agree it isnt the prettyest of things but it was actualy quite small and not much thicker than a phat psp and about a third of the width of a psp

kinda like the size if not smaller than the psp go! but it did pack alot of technology into a small device, which made it seem a winner in its day, too bad it didnt last lol

yeah i cant understand why, i mean yeah it the company failed in only a short time but the device its self out did anything on the market in that time for a mobile device of its nature, im assuming it was all the bad press that made people think it was a bad device, but in actual fact it was a pretty neat box of tricks putting aside the poor 2-3hr bat life it was a pretty nifty little thing :D

these simply nothing out there that can do everything the gizmondo can without purchasing expensive addons and second, in its day it was one of the most powerfull hand helds on the market boasting bigger specs than some of the leading brand ppc devices anyways its more of a gadget than a console as its not entirely designed around gaming

with proper marketing the gizmondo would certainly have took on the big guys

oh and you can still buy them on ebay but hunt around as demand is tight for them so its pretty hard to get a new one but you might get a good condition one for really cheap prices

ive seen em sell for £30 on ebay

or head on over to gizmondoforums as there are people selling em all the time or reporting the good bargains :)

I absolutely love the Gizmondo. I just won one on eBay, joined Gizmondo Forums, and am waiting to be allowed to post in the forums. I cant wait to get it in the mail! Great vid!

Also, I would like to know why Smart Adds was being criticized? After all, you could get vouchers and discounts from stores like Seven Eleven and stuff like that. Seems pretty useful... but oh well. The Gizmondo lives! :D

yep smart adds was a great concept

plus it gave the gizmondo the option of having a discounted version for just having them that like $100 off the price tag

but nowdays there really cheap if you can get them and there really worth the money too

the adds version didnt even get adds as it never got started

even if it did start you could easily turn it off by turning off the tracking service

of course they would have eventualy blocked that with a firmware update if it worked

so in the end it was worth getting the subsidised version at around $100 £100 cheaper

nowdays even a new boxed one on ebay you can find very cheap at a fraction of the retail value

the gizmondo had alot of functions for your money :)

The Gizmondo is awesome, i still use it today, and am looking forward to buy the Widescreen/Gizmondo 2. This awesome little handheld is the reason i never even touch my cell phone, except for ringing.

I want one, I reckon all the bad reviews were by media that was bribed by the likes of Sony / Nintendo who didnt wanna lose sales to the new kid on the block, also the fact that games are available 'cheaply' heh heh heh is very attractive prospect, plus I have seen them going for like £30 with the Sat Nav kit which is cheap even for just a sat nav device, in fact its an absolute bargain! Try using your PSP to navigate - you wont get far unless you live in vice city! LOL!

the adds never worked so if you bought the reduced price version then you saved £100 on the retail value the smart adds version was subsidised by watching adds but they went bust before that ever happend so happy days :D

the only good quality that gizmondo has is that it has everything. almost all people, gamers and non would buy gizmondo (the gps, and the camera) the psp for instance, u have to buy the camera seperately and the gps can be attained by updates, or so i think

it does more than any other handheld available to date

and pong is a prety bad example of whats its capable of

try likes of colors and richard burns rally

the graphics out class even some psp titles

its capable of very decent graphics indeed

and would stand up to the leading handhelds

none of the others are fully working satnav units

none of them can be used as a fully working

pocket pc

none of them have all the features the gizmondo has all in one tiny unit

this machine would have killed both the DS and PSP if they had enough money and didnt get involved with the mob. It had more features, shamfully it had a poor desgin and was doomed right from the word go. It may have been about 3X more powerful than even a PSP (it was about the same power as the original Xbox!) it didnt hold up.

by far but the normal one i find that even though its more inovative that the ds and psp it could be more refined that it is like touch screen would be good

or mabey better designs or colours stuff like that

but i find my ds and ps more entertaining that the gizmondo since lack of games the novelty has worn off

so i only use mine for the satnav and mp3 in the car
