This is one of your inaccuracies. Akeem would be close to 20 when his Dad died. For someone who started his primary school in 1966, me think he would be older than 12 in 1980. I am patiently waiting for Onikoloboegba to respond to my posers. I hope he does not chicken out as I have more in stock for him. Whoever knows him should tell him to surface. He can run but he cannot hide. I am waiting.

Also, what is the most popular inscription on the first one? Awaiting your reply before I unleash further posers.
Ayinla Omowura with his exceptional singing voice coupled with the talent of his lead drummer, a huge voice behind Apala music from Egba Land. Another great musician from Africa.
I was opportuned to see this man live & direct once when he came t o perform in Kaduna, & by the nature of my proffession while iwas still in Nigeria, i also have the priviledge to mingle with late Dauda omowura his junior brother, Ayinla is no doubt a legend.
@oxossiguerreirO He sings about Orishas sometimes, especially the Orisha called "Ogun" which represents Iron. If you worship Ogun, you will not die or be hurt by any metal or Iron object like gun bullets and knives..Some people said that was why he was killed by somebody smashing a bottle on his head, because they knew he would not die if he was shot or knifed...Hmmm
No you are not correct. Ayinla's life was rough. He was a strong man. He knew he will die but how the death will come was his problem. He did everything he could to evade death but where he least expected to be killed, the person he least expected to harm him (his manager who knew all his secret) killed him. Only Bayewu knew nobody should hit Ayinla on head with anything. He hit Ayinla with jug on head and that was it.
When Ayinla became Egunmogaji, boys in Abeokuta started to refer to themselves by that name.It would be an error to make a fuss over Ayinla.Abeokuta is for Oluomo people, every house has a hero.If you are a / the hero of your house you are only entitled to people remembering you in their hearts. What of Fela, lawyers, judges, doctors etc from Abeokuta. As Awolowo once said in Abeokuta you have or the greatest collection of black people come from there.
@yormeey me too i feel like turning the hand of time back and watch this man live performance, though my dad always watch his live play and he tell me so much about this icon. anyway all special thanks goes to you and egbaalake.
You mighrt be able to help Yormey.I believe that on that day some people and Ayinla came from Sango in a convoy. But did you see Ayinla smoke even cigarette or he was just smoking 'Erinmoore' (code) on the day.I guess you were a teenager by then.
@onikoloboegba LOL.yes u are right.still very much a kid then.Omowura's first daughter,KUBURAT,was my class mate in primary school that was located within Ake Palace. She was smart and she looks so much like her dad.
Omowura would walk to attend PTA meeting of his daughter back then from Itoko via Ikopa. He was a complete gentle man and a loving father.Akeem Omowura, his son, loved to play soccer "set" in St.Peter primary school,Ake.We were all connected somehow, growing up.
Could you please give us a brief description of this party... with emphasis on what Ayinla's act was like. Was he sitting or standing while singing? Did he play any instrument. etc.etc. I beg you to please respond to this thread as soon as possible. Thanks
@KLFD29743 .This was a dusk to dawn party, and Omowura and his band would always be on their sits entertaining the crowd all night.Apala and sakara musicians usually sit while the juju and fuji bands perform while standing, most of the time.
You really want to know about Orisha go to Ijebu-Ode,Ife is good as well.Abeokuta too conservative or Sango. The master singer Ayinla was born into traditional medicine but he went further by learning more and looking for definite knowledge about them.Quality man.I am not aware of any Yoruba musician today who has gone to look for more knowledge about traditional religion.
Is the guy into music too? What happened to the elder brother, Akeem, who was singing after the dad's death? What of Dauda (Ayinla's younger brother)? Ayinla remains a hit even in death. I believe there are 1 or 2 movie makers who will like to make a film of Omowura's life. I for one will like to watch such a film and possibly sponsor it if I were a marketer. Tell your pal (Ayinla's child) to explore this. If he is interested I can link him to guys in the Yoruba movie sector.
Ayinla lived in a male dominated environment. He spent so little time with his kids.He was torn in between his women and all the places that he had to go.His kids would have very little info about him.Where he went who he saw etc all these were not revealed to even Dauda. His driver may help but most of the time he just sat in the car or had to drop Ayinla and told to come to the same stop at a given time.Try Mushin,Abo-iba where 2 Ayinlas livedand his favourite enjoyment area.
@onikoloboegba He could not have been so elusive that there would be no accounts of his life to make a movie of. Definitely there will be people who will know about his background, rise to stardom, his travails, spots where he liked to hang around etc to make a movie out of.

Dis is gud, it make me remember the time we were young at Aba-Opa Ojoo, Ibadan, when one baba called (Baba Nla) used to play the song and dance to it, but we used to make jest of the man then, but when i grow when i listen to it, i can understand is a true song. Thank you Yommy, Orun re Ayinla Omowura
