teaching me. Please reply to this.
@TheDarkMindedOne In the description section I posted a complete bibliography of the book I used. Hope you can find it, it is out of print. Try used book places!
@takineko it's not wrong haha! it's just something that a lot of people who speak or learn japanese as a second or foreign language do because that sound is more prominent in their native languages. you've got a great explanation on the tense markers and your pronunciation is really clear, so good job!
You plan to reach 40 videos for each lesson? That's a great job from you! I think its a brave decision since you get tired from work! I hope to continue on teaching us safely ! :D
just a question: don't japanese verbs end in -ru? as in, to open, you wrote Ake, but shouldn't that be Akeru ? or is it another form ? o_o btw still lovin' theseeee <3
more general, they all end in a u sound, being shinu(to die) the only one which ends in nu
japanese has two groups of verbs, the -ru verbs and the -u verbs, -ru verbs ends in -iru or -eru and -u verbs ends in everything else with a few exceptions that ends in -iru or -eru as well as the ru verbs
there are 2(or 3 can't remember) irregular verbs, suru (to do) and kuru(to come) which has their own inflexion and they don't have anything to do with either of the groups above
Thank you suuu much...I learned many from your presentation although, am so tire of chasing your 100km/hr...zooom...topic, perhaps you want to strike more...
and i knwo what u mean with the fluent thing. lol. i pronounce things pretty well, but then they just spit out something massive and i just get confused. lol.
HAHA a dutch oven, no body mentioned that eh? Hey Valerie since your so giving with these lessons, would you like a dutchie? Our way of saying thanks ka?
Y'know, I actually knew most of the vocab in this lesson. And I already knew about conjugating -masu. However, I did learn a few things. For example, I never knew that "desu" was a contraction of "de arimasu", so that was an interesting concept. I also didn't know the word for "bookcase". XP
Other than that, this was pretty much a review. :)
(I'm hearing a lot of Pimsleur lately, but what I'm saying is probably all wrong. I do love hearing your lessons though, helps me diversify and confirm what I know. Arigatou gozaimasu, Taki-sensei.)

just noticed that you pronounce 'd' as a retroflex sound instead of the trill used in japanese.. hmm..

@FreedomValentine Did I mess up? How often do I mess up? I don't mean to, I might be doing it just out of a bad habit.

If a speaker is going to say "When and where did that person come from" at 2:51, shouldn't she put a "to" between "kinou" and "doko"?
PS: I know you go by the book but the actaual spelling is 'kinou', not 'kinoo' but I know the book is as old as dirt no offense.
dekablueranger 3 years ago
Yeah the book is old and it has strange romanji, like splitting up Desu.
