Crowley defined 'magick' as bringing about any physical change by exercising the will. To turn blocks of wood into these beautiful instruments would surely qualify as magic and the guys who do it as supreme magicians. If I had my time over again I would choose to be a luthier - the satisfaction of working with wood in any context is enormous but to turn a tree into a top quality guitar must surely be the greatest satisfaction on earth.
