most yellow pages companies have evolved and offer a wide variety of ways to be found across the internet (including search engines). In Canada, they manage my website, search engine marketing, search engine optimization, mobile advertising and provide analytics on all of it -- including the phone calls I receive. I'm quite happy to have my Google, Yahoo, yellowpages.ca, mobile, Canada411 & print ads all with one provider.

recently I stopped using the big book and started my own website, and found it to be much better for me, and I also have a page on Google maps, this is really good.
My add is turning up on different advertising sites, and I never choose to pay a penny for those adverts. If they wish to put my details on their site great but don't ask me to pay for it.
business' shouldn't be thinking google vs yellowpages they should be thinking about google + yellowpages. The top ways people search for business are: search engines, print directories, and online directories. An ad in the yellowpages puts you in all three. Now search engine optimize and market your own website as well and you can really maximaze your advertising dollar.
