  • WELL IM GLAD I WONT COME HOME TO A CHEWED UP COUCH CAUSE MY PUP WONT LET ME LEAVE WITHOUT HER!!

  • Easier said than done! Somehow my 8 mos. old Lab. mix has a taste for the finer things in life. For instance, he chose to chew on my $200 shoes instead of going for my old garden shoes that happen to be laying right next to the others. He also managed to chew my car's furniture, including pulling the panel of my SUV back gate and chewing all the electrical wiring, including the power-lock device for the gate. At times I felt like simply euthanizing the damn thing. Kidding of course! Aghh...!

  • when i threw the book it broke two legs

  • looks like you need to train your dog not to eat scratch the door.

  • I tried everything. My pup still chew so I got a muzzle and he still shredds everything. The muzzle looks tight but it fits well. He is just stubborn. He favors diapers and will find one in the trash and so I put hot sauce on it and it did not faze him one bit.

  • i all most exploded when i saw my dog chew up all the toilet paper so i ended up grounding him inside his cage.

  • thanks very much!

  • Lol see the only problem for me is though, is that I don't want to teach my puppy that when he stops chewing an object that he "shouldn't be chewing" that I will quickly or "even" a minute later give him something good, he begins to think that when he does something wrong, he will in time eventually have my attention to give him a toy (or treat while playing) that he does like and so on. Then again, he's a Border Collie. Now, I just ignore him, and he'll completely "halt" what he's doing.

  • I dont think you should ever throw anything at a puppy.. why would you use fear - if you are right there watching it chew something.. take it away and be stern. Never throw anything at it or scare it. That just does not make sense at all.

  • I missed most of this video-reading the comments - they are making me laugh!! omg. I hope my dog turns out ok.. hahahahha oh dear.

  • Uhh I wouldn't necessarily recommend throwing a book across the room, try something lighter than that. A pen or small notepad is a lot safer for your environment and your puppy.

  • if he is chewing on something.............get the newspapers out and hit him in the ass!

  • oriental rug trim is deliciousssssss

  • This was an easy step. Everyday we would give my dog a bone and take him outside, and he was used to the bone, and never chewed on any household items. My dog died 2 years ago, and just this week I found the squeak toy he used to play with buried in a ditch.

  • and you know she knows what she's talking about when you see the scratches on the door behind her...

  • How about throw a book across the room to land on the puppy?

  • damn! i got bored quick lol

  • or u can just teach ur puppy not to chew anything but his toys.... by not saying sternly NO when he's chewing on something he shouldnt its just confussing him cuz instead ur giving him a toy which in his mind is rewarding his bad behavior....

  • anypne else notice the door on the right is clawed to hell cause the dog wanted to leave:P lolol

  • Do you have any tips on how to stop or teach puppies not to bite eachother? What do you think about spraying that biting returant on the puppies? Is it safe.

  • if you press five really fast a lot of times it sounds like shes saying terrets

    ;)

  • @bradlypengui I didn't even know 5 was a shortcut on youtube... ty :)

  • hi thanks for makeing this video i just watched it because my dog had just chewed my stuff animal so i looked up how to train your dog not to chew and this helped alot i would always say no and thats it but now i know i have to be ready and always watch him and make sure he has chew toys or bones thanks:)

  • Oriental rug fringe makes an excellent garnish.. MmmhMmhhh!

  • My dog jumps on the counter, gets what he wants then when you see what he did you try to take what he got out of his mouth but his jaw is really strong and he does not let go. Whatever you do to get it out of his mouth it does not work and he will just growl and bite. Please help!

  • @1Beatlesfreak1 I dont know about getting it out of his mouth, but my trainer said to put sticky tape (with the sticky part up) on the edges of ur counters to help train him not to jump up

  • "Its your fault for not isolating your puppy" -__- ?

I dont want to lock my dog up everytime i leave the house .

  • @SndMTv I do.

  • Puppies are cute.

  • "When he drops it"

Drops it !? My dog would run with whatever it is in his mouth and hide.

  • Please help- my two year old yellow lab jumps on counters as much as she breathes. EVERYTHING like coupons, newspapers, food, remotes, everything she gets and chews on. After we try to get it back, he just runs away and it takes forever to get it back

  • Shit don't work. Eventually the little bastard becomes immune to your yelling

  • This didn't help me for shit!!!

  • well this does not help

  • This does not fucking help

  • are eletrical cord delicious for puppies???because my danm dog ate my tv cord my girlfriends hair iron and my fan for my room and its 100 degrees here and hotter than a mottha F*cka

  • @AndrewJThomas97 and so is tabasco sauce...i put it on a cord and the dame puppy ate the cord with help from the mother. i feel your pain :P

  • Dude, can you show us how to teach a dog how to stop chewing on it's own poop?

Especially in the winter when they're like "poopsicles"

    Yeah, thats right...

  • @YeahThatsRightDude lol. poopsicles! thats kinda gross though haha

  • Uhmmm....looks like your door was chewed up.....

  • why doesnt she reply on any comment..?

  • because she is from expertvillagedotcom, not youtube

  • Okay, this video explains what to do when the puppy is already chewing on something...how do you prevent it from starting in the first place??

  • starrting in the first place...Dont get one.lol, all puppies will chew for a cpl weeks. its normal for them to chew

  • @Z2D3 you could isolate the puppy or on the market there is a chewing repellent that makes it taste bad. i used the repellent. works wonders. idk were to get it tho

  • haha, right!

  • Pinkjelly my dog does that too Biting if I touch his neck). But now when he sits and I say "Good" and reward him, I also pet the top of his head and he likes that.

  • where are you from?

  • My golden retriever is already a year, and I STILL can't teach him not to eat the towels. Yes I said EAT. He has chewed on them, sheets, blankets, my eyeglasses, important papers, including my students' homework and my bills, manuals, receipts, etc. I have to hide ALL!

  • I have a puppy and he bites or chews all the time. I tthink perhaps this is due to "teething" which the dog teeth is growing. Any thoughts?

  • Yeah, my neighbor had a puppy (who is older now) and he went through a teething stage but got over it quickly. Whenever he bites or chews on something, take whatever he has in his mouth and give him his toy or bone instead. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks for the tip!

I greatly appreciate it. I'll try it.

You know what gets me? I've bought the dog many different types of toys, and still he chews on other things other than the toys? he does chew on the toys, but it seems he prefers the "other" stuff O.O

  • @bobbisax mine does that too. what u can to is while ur there, prevent it by buying ALOT of toys and isolate him/her in a room that u r in at that time other than the bathroom. while ur asleep isolate or crate him/her. if ur at the store or something get the kind of toys that u can put treats inside. it takes hours to get it out.or rub peanut butter over a toy OR u can hide treats in obvious places to it hunts them down. thats what worked for me! tell me if it works :)

  • @btbrandomproductions that is rite but thats what that girl said lol :)

  • my dog chews on everything he can get his mouth on to!!! ive lost probably close to $1000 worth of property because of him!

  • My dog EATS my carpet! What I do about that?

  • Mine too!!!! I have idea how to stop it either

  • Looks like you need to teach the dog to not claw the door....what is with that clawed up door behind you?

  • haha, that is funny

  • Awesome videos! We are picking up our first puppy in 4 weeks, a cute little corgi, so we're trying to prepare!

  • i have a 7 year old bitch saff who still chews things when left unattended. any ideas?

  • i have a dog named mango, he loves to bite my hand whenever i try to touch around his neck, it seems like he doesn't like to be touch, what should i do?

  • i have a dog name pepsi an his a chawawa he chews on ever thing he shews on some of or shoes im glad i leard this video

  • I got a yellow 11 week old Lab, and she chews and bites and is hyper. I don't mind but she bites me mostly not any furniture really. How do I stop this? She has made me bleed five times already. I got all kinds of little cuts on my hand. PLEASE HELP! What can I do?

  • well, first, try to play very calm games with her. not rough housing. and when you are with her, as soon as she mouths you, jump up and yelp very loud so she gets startled. then (if you want) u can give her one more chance, bend down again, and as soon as nips, yelp again and stand up, then just say something firmly, like bad dog! make sure she always has chew toys like nyla bones. also, be calm even if she bites. not angry, cause dogs can feel your energy and it excites them when u get worked

  • up or angry. so always be thinking "be calm, calm, not angry".

also, if she is being mouthy, but not really biting, just take your hands away and give her a chew bone. now if she really nips hard and it seems more than puppy play, you can yelp again, but this time grab her muzzle (not painfuly) and loudly say NO and walk away, but that is up to you completely. anyways, just play clam, let her have plenty of chew, and teach her that biting means u dont play.

    have fun with your pup!!

  • also make sure she has enough exercise. labs need a lot of exercise, once a day, a walk/run/bicycle ride (along your side). if she is using up her energy exercising she'll be a lot less likely to bite you.

  • Well i need to tell u something All puppies Chew EVERYTHING.Sometimes just Keep Making mean voice like HMMMM Lol.then just keep doing it everytime he chew stuff Or u can just wait until his all grown up he wont chew stuff

  • my dog is all grown up shes a year and a half and she chews on anything she gets her paws on oh and she's a jack russell got any advice?

  • Try To make a Voice that Will Scare her,Not really Scare Like a mean voice to make the Dog stop,I did it with my Golden Retriever Works all the time.Expect when hes Eating things.....

  • puppys are suppost too chew they are teething!!!!

  • yes, they're supposed to chew a bone, not the sofa. that's the idea.

  • i'm getting a female puppy soon. i need name ideas for her. she is brown and white and medium sized. i am looking for names that start with "B". our ideas so far: Brandi, Bobbie, Blitz, Bliss, Bella. PLEASE HELP!!! thank you

  • How about "Bucco"?

    You could say "Sit, BUCCO."

On second thought, that might be a better name for a boy. :-)

  • You could name her Izabella and call her; Izabella, Izzy, or Bella. That way you get three names in one including a name with a B. I was going to name my dog that or Sophie maybe Remy but I named her Zoe, so taken lol.

  • THANKS. oddly enough, remy (or remi) is a name that i have been really trying to talk my dad into. i have kinda given up on finding the perfect b name. so now i like auggie, remi, dash, bella (still) :) but four weeks left to choose. and i am going to see her in a week, so maybe that will help. thanks again!!!

  • Which training exercise, if carried out, would have prevented what happened to the door at the right side of the screen?

  • Very good information. Before a person buys a puppy, Just see all these training tips on youtube! they are extremely useful!

  • i would chew her! My method for dogs: leave some low powered exposed wires out and if your dogs chews it, he'll never chew again. My mom let her gerbils run around in the kitchen and one day I heard a short buzz followed by a squeak. Two weeks later, we smelled rotting flesh so I moved the fridge and the bitch had his teeth in the wire and was melted to the coils. PWNAGE

  • WTF is your problem you complete asshole

  • hey dude, that's not cool man. what's your mom doing with gerbils, hmmmmm??????

  • exellent tips. thank you

  • my dog doesnt eat his own poop, but he eats the cats poop and litter

    :(

  • my puppy is a lunatic, nightmare, she eats her poop... she poops and turns around and starts eating it...Does your dog eat poop????? :{

  • yea and he seems to really respond to it and it helps you from getting frustrated by having to always repeat yourself. my puppy is 4 months and is a chipoo( a chiuawa and poodle mix)

  • ok after i yell at my puppy or get his attention to something else,...he goes back to chewing other things. aaaggghhh!!!! help me!!! its like one thing after another. u get him to stop for 5 mins n the next min hes working on another object

  • yeah my puppy is the same way. i recently started sign language with him you can google it just type in dog training signals. it seems to work well. good luck :]

  • wow sign language? how old is ur puppy? n what kind?

  • That's cool. I hate giving em treats every time they do something good. It's too controlling sometimes, but fat dogs are cute. I'm trying to fatten my cat. Any hints?

  • i'm hungry!

  • Throwing a book is most definitely not a good idea...what r u thinking? That could very well hit the dog and doesn't fly with me. But u have some really great videos with intelligent advise. keep it up.

  • search "KONAS CHIPS" if you love dogs

  • I have a weinreimer puppy, who is very naughty :]

this video has certainly helped with the biting

  • How to teach your dog not to run off on walks

  • Wow! dude... dolmatians are expensive! they are smart too. but I don't think expertvillage is going to reply to you unless u send her a message.

  • smaart!

    ;]

    nvr though of that!

  • i tried the penny thing he began to think it was a toy lol.. goos luck with training:]

  • Good video, helps. Cute dog

  • For example: the dog is chewing on one of your sneakers, clap you hands loud and say STOP! and point away and say OUT! 9 times out of 10 the dog will comply. but don't be all nice and playful with them right after that. wait about 5 minutes. The key to dog training is dominance. You have to show your dog that you are the boss and thy have to obey you.

  • The key to dog training is training, not dominance. People do more damage to their relationships with their dogs by trying to prove they are 'the boss'. People control all the resources their dogs need. They don't need to prove anything, they just to teach our dog what they need to do in order to get what they want. Studies have shown that dogs do not have a rigid hierarchy when it comes to relationships. Sure you can intimidate, bully and scare a dog into doing what you want, but why?

  • Uh...no.

  • good on you

  • what I found helpful I chew stop spray. It is a bitter tasting spray that you can spray on pretty much anything you don't want them to chew on. Even your toes. I worked really good on my puppy. Another way is to be loud and firm with the puppy. Dogs are dominant by nature and they need to know that you re the boss.

  • my dog did that things to when he whas 8week old

just ignore him and if he stop talk to him and say good things and that stuff

  • err 7 week old

  • im having problems with my 7 year old border collies when i try to train them all they do is climb up my shirt and lick my ears or bite them, nose, face, etc. how do i train 2 border collies bother/sister with these videos can anyone help me? oh yea even if there is another dog to keep them company they still whine for minutes, up to an hour when i just have to go somewhere i need to be and i cant take them with me because they just climb up me can some one please help me train my border collies

  • What I heard If puppys/ Dogs chew on clothes Sprinkle pepper Around your clothes to keep them away from it. Or a strong smelling scent. ( Idk if it works I haven`t tried)

  • just made an accurate observation and helpful suggestion................ (you guessed wrong............no 'balls' to chew here) Why on earth, one chooses to be foul-mouthed, I don't know. Lack of vocabulary I guess. Thanks anyway for the advice regarding teaching a pup not to mouth every one. Hopefully my pup will just pass through the stage and learn to chew appropriately with guidance.

  • Wow, door behind you is very scratched up! Maybe that should be your next lesson in prevention. Maybe a sheet of plexiglass installed under the door knob. :o0

  • Smart ass.

  • maybe you need your balls chewed

  • my puppy bites at our pant cuffs when we walk, how do we get him to stop

  • my puppy chews on my toes / fingers, any way to get him to stop doing that ?

  • Good idea. Now I can make my puppy stop chewing on the candles I have on the table. xD Eew.

  • buddyboy44 just shut your mouth!

  • thank thats awesome you've been a great help

  • what is the chewing detergent thingy because my mum is moaning and if i don't stop my puppy chewing she is probably gonna sell her =(

  • This is really old, but they sell it in pet stores. It's like a bitter spray that tastes horrible. It doesn't always work though. You're better off training and isolating the puppy when you're not around. Crates are your friend.
