I've played this game with my father when I was like 6 or 7, and I remember those days even now, being extremely happy for every little finding or level up. Only Gothic 2 brought back some of those memories.(also played with my father:))

@TheAofSpades my father was looking me playing this game many times, at last he started playing it too :D he was very mad because i not told him that he will loose his whole money if he took it in the coffin in his house in old camp before he had to leave in chapter 4 or 5... dont know xD

I love this game. The atmosphere was so... i cant describe it, I played it when i was like 11 years old, now im 20. I miss this game, when i first played it. No other game gave me the same feeling again

Each time I hear a gothic soundtrack I feel like crying.. feeling this old mystery.. the 1st time I explored the valley of mines.. I wish I could get a brainwash so I would experience it again..

Any other game on this planet wasn't even close to that feeling this game caused everytime I turned off the lights in my room, sat in front of my computer and just.. let the game literally breathe myself inside for the entire night, till the dawn started to break.. It cannot be explained in words..

But it appears we will be re-playing Gothic forever.. Piranha Bytes have abandoned us, and they also lost their skills.. Risen was never as good as Gothic. And it will never be the succession of the Gothic story..

@n3cromanc3r66 it is an endless shame that all the fame Gothic 1 gained, slowly dies and the generations of tomorrow will never be able to understand such distinctive and amazingly deep, atmospheric game and story, because they're determined to get drawn into the world of commercial or massive mmorpg games, that have no point, no story, no sense, nothing.. I'm really glad that I've been given the opportunity to play this game at its best time and make this opinion..

Sure it's a fairly large world but the style of gameplay and this music creates a great claustrophobic, dark, mysterious atmosphere that makes you really feel like you are in a prison, rough, real world.

@DX7036 And the sad part is, you can't re-live those memories to their fullest. It happened the same with Diablo 1... such a nice game...dark and grim with epic music... In D2 it lost a bit of it's epicness... Or is it just us that grow up and have different expectations from the games...? Don't think we'll ever know...

also, when you get older you find more and more things in the game that you'd dislike if you replayed it which you didnt care about back then..... gothic was the first 3d rpg i played and this genre was soooo new to me and as a kid feelings are so much more intense, from which only the ones positive remain typically...

yes we are not the only one

when i first played gothic this world seemed sooo big and mysterious for me, well same with all games (especially oddworld, abe's oddysee....legendary game) its sad gothic is so linear and you cannot really enjoy that world as much as in oblivion or morrowind, it didnt have any non-quest dungeons and you couldnt create your own character (in morrowind for example i went trhough one dungeon killing everyone with spear and next time i just sneaked past etc.)

Ich bin mit diesem Spiel aufgewachsen und ich liebe es immer noch.

Diese Musik lässt einen wirklich in die Vergangenheit setzen.

Die Reihe Gothic endet für mich mit der Abreise in die Unbekannte Lande am ende von Gothic 3 :(

Da kann ich dir nur zustimmen..für mich war Gothic I "das Gothic"...die zwei war auch noch sehr gut (inklusive der Erweiterung) und die drei war auch trotz anfänglicher Bugs nen voller Erfolg! Aber seit Gothic IV hat die Reihe ihren Glanz verloren...das kann auch Risen nicht wett machen...

...Falls du das nicht wusstest: Wie stellst du dir das vor? Das ist ein Team von 20 Mann, die können schlecht Risen und nebenbei ArcaniA entwickeln. :D Bisschen viel Aufwand.

Das das ein anders Team war wusste ich schon...eben weil`s nicht mehr das Team von G1 - G3 ist, G4 sonen Flopp...und Risen passt auch deshalb nicht so ganz zu den anderen Gothics...

Das war ein geniales Spiel. Ich weiss noch, dass ich zu meinen Abi Zeiten den ganzen Tag nur Gothic gezockt habe und dabei meine Noten echt schlecht geworden sind , weil mich das Spiel so gefesselt hat.

Gothic 2 + DNdR war auch noch ein verdammt gutes Spiel. Gothic 3 war zu anfang nicht wirklich gut spielbar, aber mit CP und Questpaket ist es inzwischen auch recht passabel. Götterdämmerung war dann einfach nur ein großer BUG.

So und nun ist inzwischen Gothic 4 draußen, dass komplett versaut ist.

Bei mir war es genauso. Ich hab zuerst Gothic 2 gespielt. Dann dachte ich mir "Du musst auch den ersten Teil spielen!". Leider war das genau zu den Prüfungszeiten.

gothic sure had a free world where you could easely lost even if it had the barrier. The forests were scary even in daytime, and it had a feeling that no other games had

@lamarr233...aye, Gothic had a unique effect on me. I really felt "there". It had that ... possible alternative reality feeling and the knowledge that I was an ant there but with all the freedom and potential in the world ...

I never felt so exited about a game before. Even my first trip to the sect camp was an adventure because it was night time and my only guide were those blueish torches... I lost Lester because I stopped to listen to the music hehe
