  • YOUR SHIRT WAS ON BACKWARDS!!! Ha ha!

  • only divas have big hair. big hair = natutal, thin hair= relaxed...but I guess if your around whites you feel like you have to fit in..me I dont care im me like it or not

  • @MzKinkyness wtf?? being around whites have nothing to do with being relaxed!! that sounds quite ignorant

  • @MzKinkyness You sound like a stupid ass natural nazi. Don't come to her videos to brag about your natural hair and talk down about relaxed hair sweetie. You are ignorant.

  • Your not suppose to cut hair like that

  • @msJones821 it’s not that the hair will grow out of the scalp any faster, but trimming all the damage from your ends will prevent the damage from creeping up further into the healthy hair. You will notice the hair to be thicker, fuller and you will notice the growth because the split and damaged ends are removed giving the appearance of healthy hair form root to tip. I hope this makes a little more sense.

  • Hey, your hair is so nice! Just wanted to ask for any hair tips? I'm 13 and my hair is just past shoulder length. How do I get my hair like yours lol

  • @HelgaWasHere121 plz visit my site :) my hair is almost as lg as hers (about 2 1/2 inches shorter) and im on track to waist length. i ould really use sum more subscribers. hope this helps! thx 4 your time

  • I keep cutting my hair. It's to my shoulder's now and I still have a little bit of dead end's. The dead ends are just the rest of my relaxer hair that wasn't taken care or properly. I'm going back to relaxers tho. Should I cut them off now or after I go back to relaxers? And can pregnant girl's get relaxers while pregnant?

  • You shouldve cut more off Meg

  • I'm not trying to be mean but I think Meg is so worried about length and afraid to cut off the necessary two more inches that's needed. I mean it will grow back but it doesn't look good with the ends so thin like that. Megs will still be beautiful if her hair is a little shorter.it's about health not length.

  • I cut my hair the same exact way but more even. Then if I can't get the desired look I ask my mom for help

  • Megz hun I love you but I must agree with some of the other subscribers....cutting your in this manner does not appear to be a good method. I've never seen anyone cut their hair like this. Ask someone else for help...

  • my hair was that length 2010 and i hated it. Its not gonna be perfect. the more you want it to be perfect the less it will be perfect. I really wanna say something but i dont need people hating me. Ok, black people are most likely to have really thin ends theres not much to do about it. but cutting it all the time isnt gonna make your hair long any time soon

  • What is a failed video. I thought it was something like when someone disturbed you, or the phone rang? Do tell.

  • She didn't know what she was doing : /

  • @DeshaLynnelL - right

  • @msJones821 that is so true, i always wonder y ppl think that. when it's the growth starting from the root that makes the difference. though if u have split ends and such u wont see the results of the growth. that's the only reason why it would seem like cutting/trimming is making an impact

  • did u go to princeton when you were here in cincy?

  • Perms are the reason your hair is so thin, your hair might be naturally thin but perms make it worse.. please consider going natural. justsayin

  • @TheNeyni23 not everyone's hair is voluminous to begin with, regardless of if you're natural or processed. It all depends on how many strands per area on your head plus how coarse those strands are. I know people who are fully natural , have been for years and have thinner hair than she does. Kimmaytube did a video on it, you should check it out. (btw I'm natural and still watch her vids)

  • Beautiful hair!! Love the vids

  • why don't you let Ashley cut your hair across the back? I miss Ashley,..she could show her face every once in a while. :) or maybe even update use on her fitness and weight loss.

  • im also due for a trim too this friday :(

  • I think it needs to be cut were the words at the bottom are just to get the body....sigh I was still cringing when you were cutting so I'm fine where you stopped

  • When you cut the dead ends it makes hair thicker but it's hard doing it yourself love your videos

  • I use castor oil on my hair and it has gotten so thick

  • guys, she knows she didn't do the best job.. the video does say "failed"

  • I've found that those scissors actually caused split ends on my hair, so I switched to the tall silver shears that the hair stylists and barbers use. Don't believe me, try cutting a strand of hair that appears to be a split end and watch it go even higher. I think that's why those scissors are so cheap. I also found those darn cuticle scissors that a lot of people use, do the same thing. Honestly, the tall shears are harder to use, but are more effective.

  • @amarige25 yes this is very true, i brought hair shears and dont use it to cut anything but hair. before i would use scissors i used to cut paper and tape stuff like that lol thank God i learned in time before anything bad happened

  • @mizzstar21 well it depends on rather you are relaxed or natural. I do a light protein treatment twice a month with egg, honey and castor oil. Also be careful with the use of gel and hard brushes, moisturize and baby up your thin spots by keeping it tucked away. Please, please be careful while you detangle, this is where we tend to loose the most hair. Hope this helps, k hun

  • Thanks for sharing how you trim your hair. I think you cut to much of it off. I was really surprised how long it takes. But it does look more full after the trim. Do you think it would be easier to have a friend do it for you b/c they will have better total vision?

  • next time only cut the thin hair not the healthy hair with it

  • If your hair was flat ironed, It looks amazing .. I am getting a touch up next month I am dying to see the results of my new growth ...

  • Are you doing anything to try and make your hair thicker?? I think you should...

  • calm down , she HAS too! otherwise the dead ends will prevent hair growth .

  • @breyy2qudda once hair leaves the scalp it is considered dead, you must preserve it. Hair grows regardless....what makes it seem as if it doesn't grow is when it breaks off and you don't preserve it. The ends of the hair are the oldest therefore the weakest....learn to preserve it and you will see the growth. My youngest daughter's hair is past her butt and it's never been trimmed. I don't do anything special except be mindful and careful of how I handle the ends.

  • @nickyworth25 thanks !

  • (shouting) Meagan Nooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Princeton girl! Im jealous lol

  • Okay, can someone please inform me on what a "hair journey" is??? I just found this channel & I've been watching her vids, but I'm still lost O_O @ to Megz...my hair used to come past my shoulders, now its neck length, from stress. Any tips on healthy hair growth? Thank you!

  • @Sheyanne3991 A hair journey is basically the turning point for most women when they decide to take better care of their hair to achieve different goals. Whether it be for thickness, length etc. It's pretty much creating and maintaining a regimen for your hair that will help nurse it back to a healthy state. :)

  • Your hair is so pretty so stopp cutting it and if you do get your mom or sister to help for you want cut to much. Your hair journey is amazing and I cant wait to start mine!

  • Meagan you are the person that inspired me to get on this healthy hair journey that I am on.

When I started watching your vlogs I used a lot of your techniques and also joined Hairlista that you suggested in one of your vlogs. When I started in Oct 2010 my hair was neck line, about 2 inches from shoulder length and now after 14 1/2 months I am about an inch away from bra strap length, so I lots of progress and I just want to thank you for your lovely vlogs and keep them coming.

  • and its only 4inches long...

  • i am starting a hair journey and i think it is impossible i have the thickest hair ... ever..

  • i love the sound of the cutting

  • To all of you telling Megan how she should cut "her hair" please stop! A: this video is old B: some of you are on that YouTube courage juice, you know the kind that makes you say things you would never say to her in person.

  • STOP BRINGING YOUR HAIR TO THE FRONT TO TRIM YOUR HAIR. have someone trim your hair for you. that makes the middle of your hair shorter. I know from experience! thats why you keep having that problem area Megs. I love your videos but dont do it to your hair lol.

  • @Luvmebabi30 I agree. Maybe you could have Ashley do it.

  • @Luvmebabi30 thank you for that pointer! i was doing the same thing as she does x.x ill follow ur tip in my next trim

  • I think she's aware that she did some things wrong, she said she's not gona even call it a tutorial n she put fail in the title, but I understand why u would want to do it on ur own, my mom used to trim my ends n I'm more than sad she can't do it anymore bcuz I'm away from her now, I'm grateful that I have a great stylist to trim my ends, but not everyone has that choice, when I was in college I wouldn't let anybody touch my ends, some stylists, license or not cannot trim hair

  • Maybe you should get some four cutting scissors and then have ashley cut 2 inches straight across the back.

  • LONG HAIR DON'T CARE!!! well maybe a little..jk:) Lol If you guys have watched Megz video from a while ago when she got a trim before IN A SALON....she stated she doesn't trust any other stylist other than her cousin to trim her hair. Her cousin lives in Ohio, and Megz lives in California...which bring us to this video we are watching now......just saying:) You guys should check out Getting My Salon Trim PT2...

  • Thanks for the share. I'm not licensed or professionally tained, but i've found that parting the hair across and rather than seeking to make it even is best for getting rid of the thin parts, and promote thicker looking hair. Some of it is staying thin cause they are split so you should do more of a search and destroy. I too have fine hair but it's pretty thick i've never let it grow long but it's always been thick. I've now gone natural so i'll see how trimming goes for the coming summer

  • your hair grew since around this time last year

  • Comment removed

  • I am, in no way putting you down and it is just hair but I thought I I'd share that with you. No hard feelings keep encouraging other black women who wish to have healthy relaxed hair as you do..

  • As a licensed stylist I suggest you visit a stylist you trust to trim your ends. I'm not saying doing your own.trimming is bad. But you are missing 2 major steps thats needed for hair with your same issues. Just combing the hair straight down and cutting you may never reach those areas that need the most attention. Theres a way your hair needs to be trimmed the will retain its length and weight. If you never learn these other trimming methods you'll keep cutting away at you length.

  • Meg, love you but your ends are really dead. Why not cut straight across to remove all the thin hair?

  • @loveshopping4stuff All hair is dead its the nature of the being.

  • Comment removed

  • I think a trip to the salon would do her some good. It looks as though some ends that needed to be trimmed were missed. Maybe a good 2 to 3 inch trim would do some good for health and eveness.

  • I have the exact same problem area. How do you combat this? I appreciate any advice you can give and I LOVE your vids!

  • @talaunat i used to do a search and destroy for the unhealthy bits. Unless i was styling it I never tried to keep it even. You take it section by section and trim off only the thin frayed looking ends makes your hair seem twice as thick.

  • This was a good video. I dont know why you said it was a fail. Your hair looks so long and healthy.

  • Why didn't you get ashley to cut it for you?

  • I think you did a Great Job.

  • I think you did A Great Job!

  • I think constructive criticism is good. Sometimes others can see what u can't. That's what happens when ur exposed to the public. It's ok as long as no one is disrespectful.

  • I love ur vids. I were the first I saw in my jj. O think ur cutting wrong and making the ends maintain the uneven appearance. U should cut off 2in str8 across. U won't even miss it! Good work with ur vids! Thnx!

  • megan, u look a lot like ashley in this video. I love you both! Where she at btw? She hasn't updated her channel in forever

  • You would benefit by taking off all the damage. You really need a good 3inches cut. It would grow faster and become more healthy and fuller. I know it's hard to cut that much at one time but thats the consequences of lots of heat use. Good luck Megz and thanks for sharing!

  • @MKglamourDiva Please explain how cutting the ends makes it come out of your scalp faster? I don't understand why people believe that. Maybe I'm missing something.

  • @LadyASolveg they don't make the hair grow out of your scalp faster perse, but what will happen if you don't take care of them is they will continue to split up toward the scalp, making it harder to grow hair evenly. So you end up with more problem areas and eventually a bigger chop (in inches) is needed if you don't handle them. So in essence when you trim the split ends and get rid of that dead damaged area, your hair can grow evenly and strong, as opposed to choppy and thin.

  • @myaluv79 This I know but that's not what that person said and i've heard lots of people say cutting makes your hair grow faster. If you just keep chopping away at your hair all you'll end up with is short hair.

  • omg meggss thats a drastic trim looks like a cut too me .. myb yu should trim every 3 months instead of cuttin so much at once, that way you can still retain length.

  • hey megan have u tried cutting yur hair from the back, since thats your problem area, im just wondering b/c it looks as if yur taking healthy & unnecessary length from the front, im just wondering if you've tried it b4,plus i really love yur videos!!!!

  • Good job Meg.....Healthy hair grows!!!!

  • Thanks for continuing to post your videos Meg! They are always informative and well put together. It's obvious that you take a lot of pride in your regimens whether they be for hair, makeup, or clothing and you are soooo loyal to your subscribers. We are never left in the dark...even when you decide to take "time off" from posting! (Which is never for too long) Much love. ;o)

  • Why won't you just cut off all the hair wea the thin hair is and get rid of it?

  • I may have written this on another video before but, have you considered switching to a lye relaxer? I know for me, the calcium deposits in no lye would make my hair more fragile & prone to breakage and thinning (esp my ends which are a little past bsl) whether I chelated or not. I decided to switch to ORS lye relaxer & I have noticed a HUGE difference in the strength of my hair. Your hair looks healthy despite your thin area though, but just wanted to give you something to think about! HHJ :-)

  • Y does everyone think they know what's best for HER hair, everyone's hair is different so SHE knows what to do with HER hair, she's grown it that long so she must be doing something right!

  • all you need to do is cut your as "V" so you keep your lenght and you get ride of your thinning spot just like i did on my picture

  • Hmmmm...it appears one has to be extra careful what advice or comments they leave on this channel, because some of the subbies here are super defensive and think everything is an insult. I've had to cut off hair that did not look so great, and it always sucks at first, but I always love the results when everything is as nice and even as possible. When i was transitioning though, i cut a little at a time. Its really a bigger problem though if the ends are breaking off, otherwise you can wait/

  • honestly, your hair is beautiful the way it is...your hair in the back may just grow slower than the rest and you may never achieve the look your going for. Just embrace your hair.

  • Are you and Ashley going to make any more videos together?

  • to keep your hair looking healthy you have to trim your ends...it's just hair ppl, IT WILL GROW BACK!!! :)

  • u scared me with the scissors girl..=)

  • To all of you wondering how you get the thin spot in the middle....its from constantly splitting the hair to wear on each shoulder. Hair from the lower middle section tends to rub on clothing, etc. Been there! Problem solved :-)

  • @ang1stokes How did you get your hair stronger again? My hair around the back (middle & edges) are starting to thin & break & I was wondering how to fix this :s

  • @ang1stokes no it's from splitting the hair and cutting it in the front over the shoulder.

  • @ang1stokes Thank you for that info. I had no idea. I never thought about that as being a bad thing.

  • the hell why are you cutting your hair ? did you have split ends ?

  • You did good girl....ppl on here act like its there hair!!!! Lol you know wht works best for you. Keep doing it! .^_~.

  • You did a great job to me you cant make everybody Happy..but i would'nt take any advice from anyone on these comments ...

  • u need to cut all the way up until you see no thinning areas bc your hair is gonna continue to split and you gonna have for gaps.....

  • I cringe everytime you cut your hair. Its so beautiful :/ lol

  • I don't see why she needs to go to a salon if she can do it herself. I've NEVER let anyone else touch my hair with scissors. Never will. I actually have friends who ask me to cut their hair instead.

  • Watching this vid I'm like nooo Meg lol your hair is so lengthy & I know your trying to get the ends u desire, but next time ma plz go to a salon your familiar w/ :)

  • why are people getting defensive? all some people are trying to do is offer suggestions on how she can trim her hair. I think her hair looks great, but some of you are taking this waaay to personally.

  • I remember the first time I saw you on YouTube I was like

    "That's gotta be a weave"

Not cusa the length but just that it's so healthy! Keep it up x

  • Have you tried the Crea Clip? It's awesome for trimming your own hair. It has a built in level so you can insure a straight cut :-)

  • That's a cool tshirt ... oh and an amazing head of hair :O

  • You are doing a wonderful job on your hair. Some women go to the shop once a week and never achieve the length you have on your own.

  • Funny I trimmed my hair this morn... I have fine hair also...

  • @LilMsKissyMissy i hate having fine hair its stupiddd

  • Woooow your spot has improved so much. Thanks a lot for this video, it was so helpful. I have to do this as well so thanks so much for sharing :)

  • Thanks for that @ myaluv79. Meg I have to agree with what is being said. Pulling your hair forward to cut will not get you the results you think. Maybe Ashley can help trim from the back. Just a suggestion :)

  • Why do people get their panties in a bunch whenever someone gives her a suggestion that may help her? Yes, she is making these videos about her own personal journey, but at the same time she is a regular woman, not a stylist with formal cosmetology training, and she does this video sharing her experience and offering suggestions, so as subscribers, we too should be able to share suggestions that may work for her as well. Can it not be a two-way street? Some of you take this way too personal.

  • @myaluv79 VERY TRUE. but some peoples suggestions are just RUDE and/or STUPID.

  • Comment removed

  • @myaluv79 ikr!!

  • Love your videos. Just cut off all your problem areas.....it makes your hair look nicer.

  • I think you coulda cut off more just to get ride of the problem area but your hair is beautiful by the way!!

  • i was scared at first but you didnt do too bad.

  • i have a thin spot in the middle too, i've had it for years, still dont know whats causing it, the back of my hair looks like a shallow upside down V if that makes sense, and i refuse to believe that, thats just how my hair is lol, but i think you did a good job, especially for doing it all by yourself. maybe ashley can help you next time, two pairs of eyes are better than one, happy growing :-)

  • Have you figured out the reason for your problem area because you take very good care of your area.

  • Thank God you cut only an inch, even then I was cringing lol... Your hair grew a lot

  • People that have negative comments to say where is your hair? Where is your pic at? Megz your hair looks good and healthy. You want to talk about megz where is your videos? People that have something negative to say go kick rocks.

  • Your hair is beautiful.

  • dont focus so har on cutting straight across, if you hit a diagonal cut across your ends, where you were talking about the middle being thin.. it would naturally blend, because its just the ends, & your hair is so long.. but eventually grow in to that thickness :) i hate that too!

  • @imjuswas thats a good idea

  • you got lovely hair.. btw where is Ashley it's been a while we have seen you doing a video together..

  • How long has it taken you to grow your hair out to the length?

  • Meg no need to listen to the negative comments because most have no pic and the others have no hair.

  • @miss2umister Lmao, no pic no hair too funny!!

  • What is it with people telling Megs what to do with HER OWN HAIR!!? if this young lady wanted bangs & layers I'm sure she'd get them. Meg your hair is great & you help many. Thanks xx

  • I agree with p8anut. When u pull your hair forward like this, you can't cut it evenly because the back is going to come out shorter. I'm BSL and I dust my ends and the back has to be done separately or its going to come out shorter if you try to match it with the front.Just a tip :}

  • omgosh when I read some people's negative comments I can tell that they're not subscribed to you and really are just making irrelevant comments. Megz well done with your hair journey!!! You've come so far and when I have setbacks and feel a lil down I like watching your vids to become motivated again

  • now I know this is your journey but your hair would look so much better if you just cut off like another 2 inches. I totally get why you may not do it. I have a thin gap too and I am so hesitant to cut it but now watching your video I'm gonna go cut mine.

  • I agree wit some of the comments below...you should get your hair cut in layers or get a nice bang! I want too know wat products do you use on your hair too help it grow but stay healthy at the same time??

  • LIKE if she should get layers and bangs :)

  • Girl you make me wanna go wash and straighten my hair lol nice vid:)

  • every time i see a negative comment, I wonder what their hair looks like...

  • @miszreese I agree. It's "keyboard courage"...

  • @miszreese I know right =)

  • @NIJEECAPRICORN20 AMEN TO YOU AND @miszreese !! INSTEAD OF TAKING IT AS HELP THEY CRITICIZE!!!!!!!

  • U should get layers..but keep ur length=) u would look cute with layers

  • The middle of her hair is always shorter, LOL. U R cutting UR hair all wrong. U can bring the back of UR hair with the front of UR hair & cut it together. The back is gonna' be shorter. Thats why the middle of UR hair is all off & shorter than the rest of UR hair. Also, UR ends R extremely thin, they need to be cut off.

  • @ulovemegz I think you should cut your hair into layers again like the chop chop bang video, your hair was so pretty & full looking. :)

  • will cutting the ends help stop the hair from shedding alot, cuz i have bra strap length hair and it is shedding alot are do i just need to do a big chop for it to stop

  • Would putting your hair in a ponytail and using a rubber band at the ends of your hair to help evenly line your trims help? This is normally what I try to get a nice even bunt cut. But either way, your ends look much better and thicker even after your trim. It'll grow back. :) Good luck!

  • I feel you when you said it will grow back. I have to remind myself of that all the time.

  • Oooo my heart hurt when you cut-cut-cut lol. But your hair is so gorgeous and like you said "it will grow back" (prob already has). Love your vids love!

  • @bubblena23 when not wearing weaves.

  • @bubblena I know that feeling all too well, but I finally gave my hair the time to grow and be natural and.I love it...but I loved .my relaxed hair also, as long as you care for your hair and you( anyone) love it that's all that matters...I live my love for relaxed hair life through Megan lol her hair is gorgeous and I love how she cares for it...I'm on the go a lot so I wear a lot of sew ins so I don't want to relax my hair and not take care of it, so I just keep it braided or wear up do's ....

  • Love your videos. I think you are adorable. But you would be surprised at how fast your hair will grow back if you were to get rid of those thin ends. I understand wanting to focus on length, because I've always had long hair myself, but every time you do one of these videos and turn around I cring and yell out "Megz just chop those ends girl" lol. Just my opinion which means nothing to anyone but myself lol...but I had to finally share. Still a fan!

  • babygirl i have to say you have a head full of beautiful hair,,you doing something right boo,,keep it up

  • Your ends looks great so does our hair overall!

  • i like your hair length.... but i would be happy at least with armpit length....

  • The Nefertiti shirt is super cute!!!

  • Comment removed

  • The hair at the back of your head is more shorter than the top half of your hair.

  • looks great the end do look better! good job:)

  • Your ends look great !!

  • If u want the "problem area" gone why don't u just take 2-3 inches off so everything looks nice and healthy

  • @lenalici0us89 only bc its just something I wish not to do at the moment Im growing out my hair and maintaining them how i wish at the moment im kinda doing a trial on how my hair grows and its characteristics

  • i just love watching your videos!! you inspired me to start my own hair journey i'm almost APL! :) just wanted to say thank you for all that you're doing

  • I like your thickness also...your hair is getting thicker over time and its noticeable and your hair is fuller and healthier in appearance...good job also...natural looking layers always look way better then blunt cuts...so don't worry about it. It looked very nice.

  • Kind of explains where all your length went.

  • Your hair is so .pretty...I've been natural for almost 2 years now and I really want to relax .my hair...but I can't bring myself to do it...I love my texture...and um blessed enough to be able.to achieve bone straight hair with minimal heat and having natural hair...but I do love your hair care and process your so pretty also.

  • @BlkChnDoll having relaxed hair is the best feeling :P it just matters how much you take care of it when it is relaxed

  • I'm not sure if anyone has ever said this to you before (I'm a new subscriber)....but you remind me of Miranda Bailey from Grey's Anatomy.

This is not meant to be an insult. I love your personality...just that you remind me of her. =)

  • Comment removed

  • aww man u cut off alot!! more than a inch looks like but it was a good video especially trying put your hair at risk tryin to cut n record lol i couldnt do it ill be from rapunzel to snowwhite length
