the way she says "swim lonely" adds some sense of imagery to this song, to such extent that I can actually see her swimming on a dark ocean shore, right next to Lisbon. the sky looks dark and starless, and the city lights look amazing. the "uuUUuUUuuuU" of the background vocals, plus the . · `· . · ` · . · ` · . of terry's guitar just adds to the feeling of ocean waves to it. this song was extremely well made, and I love every single bit of it.

She said once that it was sunset in Lisbon like in 2005, she was sitting on a window and got inspired by the scenery and something emotional...

There's no metaphorical value of that particular motif,but it is great anyway :D

Well as the story goes (supposedly), Amy Lee was on tour in Portugal some time back and late one night she looked out of her hotel room window. However because of the bright citylights (aka "mechanical lights of lisbon"), the stars weren't visible ("frightened away").

dat is so true. she does rock the stage, owns it actually but her vocals live r just okay, like for sum huge azz concert they're arite. when she's calm and singin live tho, she sounds amazing, like anything acoustic version of her music. and i can sing most of her songs. the trick isn't trying to sound like her or sing at her pitch cuz no ones the same. its more like keeping da melody but at ur pitch and shit like dat. idk if it makes sense. mayb sum1 can explain it better. :)

Amy does try to make a spectacular performance on stage. It's just kinda hard singing like the way she does ( like a goddess ) while bouncing, dancing around, and singing over a crowd of screaming fans. Not to mention getting tired or even getting to hot in those summer concerts. Even though her performances aren't perfect she should still get tons or credit, and yes, she most certainly does rock the stage =D
