i really wanted to like this game. played it for 4 hours straight with a friend on co-op. it just felt dated and empty. it was fun mashing zombies at times but i really feel like im missing something with it. does it get real good later on?

I wish they would have played off of the trailer and you play as the dad and you wake up in the hotel room and you wife is dead and you killed your child. Also it would be better as a third person game because when you first start playing its almost impossible to tell how far the zombies are from your paddle.

Deus Ex is more repetitive than this game, I like both but this is way more open world, once you unlock all the island as long as you don't go to the prison you can go an do what you want like fallout 3, best Zombie game, would have been even better if there were multiple ways to escape the island, extend the sea so you can go further out, just take out the stupid out of game area and lastly a day and night cycle, maybe as a dlc coz thats what everyone wants

the reason the shooting sucks is because theyy tried to base it on the close quarter combat because it keeps the action going. they didn't want to focus on the shooting

I think a lot of flack may derive from the trailer that was shown a while back. The one with the little girl laying down lifeless on the ground. It was one of the best trailers I have ever seen for a video game, but from what I am seeing, the gameplay, it doesn't match the trailer, at all. It doesn't seem like a strong character driven story. So, essentially it comes off as false advertisement, IMO. Glad you guys enjoyed the game.  I will have to rent it in the future. Nice review.

@ROBOJEBUS987 Well simple. I didn't compare it to Left4Dead, Jay did. And finding the people who gave the quests was not our problem. It was following the clunky navigation system that lead to some of the objectives in the quests. I have played a lot of games in my day and the navigation system in Dead Island is terrible in my opinion. As for story, I felt it was very generic. Hope this helps.
