May 8, 1995: 42-yr.-old mega-star Teresa Teng dies from an asthma attack in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Her body is flown to Taipei, Taiwan, via military plane, where she is honored with a State funeral.

So today wasn't a bad day in history.
No more Nazis, though we're still fighting what was once the peaceful nation of Japan (thank you, Cdre. Matthew Perry [sarcasm]).
We stopped Sioux militants from seizing the town of Wounded Knee! Hooray for rescuing innocent people!
Coca-Cola was invented! Yey! It only took 96 years for them to decide to add some cherry flavoring to the mix to make CHERRY COKE!
"Let it Be" in 1970. Awesome.
Today should be a holiday for all of those reasons. Ocho de Mayo!
