How do you know if a certain form of Kung Fu cames from the north or south? are there certain quirks about southern styles that northern ones dont have? and vice versa? what about the forms that are based from the animals like the snake, crane, tiger and so on? are they genrealized forms or do they come from a certain area of china?
@Vadion12 Typically the main differences between the Northern and Southern styles are Southern styles have a tendency to concentrate on mainly "hand boxing techniques" with less emphasis on long low stance work." most" southern systems do not teach grappling , but rather dislodges and strikes . Northern systems encompass all this and more. Including strategic grappling, weapons and a myriad of kicks ,the main obvious difference is Northern systems have long ,large movements in the training.
