I read an article in the Australian about 2 months ago, there was a mass die-off of these birds. They had a bumper breeding season and then there was a heat wave. Tens of thousands died of heat-stroke. But that is the way of the budgies in the wild, breed en-mass when times are good, so the numbers will survive the harsh times. The photos were hard to see, but that is nature, survival of the fittest makes the survivors stronger.
I also wish budgies were wild here in the US, but they're not, so we think of them as beautiful and exotic since we don't see them often (pets you see often, though), so we don't take them for granted, so we appreciate them more.
I want to steal one (or 2)... It'd be good to have a budgie that was not interbred for color.
