  • That is a National steel-bodied resonator. I've been playing since about 1997. I'm not that great at it, I just like to play for the fun of it.

  • Thank you, standing up and clapping!

  • Thank you so much!! Really appreciate it!

  • That's a very interesting style you got there. How did you learn to play this particular version of the song?

  • Well, this particular version was done by the late, great John Campbell. I had never heard this song before until I heard John do it on his Howlin Mercy album. He did an OUTSTANDING job at it to say the least. To compare John's version to Led Zepplin's is interesting as well.

  • @Vanillablooos but he aint the original composer, i think it's kansas Joe Mccoy

  • @Vanillablooos I saw John Cambell do this at the Caravan of Dreams - Fort Worth in 91. I was sitting at a small table front & center (right in front of his mic stand). I was there to see Chris Whitley (who played first & was mind blowing). It floored me when John rocked "When the Levee Breaks". He was a brutal, howling menace. Hot , sweaty, loud, cold-drink-flowing, National Guitar evening. I went out and got Howlin' Mercy the next day & played it for two months.

  • Wow, great job dude! Keep on singing!

  • Great Job Mate.

  • Thank you! I appreciate that very much!

  • Awesome, you are talented!

  • I love it!!! GREAT!!!

  • Thanks so much!! Glad you enjoyed it!!

  • So is this how the original sounds? I've wanted to hear it.

  • WOW! Wish I had music in my bones!!

  • i blasted htis video out of my speakers. It was sick man great slide.

you just need to record this with some drums and bass.. then your golden!

    god awesome blues! great job

  • One of the greatest performances I've seen on Youtube. Guys like you should be famous!

  • That was some mighty fine pickin and grinnin! :) Seriously as a southern boy and a zeppelin fan I am pleased

  • Dude, that is exactly how that song should sound.

forget Zeppelin, give it a good old swamp sound, and away we go.

    nice Dobro also bro....
