allysite, In America, everyone including people from the outside could offer their opinion. We are working to give a voice to Tibetans who are refugees due to the policies of China
We are individual doing something positive the with limited resources we have. Perhaps, instead of attacking you could share what you are doing that helps in any capacity. Thank you
If you want to visit Tibet, suggest you take the new railway to there. The slow rise in elevation will help you adjust the altitude. If you fly there, the sudden rise in elevation will hit you in one hour. Some low landers end up in the hospital due to altitude sickness in Tibet.
Dear CKN, we suggest Internet research. Different folks respond differently and there are different preparations depending on your own situation. Also, consult a doctor.
I learnt heaps about attitude by reading mountaineering books about 8000m peaks. The only reason why I found out about oppression in Tibet was because I was looking at Mt Everest videos on youtube and there is a Nangpa La shooting video with Mt Everest in the title.
Hardly anyone in NZ knows about Tibet because of brain dead media.
A friend of mine and I took a couple of hours or so to write a very carefully worded letter to our major local newspaper about one of their rare articles about Tibet. Our letter didn't get printed. Newspapers are out of date in my opinion because of the internet.
I ring and email our TV media to tell them about important new videos about Tibet and China and they are not interested.
My comment about media was harsh. But it certainly applies to NZ media.
But I can get good information from Germany's DWTV about World events for free and I tell my friends about it. Apparently a number of people are watching DWTV now. But with the variety of videos on the internet now even TV is a bit old fashioned in my opinion.
There are several avenues and not everything you do will see the light of day. Sometimes you have to tie it to news on China to make it relevant. As long as you view media with disrespect, its not likely you will have success. Keep working and refining and use as many media tools as you can.
Thank you... Please note that we offer a free feature DVD to anyone who will host a Tibetan Screening party with 10 guests or more. Write for details thetibetanphotoproject (at) yahoo. com
I'm following China already more than 5 years, especially because they are growing so fast.
It's terrible that the CCP with Hu Jintao is still leading China, when they still lead China in 10 or 20 years that will mean a disaster for the world.
I would suggest that if people study the history of Hu Jintao with Tibet then they would not be surprised that he has made moves to consolidate power, suppress the press, and shut down religious freedoms across the board.
They would also discover this is not a man who can be trusted in the least. This is why the perspective of Tibet's experience is valuable to the West.
Yes, China began its invasion in 1949, and after 10 years and escalation by China in 1959, Dalai Lama and the exodus of Tibetan refugees to India began en masse which alse explains the color photography. This information was taken directly from the photo at the Tibet Museum in Mcleod Ganj, India.
Tibet's history is as complicated as any. I would offer that if you think of it in today's terms, you have to think of what it represents. I would suggest an easier visit to start is the Tibetan communities of india. Read the India diaries in the gallery pages at www.tibetanphotoproject.com and thanks for the comment.

Visiting Tibet is double edged. Suggest a visit with a social conscience for the Tibetan people. Keep your wallets closed to China.

I know someone who lives at sea level. She went to 1500m and did not feel well all day.
Climbers have big problems with attitude (lower air pressure) on 8000m mountains. Do you know about climbing in Tibet?

HRT, we suggest that you forward material to friends and to media and work to educate... not insult.
Ultimately, media needs to know its a priority of their viewers and readers ... customers.

Hu Jintao was the party secretary to Tibet. His rule was extremely hardline. In 1989 he declared a brutal period of Marshall Law inside Tibet.
The consistance of Jintou's hardline is revealed to this day by his history with Tibet.

Interesting video! I liked how it started of with these peaceful scenes and then went on to show the saddest part of it's history. Moving.

All countries have a bloody history, I guess. Tibet seems like a very beautiful and peaceful place. I'd like to go travel someday.
