  • i had a 94 with a 2.3 out pulled and out hauled my dads 93 shevy sport with v6 ( both standerd) and all stock.

  • How much did you invest and what did you invest in?

  • MORE BOOST!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice, but i know this is a 2.3 but with just a 95 ranger stock engine i think a 4 cyl would u need anything for turboing it? I just have a feeling once i get a turbo i'll be spending more and more money putting into it, i plan on gettin an intake thats just about it, nothin special, already have a catback with glasspack on it, and my friend said i needed a different exhaust, but idk

  • @MrToXiC090 the stock non-turbo pistons can't handle much boost, but you could probably run a few pounds with a good intercooler and careful driving. keep a very close eye on the papers and junkyards for a ford 2.3 turbo car, and I would advise googling the turboford forums

  • look for a thunderbird turbo coupe engine, merkur xr4ti engine, or svo mustang engine, all between years 1985 and to about '89, already built for lots of psi, my xr4ti was taking 20psi all day...then i sold it :(

  • What company made the turbo?

  • so is that a 3.0 ranger or what?? jsut curious cuz i have a turbo kit for my 3.0 on the way here and is the motor built at all?

  • no its a 2.3 trubo diesel

  • omg its a 2.3 gas ford hasnt made a diesel ranger since 1983 fkn noob

  • its a 2.3 read the info

  • I really like this truck. How come you dont see many turboed 3.0's? 2.3's are easier to work on and all that, but a 3.0 can take more abuse...

  • i donno about, the 2.3 is one of the toughest motors you will find.

  • Well, I was doing a little offroading with a friend, and he had a 91 ranger with a 2.3. He overheated his and mine was still cool to the touch. Then agian it ran out of trannsmission fluid, and I had to pull him out...

  • just because your friend has a dud doesnt mean they all suck. ive seen them run to 400,000 with no troubles...

  • I have seen some go 500,000. There fantastic engines... But I've grown attached to the engine I have!

  • I never said they suck.

  • It really disapoints me that they replaced the 2.5 with the mazda 2.3. I wish they had put a little more work into the 2.5 though. I know they could have made more power with it from the factory.

  • @Magnuspire If ford had kept to the 2.3, but made it a DOHC turbo motor and just ran 6-8psi stock, the ranger would have been legendary for longevity and capability. Not to mention the motor was already in production, therefore it would have been much more cost-effective to just throw on a DOHC head and keep the same short block. Ford just had a few dumb years when it came to engines in their trucks, so now we have to depend on the enthusiasts to build the ranger ford SHOULD have made

  • @holmd90 Ain't that the damned truth. My stroked out 2.5L with my 3.73 gears and my 5 speed manual is pretty stout for a 4 cyl. It'll pull an S-10 all over God's creation. Ford does some great things, then some bone headed things just like the rest of them. Honestly, I would never give up my Lima for a Duracrap motor.

  • @Magnuspire Amen to that. It was saddening that ford dropped the lima for a boat-anchor v6 in the mustangs and thunderbirds as well. I want to meet the brains in charge of those changes and give them a good finger-wagging...

  • @1969MustangMACH1 it isn't that hard to find. There's older ones through the early to mid 90's in ranger, the 2.5's were in the years of 08-00 but the only difference is that a 2.5 is just a stroked 2.3 so it's still the same in escence. And then the duratec 2.3 are still made from 01 - present i believe, not entirely sure but i know 01-05 for sure is duratec 2.3's. They're in the focus too. and if youwant a turbo motor try a stock 87-88 Ford T/C they"re good and ppl often use them for it

  • um id say there equal 3.0s have a cam sincro problem and a pinging problem bad heads id say there equal id rather boost a 2.5 my opinion

  • 3.0 Ranger, Custom Holset turbo kit for a 3.8 Mustang, 253,000 and change before it was killed in a tree related accedent

  • Most problems iv'e seen in the 3.0 3.8 and 4.0 is bad cranks, if your going to be heavy tuning a motor the 2.3L is the one to go for, ive seen people run B234 Volvo DOHC heads on them and all kinds of other crazy stuff, yes the 2.3 can hold a turbo stock but wont benefit from it as much as a full out turbo build. not to mention ive heard of several people owning a 93-97 with 300,000 miles + and still running, and they are used on a farm so they don't get babied. 4cyl 1650lb payload explains it.

  • @Hotarihanzo these trucks pratically last forever lol

  • Nope. doubt that. My 2.3 has 390,000km's on it i ran 30PSI through it for 6 months beating on it like no other. Took 6 months to blow it up. still runs but major knocks and noises but a freshly built 2.5L stroker is on its way in this winter.

  • Did you replace the valve covers and gaskets?

  • yeap

  • wut man you ran 30 psi for 6 months stock???! aahahahahahah nice I knew ford are unkillable but not at this point, Got a b2300 looking to put a turbo onto it cuz maybe I wanna swap the block someday. go check my ford taurus videos. Ford are INDESTRUCTIBLE.!!

  • Wouldnt go for the stroker if i were you its only a 7mm stroke and wont hold a turbo as well as the 2.3, rule of thumb is about 8.0-9.0:1 compression for a turbo motor and a 2.3 is already 9.7:1 i think, just buy a 93-97 2.3 block and build the motor yourself, there are a few performance companies offering 8.2-8.5:1 compression forged and balanced aluminum pistons along with matching crank. i mean if you build it right the numbers and durability will reflect it.

  • What all did he do to it and how much did it cost? I'd love to make my old ranger run like this.

  • i take that back about the time slip i just watched that fucking thing run 14.22 "turbo ranger at the drag strip" wow thats quick for a little ranger, but i still think thats stupid that you put 11.5 i knew just by watchin the first vid that theres no wat it runs 11s not even close your about 3 seconds off pace there TARD!!!!!

  • you drive a focus STFU your the TARD!

your so gay! did you pull an engine swap and time and money into your shitbox???

NOPE.... you have the gay version of his and mine engines and your shits straight tokyo drift! not to mention i garrentee youve never owned a svo or anything 2.3t

you also know nothing about cars CLEARLY, please go eat a bullet...

  • Obviously you don't know anything about spelling.

  • mxt2s are you fucking serious i have to see a time slip to believe that garbage this thing wouldn't see 11s if it had a turbo v8 not only would it not hook but itd twist the whole rear end outta the truck, why say its fast when its not, doesnt make sense, why dont you just say its runs 15s i mean id respect a true time even if it wasnt that fast over a made up bullshit time like 11.5 thats fucking BS

  • thing about this truck is..it dosnt have a 2.3L any more..if you watch a few more of the turbo ranger videos you'll find that it now has a 2.5T and is pushing near 400 RWHP

  • Damn that truck looks exactly like mine, i wish i had that motor though!!

  • i want to put a turbo on my 2.3 ranger now lol

  • seems pretty fast on video

imagine the same truck with a turbo 4.0

  • that or a supercharged 4.6

  • but this truck is pretty sweet not gonna lie

  • that ranger works some good for a ford

  • looks stock but it's badass, nice sleeper

  • since its not your truck i will say you dont need boost to go fast im all motor i have a 302 in my ranger with 340hp and i would bet my truck would beat this ranger easy and i know im gonna get negitive responses so within a couple weeks ill post a video to prove it

  • This ranger runs low 12's at 112-113MPH. Soon as race season opens I'll post up a 11.5sec pass. You wana race for pinks??

    Watch

    Youtube video ID 4aqcTmZznY

    &

    Youtube video ID f43fqVzCzuw

  • This truck will split your wig I've seen it clip a lot of cars that on paper should be a lot faster than a 340hp 302 ranger.

  • yeah thats on paper there is alot more to it than just your power like your driver for instance or how well its tuned or programed what kind of ignition system your using ill try to post some videos of my truck soon keep checking my profile

  • You realize this truck runs 11.5's right? Unless your 302 ranger is gutted to hell and is sitting on a tire chances are you ain't touching this truck.

  • not to be a dick or anything but you do realize your dissing a truck you dont know shit about and just for your info my truck is identical to this with a engine straight from ford racing sitting on 24s on 410 gears i promise you my truck would keep up with this one so ill put a video together this coming weekend will me beating a cummins with stacked chips, turbo work, and exaust built by a custom racing shop by 5 truck lengths be suitable for you

  • Ive actually seen it and touched it and talked to the owner in person, you are judging this truck on how it does a burnout.

  • im talking about you saying stuff on my truck when you dont know anything about ill post a video and you will feel retarted end of story

  • due to weather conditions (6 inches of snow) i will not beable to post a new video of my truck i will get no traction but i still will post a running video of it when i just got it done whil it was still sitting on 30in mudders

  • Haha is this the one thats always up at Zelie flash light drags? If so that shit is quick.

  • LOL, Yes this is the same one. Runs 15PSI on this vid. At Zelie it was pushing 30PSI. traps 12.1 at 113.98 MPH in the 1/4mi.

  • nice surge :) lol.. all bs aside, nice truck.

  • i love it how the truck shakes as you shift....its even cooler inside

  • badass

  • o yes the faboulous 2.3L ranger. i had one a AWSOME motor that took every kind of abuse i could throw at it. and to turbo that motor really isn't hard. the header already comes ready to fit a turbo just hook it up

  • dude,, that sounds like it has compressor surge,,,,, not good,,

  • or a blow off valve, which is good.

  • Now you're talking man. I have to do something about my 94 2.3L cuz right now it's sitting at about 100HP which is pathetic. Any suggestions? Other than getting another truck/car lol

  • can i throw a turbo setup on my 99 ford ranger 2.5? that looks nice and sounds nice.

  • that shit quick

  • If you all go to RPS you can find all that info and no it's not that much money

  • not really, but he has put tons of cash into doing it. I think mostly because it's something that no one else has done. Especially with the 2.5 he's using.

  • what did u need for the computer works? did u need larger fuel injectors? whats the top speed?

  • I have a 98 ranger wit the 2.5 n i was wondering if you could give me some info on puttin a turbo on mine? Thanks

  • that looks like a 2.5L i have the same color and style as that

  • yeah i think the 98-2000 had a 2.5 in it

  • i have both a carbed 83 stang with a 5.0 and a svo with the 2.3 turbo. depends on what u really want. 2.3 turbo are more reliable and fun. you can make same times with more power from the 5.0 just would eat a shit ton of gas. as for stroking it to 2.5 that seems like a good idea :)

  • Why would i drop a 5.0L into it?? I was trapping 106.2MPH in the 1/4 with a best of 13.5 sec (should have been mid 12's with a better 60' time) with the stock head & cam. I now have a ported big valve head with a built c4, next run at the track will be mid 11's at 115+ MPH truck is making close to 400RWHP. The 5spd transmission spit out the gears that is why the c4 sets in it's place.

  • dude your gunna blow your ranger up. your bov is to tight. that fluttering noise is the air going backwords through your turbo. trust me it happend to one of my friends. he thought it was a cool bov or like a ssqv. but it was becuase the blow off valve was not opening and releasing the boost presure

  • He blew it up ages ago. He put lots of money into rebuilding it as a 2.5L instead of a 2.3L. Now he's pushing really close to 400RWHP as it stands. His xcal-2 tuner reports his 0-60 at 3.8sec. This truck can move now that he's put some time into it. Keep in mind that this video he was pushing in the low to mid 20psi range. Now I think he's pushing 25+ Psi with no turbo chop.

  • better idea, drop a 5.0 mustang V8 in it. :)

  • Tons of work, I've already looked into it...

  • waist of money/time. you can throw in a stock 88 tc engine in one of these things or use the turbo set-up and WAX 5.0L

  • not enuff boost

  • Yeah don't! Buy a Turbo engine and swap it! Much Easyer and more cost effecent.

  • where and how much did u pay for the turbo system and was it difficult to install? what exhaust do u have? i jave a 1990 wit a 2.3 and im goin to modify it any suggestions

  • rangerpowersports. com

That guy would be Jesshwherren on Rangerpowersports.

His personal website is rangersrevenge. com

If I'm not mistaken that was back when he had the 2.3L turbo, now he's working on using the 2.5L turbo which seems to use boost more efficiently.

Really, if you want to know about turboing your truck RPS is where you will find the info.
