You use the technique, grip, sensibility that bests suits what you are playing. Since there is no demonstrated music, it is in essence a free solo.
If a drummer is playing in a live setting, he or she should be able to play a suitable range of temps and dynamics. There is no indication one way or the other of this drummers abilities, in those regards.

Promark 7A's he's using are great sticks. I use them myself in oak.
Good beginner lick but I really don't agree with his gripping..
Better incorporate mollar technique for more advanced/faster licks in the future.
