this game is something else, i've been a battlefield fan fo many years now and also played COD games but none of those compare to the feeling this game has, its truly a tactical game at heart, forget action and over the top linear missions, this thing will really put you in your shoes.

@bfr0d because it was fun to take a departure from the jumpy and panicky action of CoD and get tactical with my buddies to surgically take out bad guys and complete objectives on my own terms and in non-linear fashion. For once I was using my brain in a shooter and using actual teamwork to get things done. I was having so much fun that I began to ignore the bugs that plagued this game. And the limited saving points were used to increase the difficulty. If you don't like that, sorry.

What a load of bullshit and everybody on the ARMA forum would agree with me for 100%. Seriously, this is a game and a game that often requires a lot of time to finish the job. Every time when someone doesn't like the game, it's always "Go back to your COD"...sigh. Do yourself a favor and read all the negative reviews for this game at Gamespot, 90% of those negative reviews are by players who LOVE simulations and actually hate COD's style of playing. You don't know what a good game is, you're only 22 years old, I was already playing computer games 10 years before you were born son, this game is not good, period. You just like it, because you're not used to better.
And use some common sense here. This game is not made by the original team who made Flashpoint, Codemasters had to make this all from scratch. So here you have this huge open world game, lots of vehicles and soldiers and lot of complicated scripts and AI and although they released 2 updates, NONE have changed the behavior of the weapons, vehicles or soldiers, neither has there been a single AI update. Now I can tell you from years of experience with complicated simulations and strategy games...
...that it takes a lot of fine tuning to get it right. Take a game like Company of Heroes, it had TONS of updates to balance units, to update scripts, to improve AI, to improve weapon handling, to improve armor, to improve vehicles, you name it. We see the same happening with a game like ARMA II, that continues that get update after update. You can NOT make a brand new and COMPLICATED game from scratch and have the AI in perfect order and have the game perfectly balanced, it's simply IMPOSSIBLE!
Of course you could claim that the game is just perfectly balanced, that the friendly and enemy AI is top notch and that all the vehicles and weapons behave exactly the way they should, but then (mind you, only then) I would seriously doubt your mental capabilities. I'm serious, there is so much wrong with this game, but yet you keep trying to claim the opposite, when the Flashpoint forum and the many negative reviews absolutely don't agree with you.
There is reason why this game is rated a 7.5 on Xbox, PS3 and PC at gamerankingsDOTcom, a total of 73 different reviews and there is a reason why other games get a 9.5 instead....wink, wink

They promised 20-30 weapons, but they count an M4 and an M4 with a scope as two weapons. This entire game is a lie. They knew their lies would piss people off, which is why they lied about the demo, to steal from the fanbase.
Oh, and they also refused to put in an editor in the console version so they could charge for DLC that was made in the editor for PC. Such an underhanded move, I have it for pc, but still.

I hate the more cinematic gamplay of todays games but if you ask me this type of gameplay would be great if they had dramatic music like modern warfare and real locations. with the horrors of real combat that involve civilian casualties like our marines are actually experiencing. like Iraq where they are using children as spotters b/c they know it looks bad for us if we fire on them. thy got the combat down. they need put int those tough decisions our fighting forces are forced to deal with too

This game isn't no call of duty trash, where you can run-and-gun, get shot, flash red for a couple seconds, then feel better again. Also, you can't just get like 10 meters from the guy and not die. One shot equals death in this game, just like in real life. Also, if you get shot in the leg, sure you can patch it up, but you won't be able to sprint anymore. In real life, you can't be dropped right into the fire fight, you've got to run there. So this is for those military enthusiasts
Not a fan of CODMW2 here...But this game right here...Its just better than sleeping pills...Its better than reading a book. Its way better than counting sheep too. If you are having trouble sleeping, go ahead and make the purchase. You will thoroughly enjoy the multiplayer most of all. Its a real intense virtual jogging game. Just run out into the open and get killed. You'll spend 5 minutes a piece just jogging back into the firefight. If thats not enough to put you to sleep, see a doctor.
This game is full of epicness if you know anything about how a real military engagment is like.
There's not running out in th open, firing your weapon is the result of sevral minutes of observation and planning, the optics have markers for bullet drop at 300 to 400 metres, 400 to 600 for Mk-17.
The extremly large terrain makes it possible for perfuse use of co-ordinated tactics between you and your fire team, (whom you can controll individually or all at once)

Not really, this one is like real warfare. ArmA 2 for example has got a BIG ADVANTAGE over alot of its features. But has such a downwards slide in the parts where OF:DR worked on. After this game has been patched it will only go uphill.

Listen, if you're gonna support CoD at all, support CoD4! It looks downright...weird...when you justify MW2. Sure it was a "Good" game, but CoD4 was pure, no hassle, run and gun fun! The action never stopped. In MW2? Campers! Noobtubes! And much slower gameplay. Pair that with the overpowered killstreaks and you've got yourself a Killzone 2 - Killzone 3 predicament. (The series took a huge step backwards, when it was heading the the right direction!)

I play as sniper and go hide some and shoot some AI. It's lame though cause the AI just stand there really and just reappear over and over. My Kill/Death is like 400 and 30 or something stupid like that. It would be even higher but I had a lot of server disconnections.
Oh my. I bought this game for PS3 and Xbox. I thought the game was going to be awesome. There are many problems. Yes it can be difficult to identify enemies. If I play I only play on Hardcore because the other modes are messed up. It takes so many shots to kill someone it's insane. You can't even compare it to Far Cry 2. It was way easier to kill people on that one. Far Cry 2 is way more fun too.

It's probably the worst shooter/game i played on the ps3. i'm pretty sure the graphics are made for ps2. besides graphics its still a bad game. enemies look like teammates, guns suk, controls suk no matter setting. graphics = 4/10, gameplay = 5.5/10, buyability = never/10. my deepest sympathies to those who already bought.

Hey everyone yeah i just thought as a NON-BIAS opinion- my bros got OFDR.. i think as a spectatuer (i havn't actually bothered to play it) it is alright to a point. team AI is average specially medic, open ground everywhere, rifles have shitty scopes, scenary (background) view mountains, trees etc.. is great but not really good graphics for close ups, some missions take an actual day to complete (after many deaths)

This games is awesome on pc, couldn't speak for the consoles. I have an awesome computer that runs the game on high detail at 60 frames constant, even during large battles.
Games like OFP and Arma are not for the feint of heart, that is why a lot of die hard CoD Fans will not like it. They think Hard Core is realistic, but in ArmA and OFP, when you take a round to the leg, you lose the ability to use the leg, prolonged damage will cause you to lose the ability to steady your weapon, and you will eventually bleed out without a medic near by, there is absolutely no hud, It is not a game for someone who is new to gaming
I grabbed it on release. And I tell you what, this game's so complex, I had to buy a Strategy Guide just to figure out how to make full use of the game's features and how to use half the orders properly such as Formation.
But when Codemasters said "How real do you want it to be?", they certainly got it close. This game's complicated, but it really is feature packed and far from a typical shooter. You want a game that simulates real life or one that challenges your? This is one for you.
I do hate how you can't save exactly where you save your game, because getting it right takes a long time, and I reverted to about half an ingame day by mistake (FAIL).
Still, I've gotten the hang of the orders and other features. Now I just have to test my initiative.

It certainly is. The amount of features is mind-boggling alone.
This is the first game I've ever had to buy a Strategy Guide just to fully understands the game's features and command system & quick command combinations (Infact, my town was running out of them. I'm far from surprised).
But this game is so in depth in every feature it contains, giving you such varied choice. And that's what I really like about the game.
it took me foreverrrr to get to the 3rd level, and by that time i was doing coop with a friend and i had figured out what i was doing--- then i had to take it back to blockbuster. >: ( really fun game tho. Multiplayer is intense....

This game was a major let down for me when I got it. I was so excited to get behind the wheel of a vehicle and raise hell but all you drove was a humvee and an apc and maybe one or two others but this game totally sucked. They said in the description about getting a piloting lesson. BULL SHIT! There was nothing that invloved flying unless you stole a chopper at the end. The AI on your team were dumb asses and the enemies were way to smart. This game should get like a 4 instead of a 7...

I hate the more cinematic gamplay of todays games but if you ask me this type of gameplay would be great if they had dramatic music like modern warfare and real locations. with the horrors of real combat that involve civilian casualties like our marines are actually experiencing. like Iraq where they are using children as spotters b/c they know it looks bad for us if we fire on them. thy got the combat down. they need put int those tough decisions our fighting forces are forced to deal with too

This game isn't no call of duty trash, where you can run-and-gun, get shot, flash red for a couple seconds, then feel better again. Also, you can't just get like 10 meters from the guy and not die. One shot equals death in this game, just like in real life. Also, if you get shot in the leg, sure you can patch it up, but you won't be able to sprint anymore. In real life, you can't be dropped right into the fire fight, you've got to run there. So this is for those military enthusiasts

Not a fan of CODMW2 here...But this game right here...Its just better than sleeping pills...Its better than reading a book. Its way better than counting sheep too. If you are having trouble sleeping, go ahead and make the purchase. You will thoroughly enjoy the multiplayer most of all. Its a real intense virtual jogging game. Just run out into the open and get killed. You'll spend 5 minutes a piece just jogging back into the firefight. If thats not enough to put you to sleep, see a doctor.

Yeah, there's 7 free missions all in unlockable codes.
I would write them all down, but you can find them pretty easilly.
they're short missions with a very low success rate, for the pros who have an intimate knowledge of fighting and coming out on top in this game.
I am happy to be of use to anyone who didn't already know that.

I used to rock BF1943, i loved playing that in it's prime.
I definatly will check out Bad company 2, but i don't see it giving me anything that flashpoint can't.
For a military junky/gun freak, Flashpoint is what we've been dreaming for since the release of Cod4.

This game is full of epicness if you know anything about how a real military engagment is like.
There's not running out in th open, firing your weapon is the result of sevral minutes of observation and planning, the optics have markers for bullet drop at 300 to 400 metres, 400 to 600 for Mk-17.
The extremly large terrain makes it possible for perfuse use of co-ordinated tactics between you and your fire team, (whom you can controll individually or all at once)

Review Without game: i had OF:cold war crisis and from what ive heard this game lives up to the name.
Downside: you are unable to make mapes like on OF:CWC but the grafics have inmproved but i think due to the map making ability ARMA is better.

Not really, this one is like real warfare. ArmA 2 for example has got a BIG ADVANTAGE over alot of its features. But has such a downwards slide in the parts where OF:DR worked on. After this game has been patched it will only go uphill.
After ALOT of hard working CM memebers have spent alot of time on a big and awsome patch this game will be better than ArmA II. But it will take time.

But i would have to say i enjoy playing FPDR much more, COD just doesn't give what I want from a FPS.
People just shun this game because they don't wanna be patient and observe, they don't wanna range there optics on a target from 300+ metres away, they just play corner defender 5000 <--(codmw2)

Listen, if you're gonna support CoD at all, support CoD4! It looks downright...weird...when you justify MW2. Sure it was a "Good" game, but CoD4 was pure, no hassle, run and gun fun! The action never stopped. In MW2? Campers! Noobtubes! And much slower gameplay. Pair that with the overpowered killstreaks and you've got yourself a Killzone 2 - Killzone 3 predicament. (The series took a huge step backwards, when it was heading the the right direction!)

Also, I shouldn't forget to mention the fact that the in-game world is immense, and that doesn't just go for the map, but the weapons, vehicles and tactics you can use just makes the game flow extremely smooth and monumentally diverse.
So you can't really blame them for having bugs with the amount of stuff they put into it. The patches will be awesome >:3

In the long run this game is just rape. Of course all you pussy whipped health regenerating guru faggots will hate it, but in all honesty once the game's bugs are patched over it will be made of pure WIN.
Co-Op is amazing as well, best played in my opinion, though even playing with the AI the game still delivers.
Loving it so far, the realism I was looking for has arrived despite the borderline retarded teammates, the game is sex in co-op.

I play as sniper and go hide some and shoot some AI. It's lame though cause the AI just stand there really and just reappear over and over. My Kill/Death is like 400 and 30 or something stupid like that. It would be even higher but I had a lot of server disconnections.

Oh my. I bought this game for PS3 and Xbox. I thought the game was going to be awesome. There are many problems. Yes it can be difficult to identify enemies. If I play I only play on Hardcore because the other modes are messed up. It takes so many shots to kill someone it's insane. You can't even compare it to Far Cry 2. It was way easier to kill people on that one. Far Cry 2 is way more fun too.

i just got done playing this at my cousins. It's probably the worst shooter/game i played on the ps3. i'm pretty sure the graphics are made for ps2. besides graphics its still a bad game. enemies look like teammates, guns suk, controls suk no matter setting. graphics = 4/10, gameplay = 5.5/10, buyability = never/10. my deepest sympathies to those who already bought.

Hey everyone yeah i just thought as a NON-BIAS opinion- my bros got OFDR.. i think as a spectatuer (i havn't actually bothered to play it) it is alright to a point. team AI is average specially medic, open ground everywhere, rifles have shitty scopes, scenary (background) view mountains, trees etc.. is great but not really good graphics for close ups, some missions take an actual day to complete (after many deaths)
Reminds me exactly of Farcry2 'everythings' the same. i advise for PROFFESIONALS

man i was dissapointed by this game. Bad graphics i can stand. But it has some of the most frustrating squad a.i i've ever encountered. Your team mates are slow to react to orders. I haven't experienced any bugs yet, but the issues with squad ai pisses me off. I hope they'll do something about it in a future patch. Atm don't buy this game wait until patches are released to fix these issues!

Games like OFP and Arma are not for the feint of heart, that is why a lot of die hard CoD Fans will not like it. They think Hard Core is realistic, but in ArmA and OFP, when you take a round to the leg, you lose the ability to use the leg, prolonged damage will cause you to lose the ability to steady your weapon, and you will eventually bleed out without a medic near by, there is absolutely no hud, It is not a game for someone who is new to gaming

I grabbed it on release. And I tell you what, this game's so complex, I had to buy a Strategy Guide just to figure out how to make full use of the game's features and how to use half the orders properly such as Formation.
But when Codemasters said "How real do you want it to be?", they certainly got it close. This game's complicated, but it really is feature packed and far from a typical shooter. You want a game that simulates real life or one that challenges your? This is one for you.

It's my first time using a Military Simulation.
I do hate how you can't save exactly where you save your game, because getting it right takes a long time, and I reverted to about half an ingame day by mistake (FAIL).
Still, I've gotten the hang of the orders and other features. Now I just have to test my initiative.

It certainly is. The amount of features is mind-boggling alone.
This is the first game I've ever had to buy a Strategy Guide just to fully understands the game's features and command system & quick command combinations (Infact, my town was running out of them. I'm far from surprised).
But this game is so in depth in every feature it contains, giving you such varied choice. And that's what I really like about the game.

This game was a major let down for me when I got it. I was so excited to get behind the wheel of a vehicle and raise hell but all you drove was a humvee and an apc and maybe one or two others but this game totally sucked. They said in the description about getting a piloting lesson. BULL SHIT! There was nothing that invloved flying unless you stole a chopper at the end. The AI on your team were dumb asses and the enemies were way to smart. This game should get like a 4 instead of a 7...
