She was cast in this movie for a lot of reasons... not the least of which being that she'd had a huge string of commercial pop hits (beautifully produced, beautifully performed, by the way)... I do believe, however, that her performance in this film, on every level, is her artistic apex.

O'Toole is great here, and has been this good, before and after...
