  • What a classic bloke, always looking great those Beatles.....

  • Paul McCartney is really great. Look how he admires Elvis.

  • he's sick dude

  • it may be a historical instrument, but i wonder who the manufacturer of the bass is. Could play like crap and be worthless as an instrument. And Elvis didnt play the bass, watch Forrest Gump.

  • @intothechamber lol doesnt matter wtf? picture if jimi hendrixxx first guitar was shitty brand? niggerrrr

  • @intothechamber it was a kay bass, kay bass's are quite expensive now

  • Always knew Paul and the rest of the Beatles were big Elvis fans. Love them all and thanks for all the the great tunes.

  • Ive never rated Paul McCartney much as a bass player. What a fool I've been.

  • Paul is Dead.

  • Paul Died Nuff Said

  • That was awesome!

  • Justin Bieber in year 2050: This is a mystery object! This is the original Paul Mccartney bass, the one he used in the Beatles.

  • @loombaron we need to do the impossible to NOT allow Fukcing Biebir touch that bass

  • @loombaron Srly?

  • @loombaron FUCK NO¬¬¬¬¬

  • the spirit of Elvis possessed him in that quick couple of seconds

  • You can tell that he doesnt know what he's doing on the upright the way he's positioning himself and his fingerss.

  • @Zekester27 Well. He plays left-hand. But the string-set-up was right-hand. So i understand why it could be a little difficult. But he is not the best bassplayer in the worlde eighter thow.

  • @Zekester27 Of course he doesn't. He doesn't usually play upright bass. Do we really have to tell you what Paul McCartney does?

  • 666666 views! :O

  • Amazing! The Strings are placed for right hand players...Paul ist great!!

  • @Giacomorocky that's not true

  • he's the greatest rock n roll singer ever. listen to oh darlin!

  • Paul McCartney - "The British Elvis"

  • @TeamMastaPr2 no sorry apparently Cliff Richard is -.-

  • Unreal talent.. pure raw & no one can take that away from this Great musician.. PAUL you are BOSS ...

  • Even more amazingly, he plays that baby stringed back-to-front from his left-handed perspective O_O

  • You can tell he dosen't play upright often. He plays it just like an electric.

  • WHAT THE HELL CAN PAUL McCARTNEY NOT DO???

  • @codeorangeXC bad things.

  • Were they both lefties?

  • I can never figure out left-handed players... looks crazy

  • I EMAILED PAUL MCCARTNEY AND ASKED FOR 100 QUID

    THE FUCKER COMPLETELY IGNORED ME

    SO FUCK PAUL MCCARTNEY

  • @matchbox555 You should post something like that on w***the-beatles.pl

You wouldn't survive a nanosecond. Nice try but to be a good troll you have to practice a bit more.

  • What a lovely moment from a guy who didn't want to play bass, but had to play it anyway. And became the best bass player of his time.

  • Help me please!!! Can't find out what is he saying at 1:22. "and this little baby struck to the roof rack" am i wright ?

  • @MusikGRock: I hear "and this little baby *strapped* to the roof rack".

  • @YouzTube99 Oh, that's make more sense, thank you !!!

  • why is he playing it opposite?

  • @KeAndriaISAwesome prob cuz he's leftie.

  • @KeAndriaISAwesome because he is left handed.

  • Awsome!!!

  • @corky2290 oh good point!

  • hes dressed like han solo xD

  • Elvis driving, Scotty Moore, and Bill Black.. and this little baby strapped to the roof rack

my.. he even rhymes in speech

  • I had no idea how much respect these guys (john/paul/george/ringo) had for Elvis... WOW!

  • @zeromant80 they grew up with elvis.

  • This bass was played on Elvis' best records.

Now it belongs to Paul McCartney.

Can you imagine what it's WORTH?

  • @Drblooter99 you might want to know that his first mrs (Linda) bought it at auction for him as a christmas present)l

  • @histre101

    I didn't know that, thanks!

  • It’s interesting how he’s playing pizzicato up high on the fingerboard, like a normal electric bass.

  • Thought it was gonna be a carbonite bath he was unveiling

  • Looks like han solo

  • Amazing video... I love ELV1S and love Sir Paul and ALL his story!!! (Yeah... well... His present too) HI FROM I-TA-LEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

  • Right handed strings/Left handed, bah. Face it people, Paul could could play the bass if it had NO strings. This here is a video for music lovers

  • he is playing it as left handed dude, not as right handed.

  • I just think it's funny that his standard instrument is basically the same thing just a lot smaller!

  • Paul didn't switch the strings around. He's playing a right-handed bass left-handed. Good for him for not messing with an historical instrument.

  • @82compoundw

But it had to be tuned before he played it. Isn't that technically messing with it just the same?

  • Not to be rude, but what kind of fucktard would dislike this?!

  • well i was going to say that i thought it was han solo at first. it seems it's not a clever statement anymore

  • for those who didn't know. Paul can play lefty, righty and left-handed/right-handed with their strings reversed

  • @zeromant80 Quite amazing.

  • @zeromant80 Yep..I noticed that the bass was still stringed right-handed.

Macca is one of my favorite bass players Awesome!

  • @bobyoung53 i'm not a true fan of his so i wouldn't know, thank you for telling me

  • isn't he on the wrong side... unless he's left handed or something?

  • Is it just me or is this guy the most talented musician on the planet? There's great song writers, great singers, great bass players, great guitarist, great piano players, but Paul McCartney does all of these things at The highest level. And he's a great speaker/entertainer too. Notice how he talks without boring you, dropping in little visuals and jokes...

  • I love Paul, but you would think he would of learned playing the bass with the right hands

  • @Shepp2400 He's left-handed.

  • Holy Shit. Paul praising Elvis Presley! I think im in heaven O_____O!

  • uh no.. han solo came first...... a long, long time ago... in a galaxy far, far away... star wars takes place YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAARRRRSSSSS ago.. like thousands.. its just that the galaxy and planet it takes place on was already superbly developed... ive only seen 2 star wars movies when i was 7 and i know this.. cmon people... its the first sentence of the entire franchise...

  • @Agent00Devon the history of SW its like being told in the past present. that's why its starts with "a long, long time ago" altho it could be like you just said

  • And was Bill Black's bass the model for Paul's fiddle bass he used when playing with the Beatles?

  • no han was long ago in a galaxy far far away..... han was first lol

  • was elvis a beatle or was beatle paul an elvis?

  • @ahaaaaaaaaah hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

  • God playing The King

  • He's playing an upright lefty wtf??

  • Wow, he can really sing like Elvis.

  • Didn't Elvis try to get the Beatles deported?

  • How cute :( it's so cool to see him doing b/c I'm a string player myself!!!

  • aww I like him. Elvis was awesome

  • Petty it doesn't sound like Bill Black's bass, even though it is. They used gut strings back in the day and someone's put steel strings on it. Sacrilege!

  • @Jasper6120 Well, Paul IS a veggie don't forget ;-)

  • Excuse my ignorance and I'm not trying to rub anyone up the wrong way but I just don't understand the double bass. Why do people play double bass these days when they could play bass guitar? Why do people choose to play an instrument that's obviously too big and not practical? Imagine playing a guitar that big. Or imagine that you have the choice of playing a saxophone which is light and easy to use or play a sax which is heavy, not practical and bigger than you, which would you choose?

  • @andresdalessandro every instrument has different tonal qualities; a bass guitar would not have the same tonal qualities as the upright, and vice versa. musicians choose their instruments based on what kind of sound they want to achieve

  • @spinarium thanks that makes a lot of sense

  • @andresdalessandro obviously any musician would choose the instrument that they like the sound best, and what they have more fun playing.

  • @andresdalessandro originally, upright basses were used in large orchestras, usually in groups of six or more, and contributed to the lows in the band. later, they were used in big jazz bands because when jazz was created, amplification for instruments didn't exist. today, they're still used, for the sole purpose that it's still enjoyed in jazz, classical, even country. in terms of its practicality, it provides its own amplification, and often tones that any existing instrument can NEVER attain.

  • @andresdalessandro yeah it sounds very different from an electric bass guitar. the way hes playing it is not with the best technique for the upright so his tone is kinda weak.. but non the less he is great. the thing is in music such as jazz and classical, the more artistic forms of music, a the muscian demands a real instrument such as this one.

  • @andresdalessandro Find one and play it a little bit, and then you'll understand. I could very well ask what people find so appealing about a little instrument you have to plug in to get decent but metallic bass tones out of.

  • @andresdalessandro I have to say I agree. I love the sound you get from an upright, but it can be pretty well replicated on a fretless acoustic strung with flatwound strings. I play a dean fretless. It even has fretmarkers ( though I'm sure this would be frowned upon..... ) It sounds like the real thing, but is easy to move around, easy to play, and much cheaper....and yes, if you're reading between the lines - No I cant play a double bas and wish I could :-)

  • @andresdalessandro Because its got a different tone which can't be 100% replicated on an electric...

  • Who's more overated ,Elvis or The Beatles? That's a toss up man!

  • If I ever met Macca I know that the nerves and excitement would get to me , with tears in my eyes I would fart follow through and shat my pants , Great clip and good to know that bass is in good hands .

  • its funny how giddy paul is imaging elvis would be right infront of that bass...if i ever owned any of paul or the beatle's instruments i would probably act the same way.

  • @NAOIFE i wish you were the first

  • The most talented man on the planet

  • How is this song named ?

  • @Andresbeatguy the song is called Heartbreak Hotel

  • @MrBroadcast100 OOhh man thanks I notice it was named Heart Break hotel when i read all the description but anyway thanks good luck

  • @Andresbeatguy Heartbreak hotel - elvis presley

  • @antronix thanks

  • A unique moment in history of music.

  • hey can anyone tell me how is this song named ??

  • I would hope some of you folks might realize that Linda bought that bass for him.

  • It sounds like a recorderd version of the song, instead of live.

    This man is amazing <3

  • aww he's still so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Paul is a sweetheart, a lover of music, and a damn good musician himself-in whatever order you wish!!

  • What band was this guy in?

  • @94Cioppa The Beatles! :D

  • @94Cioppa The Beatles, Wings...

  • In 2:09 he does a weird note!

  • 110 people are stupid!

  • @RCVictoria

    Such an unoriginal joke..

  • it's neat to see... one of my heros.. talkin about one of his... very cool.

  • ooohhhh! amazing....

  • yeah its not strung lefty. he is playing it backwards.

  • 110 people have no taste in good artists

  • @99dj88., it was strung in reverse..see posted x soggywasabi

  • @99djc88 ......yes that was the real one., r u a guitarist? so funny hahaha., You can change the position of string fr. upper to lower / ( and internal pick up if necessary , most for electric one ) ex., 1st string to 4th string, 2-3, 3-2 and 4-1., learn about it.,

  • Is he playing that thing backwards? I want to play double bass but can't find any lefty ones.

  • @KaycieSattz Yeah!!! WTF? it's strung the normal way but he's play it lefty!!! Paul is so fricking talented.

  • @KaycieSattz Yeah, he's playin' backwards, you can't change the strings just like acoustic guitars, because of the double bass construction. If you want a lefty one, you need to get someone to make it, specially four you.

But it's gonna be expensive. My advice: play backwards just like Paul and I ('cause I'm lefty too).

  • @22LEHR what do you mean with that bro? the double bass construction could you explain that to me

    thanx :D

  • @TheDux09 If you look inside the f-hole of double bass you'll see on the G string side there is a sound post that spans between the top and back of the bass, in line with the bridge foot. The E string side has a long piece of wood glued to the top, beneath the E string. These two parts contribute to the sound of the instrument as well as provide structural strength. So, you've got to reversed, for appropriate sound.

That's why I told you to play it backwards, it's cheaper.

  • @22LEHR thanx man that was helpfull, and its crazy how a lefty can have so many problems for traying to learn how to play an instrument :O

i like the upright bass but im barely starting with the guitar so lets see if in the future im became able to buy one and lern how to play one

thanx for the info bro i apreciate it

  • @TheDux09 Anytime, I understand you 'cause I'm a musician too (And lefty) And I really know the problems we got in a right handed world. But, you know? Paul is lefty, just like Hendrix, so they did it, you'll be able to do it too. Good luck.

  • @22LEHR it's not that hard to play single lines with no bending upside down chords and bends get weird for me though. i've only had a lefty guitar around a few times though and it's interesting how it breaks your habits and makes you rethink the fretboard.

  • @rillloudmother Yeah, you're right. I've been a musician for about 19 years, so it's easy for me now to play even a right handed guitar, the problem was when I started. That's why I told TheDux to keep on playin', and he'll be able to be a great musician. just like that

  • @22LEHR going on 25 years here.

  • So Paul stands left handed on a standard right hand bass because he is left handed. If that bass were the real one it would have been right handed. Was this strung for Paul or not really the Elvis bass?

  • @99djc88 it was strung in reverse

  • @99djc88 No, man, this is the real Elvis Presley's double bass. And it's right handed, he's just playing backward. I can tell , because I play the double bass too, and I know the chords. Paul is a genious, he doesn't need to change the strings.

  • No, man, this is the real Elvis Presley's double bass. And it's right handed, he's just playing backward. I can tell , because I play the double bass too, and I know the chords. Paul is a genious, he doesn't need to change the strings.

  • @99djc88 @99djc88 ......yes that was the real one., r u a guitarist? so funny hahaha., You can change the position of string fr. upper to lower / ( and internal pick up if necessary , most for electric one ) ex., 1st string to 4th string, 2-3, 3-2 and 4-1., learn about it.,

  • Gosh, suckups...

  • I don't think Paul is in competition with Dave Holland as a bassist. They're different talents and I'm sure even Dave would acknowledge Paul's genius for composing basslines. .

  • OMG hez da next dave holland!!!!10verrated!!!!!

  • That is some Elvis cover! It's an impression, even.

  • "There's 2 eras to modern music: before and after The Beatles. "

    i like that :P

  • @MegaLamka YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!! NUFF SAID.

  • @MegaLamka First, the name is not Mcarthey you dope, it's McCartney. Second, his "goopy ass love songs" have sold much more than any other living recording artist and have been covered by over 500 diferent groups and performers over 5000 times. So, while you're entitled not to like him or his music, you have a very poor basis to say he destroyed music, therefore your comment is a moot point. . There's 2 eras to modern music: before and after The Beatles. Too bad you don't agree.

  • @MegaLamka Hey bro. Chill out dude. Paul didn't ask you to jam to his stuff.

  • @MegaLamka Pretty amazing musician and performer vs. ... you? Hmm, I think I know who my money's on.

  • Paul can do it with both hands....Yeah, he's amphibious !

  • Elvis was probably jealous of the Beatles in 1965 when they met in Bel Air, but in the end, Elvis and Beatles didn't have to be jealous of anyone. Elvis knew that at the end and had come to terms with it. At least, I hope to think so. Long live the King! I will always love Elvis!!

  • Technique doesn't matter when you're a pro, morons. It's like critiquing Rafael Nadal's forehand technique because your tennis coach taught you what the true textbook technique is. Go do what Nadal does, go do what McCartney does, then you can talk.

  • @superman11978 Technique is a big part of what makes you a pro :P

  • @superman11978 What are you on about? Your argument is flawed. Just because you are taught 'one' technique doesn't mean it is the best. Players like Rafael Nadal's started off learning a specific technique then gradually improved on it over time by seeing what works well and what does not. And how to tweak it slightly for more manipulative shots.

  • Is this the bass Paul used on Real Love ?

  • @CuyahogaMustang Yes it is! :)

  • Cmon , Elvis loved the beatles.

  • Looks like he still has the strings set up for a right handed player even though he's playing it left.

  • I play the Double Bass, so thats pretty cool for me......

  • Paul turns me on...

  • paul isn´t only a great bass player, but one of the best musician of all times, if you disagree you should try recreating as well an Elvis´song to a crowd, with only a bass.

  • Yep, that's right Elvis & Paul are both dead and reincarnated into this single person calling himself Paul McCartney. Don't buy it folks! ;)
