I love this trio, but there are only a few pianists who can do justice to monk tunes and Mehldau is not one. His band also doesn't have the right kind of rhythmic approach for it.

@hurting this is silly... who says you have to play monk tunes in a 'monk' kind of way? sure they don't approach it with a similar rhythmic feeling but, if they did, what would the point be? they'd never do it as well as monk, so I'd rather hear them do it their own way.
