I love fashion but I feel like if you don't have the typical look (white, with long hair or some edgy hair cut) or the money to afford a gareth pugh jacket and dress like that on a daily basis at your intership, they don't care two craps about you. It seems like she got it easy and didn't even have to put her foot in the door, someone already open the door for her.

It pisses me off and makes me more reclusive to even try

To those of you looking for fashion internships... don't be hard on yourselves.There's a reason why girls like this get amazing jobs at such a young age. Colby is a friend of a friend, and I've met her. Her family is very rich and well-connected, which is how she landed this job as well as her Teen Vogue internship. Don't worry, you can make it without initial connections. It's a lot harder, but in the end, you can be proud of your accomplishments because you actually put in the hard work!

@lightyagami2294 Yeah I hate it that peopole who are rich or have friends who have connections w/ major designers have oppertunities like this handed to them. If they work hard and do amazing things, like Anna Wintour for example, that's fine. But if they don't, it sucks for the people who have to do the dirty work and wait until 5-10 years or so just to achieve her internship that she started at 15 years old. I'm not bashing Colby in any way, shape, or form, but it just really frusterates me!

I'm happy for how much this girl has accomplished in such a short time but this a super unrealistic view of fashion internships. Never have I known any intern that has gotten to attend any of the fashion industry parties as a guest or have a designer make them an accessory. This girl (or her family) must be well connected. I'm not bashing the girl but I just want other interns to know that this is not the norm. Most of us interns start at the bottom of the fashion totem pole.

we are the same age and the only difference is i have no job no connects and no fab clothes that a designer made just for me ughhhh btw i luv her glasses omg i need to step my game up then if we are the same age and we are sooo different she is already doing what i hope to do in college ! @oth153 exactly! you have to be in college but designers should really consider that this is the time we should start and its better for 14 years olds to intern we don't need to be paid for yet unlike a college student who has major expenses and by the time we would be in college we would be settled into what we want to do . This is an outrage! I want to work for someone in the industry i know i'm ready
