Excellent video, i recently started opening my clubface on the back swing whereas before I would leave it square all the way through the back swing. I am definitely making better contact but I am curious as to the reasoning for opening the clubface on the backswing?
What are the disadvantages to keeping the club square through the entire swing? Viceversa, what are the advantages to opening it and closing it through impact?
The reason we want to allow the club face to rotate the club face open on the back swing is to create a more powerful hinge or bending of the wrists at the top of the swing. This move can create more power. Some pros although keep there club face more square or shut on the backswing, and have success. Find the method that works you. A more shut face on the backswing can be easier to hit a draw from possibly, while a more open face on the backswing is easier to hit a fade from.
