  • Although i like the soarers, they are very slow :(

  • @TheZHLANE Yeah they are just too heavy and under powered.

  • @JZZ31 ur right. they are so slow. i mean take my prius it can whoop any soarer. i hate underpowered cars like soarer, ferrari and supra, lamborhini. time to bring back the powerful volkswagen beatle and citron 2cv. hells yeah that's some two cylinders of high octane lovemaking

  • wow, watch out for this comedian!

  • Hey man! Great video! I was just wondering, I am planning on buying the same car (4.0L V8, automatic 1993 Toyota Soarer) for $3,000, but the suspension in it is shot. Do you know how much it would cost to replace it? I really love this car :D

  • @AidenTimmins Hey mate, yeah I fixed one of mine with a set of used good UZZ30/JZZ31/JZZ30/JZA80 shocks and springs, $150 for the set. so pretty cheap, just took a few hours to swap them all over. Good luck!

  • @JZZ31 Thanks! I'll be driving a soarer very, VERY soon! :D

  • Thank you i will for sure check those out.

  • hey i cant figure out whats wrong with my car it starts up then about 5-10 sec later it dies and wont start after that for a bit do you have any idea?? its a 1991 toyota soarer twin turbo

  • @derekcobb100 Hi there, sorry to hear your troubles, probably ECU related, check the capacitors they may need replacing as most of them deteriorate over time. The fuel ECU in the back could also be faulty. Another thing to check is the idle control unit is clean and functioning correctly (test with multimeter - a workshop manual is needed) another thing could be the fuel filter being blocked. Really just a process of elimination but Id say the main ECU is the problem -

  • I am looking at buying a soarer twin turbo. It is real quick and sounds good. Do they have common issues?

  • @JamesDerek19 AH yes very good. They go well, I need to get a 1JZGTE powered car one day, the VVTi single turbo version would be the pick of the bunch, 380nm @ 2400rpm stock! Common issues... yeah the dashes can flicker, the fuel control ecus can go, the capacitors in the ECU can go, usual suspension faults, the TTs usually have less electronics over higher end V8s though. Probably the condition of the turbos is something to look into, ie does it blow any smoke?

  • with the v8 models part of it's quickness depends on the model you get. the base model v8 the uzz30 does 15.3 in the 1/4 mile standard. the uzz32 with active suspension does 16.3 in the 1/4 mile standard. the difference being the top of the range models were very very heavy. 1590kg vs 1730kg.

  • my sc400 runs 0 to 100 in 8sec is that correct?or needs tuning coz in the web it says 0-100 in 6.5sec stock.

  • Yes, yours is under performing. Should be more around 7.

  • did you change the airfillter box to podfillter? coz my mechanic said its a bad idea more heat less power.he said change the fillter in the box to K&N fillter n exhaust system n it should gain a few more HP.

  • @Nahom79 No I didn't pod filters are rubbish, just made the stock airbox intake larger.

  • WTF are you on about you tool?

  • Lexus/Toyota badge

I have a Lexus SC400 from only two in my country (Argentina)

When I say is a Lexus people reacts way to different than if I say Toyota.

Toyota put the best and only the best on Lexus lineup to keep up with premium cars in USA. No small/little cars. There´s no Lexus badged Corollas, Tercels, Yaris...

Premium badge make the difference in America.

Japan has no problem with Nissans, Toyotas, Subarus...so no re-badges (Infinit, Acura, Lexus) or problems (like Subaru) there.

  • where can i get one!!!! ive been lookin all over online and i cant find me... iam getting a 98sc300 and i want one really bad please hit me back up! thanks

  • That last post was a response to donutking33, however it seems to have chosen to do it's own thing.

  • Digital dashboard? Which models had that? Looks too fancy to be an aftermarket piece.

  • Stock Japanese dash. American ones had analogue dials

  • lol did they...sucks for them!

  • i was thinking of getting an sc400 but never drove one. Hows the performance.. i kind of notice that from a dig.. doesnt really get off.. but once it gets up a few.. it keeps going. A top end monster ^^

  • Yeah, the auto is a little lagy down low, a high stall torque converter, shift kit, lsd and better wider tyres would improve low end acceleration. Plus then theres the ecu and all that performance wise. Still Its pretty quick too 100 with the stock gear after i did exhaust and intake mid 6's!

  • i hava a 95 sc-400 it is pretty tight... i love it man!

eventhough it still has its stock 4.0L V8 it does the job for me...

  • VV

Last reply in quote to kgbasio for some reason i selected quote yet it posted a completely new comment =S

  • Actually, if you have a look into the Lexus/Soarers... Soarer was produced with more features as a toyota. Lexus means Luxury Export US.

Please, find for me the following.

A genuine Lexus SC300/400 with TV, Active Suspension, TEMS, Digital Dash.

Why do these not exist? Because they were only produced on the TOYOTA Japanese release, to which there is no lexus equivalent.

  • I can show you that r in my street you dick, 1 of them is owned by me!!

  • Then it's a Toyota Soarer, not a Lexus. The digital dash is a japanese release only.

Badges mean nothing, hell put some BMW ones on it, make it german made? lol fail

They're the same car, built on the jza80 supra chassie. But my point is still valid. Although you may think you have a Lexus, if it's digital dash, it is japanese, and thus has to be Toyota.

If you're the very first owner of the car, and brought it from a lexus dealer, then maybe I'll take your word for it.

  • how many Km you got on the car? I am sure its a lot but the 1UZ can handle it.

  • it would have had around 134kms then from memory.

  • This is just badged as a Soarer, I only titled it SC400 for the video as they are mechanically the same. This has nothing to do with what market it came from, both will still perform just as well.

  • i have a sc400 and my speedometer isnt digital like that, do some of them come with that digital speedometer?

  • Hi there, Yeah, Yours would be a Genuine American spec Lexus SC400 in left hand drive, This is a Japanese Toyota Soarer which was only sold in Japan with a Digital Dash in Right Hand Drive - Generally alot of people re-badge there Soarers as a Lexus SC400 so I included it in the search as the are pretty much identical mechanically and visually. Hope that answers your question! Cheers Mike

  • The question is, why would you re-badge your Soarer with Lexus badges when the Soarers are actually a higher grade of car... For every lexus there is a soarer equivilant, but not the other way around... Like re-badging a porche with ford badges :S

For example, Soarers being available with an EMV (computer in dash)...

  • The Question is, who gives a fuck have a cry, there the same car anyway so go lick some toads.

  • your a fucking idiot do your research before you make a comment

Lexus is owned by Toyota and is operated simply to produce upper class vehicles to compete with BMW Mercedes and what not

So why would you debadge your Soarer and stick some L badges on it?

some think it looks classier and thats a matter of taste but personally im happy enough with my gold front and rear Toyota badges no shame in that at all aye

  • That thing got up there quick, i cant wait to drive mine!

  • Sounds great, just like mine, but I've fitted extractors, larger exhaust and twin Lukey sports mufflers. Gets 178kW at the back wheels with a Unichip piggy back computor.

  • That exhaust note definatley does not sound stock.

  • Its completely stock, however the intake top cover was open to let some air in and give it a better louder sound. Exhaust is stock, thats just the motor your hearing.

  • Great car. Looks a bit old on the outside though. I hear SC400 are cheaper to service because it's the same engine as in the LS400

  • Works out to be about 6.9 seconds to 100km/h. Thats excellent considering thats what its claimed to do from factory so just shows how after 15 years its still making good power.
