However, though it may be a valid and true question that she is asking of God, we must know that we cannot lay the blame on God for taking a life. Job 34:10 states that God does nothing cruel or unjustly. Rev 12:9 tells us that the devil is misleading the whole earth. Therefore, Rom 5:12 which in harmony tells as that because the devil misleads us, and death is a result of sin - God does not cause death.
@DgreeCelcius Apart from this must important acknowledgement that God is not cruel and therefore does not take life - the voices on this song are really good. Each one of them brings there own attraction to the song.
BM's guitar solo fits perfectly. Here Kristina's soul is in turmoil, and BA and BU figured that a disted guitar was the right way to carry out that message. Listen to the original. We are immediately aware that there is something extraordinary about Kristina's state of mind.
I like this, Kerry certainly has a good voice, but lacks the emotion the lyrics dictate. No one can ever better Helen Sjoholm singing this. Even though I dont speak the language, the original swedish version 'Du maste finnas' has me in tears every time.
I also like Brian May, but his guitar doesnt suit this song.
@FlowingRooms Going to have to disagree on this one. The lyrics should be the most important thing in this song every time. When you are pleading with God, questioning his existence for the first time in your life, a guitar solo is very unimportant. As I said I Iike Brians guitar playing very much, he is great. But please not in this song!
@discogareth Before disagreeing you would need to understand what I am saying. Obviously within a short comment it's difficult to express collective knowledge that spans ages. While I also have doubts about Brian's project here, I need to point out that with music, you cannot take things so literally - never with religion either. Brian's Guitar has always expressed the Lady's point of view (faith but also independence). Kerry's lyrics are just a newer extension of that. Nothing is unimportant!
@FlowingRooms What i am trying to say is that, with song in particular, it is the lyric and feeling in the voice that is the most important. It is a kind of prayer. It is almost like it has been turned into a pop song, where really it sould be kept in the original context of the musical it is from. If you have ever listened or had the rare chance to see 'Kristina fran Duvemala' you will understand what I mean. A complex and extremely moving story. Musical by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.
@discogareth The problem arises when your faith in God prevents you from having faith in Man, and that includes yourself. During this torment, your Soul keeps showing you the light. Remember that... the "Devil" could not recognize God (Love) within Man, could not recognize that there was no essential difference. The inner negativity prevents us from recognizing Love within ourselves - we feel worthless and we cannot fathom what "God" really wants - easy, to truly believe in ourselves.
@FlowingRooms Maybe, Im being stupid, but I really dont understand what that has to do with guitar solos and 'Kristina's character. The song is sung by Kristina who, for the first time in her life is questioning the exsistence of God. What may or may not be the case in the 21st century world, is a far cry from that of the 19th century when the song is supposed to be from.
this is the closest youre going to get to Queen and ABBA together. lol
