  • They just look lovely

  • @sandhiya3 They tasted great too.

  • I got my allotment this year to in June, but have still managed to grow potatoes, beans, carrots and a few other things..I love bringing home a box with veg in, and cleaning them up to eat! Can't wait until the spring now : )

  • @eatsoupwithafork Glad you've had such a great start. There's nothing like eating veg that you've just harvested. Start planning now for Spring.

  • Lovely harvest Claire. I got my allotment this Easter and have been watching your vids all summer. I've had some success, with certain potatoes, french and runner beans, peas, beetroot and especially onions, they've been huge! Got a nice butternut squash growing too, can't wait for that to mature!

  • @gdeclarke Glad you're having fun on your new allotment. Enjoy your butternut, I've grown them before, but only got small ones. I'll try next year, hopefully with more success.

  • Love your posts..check out Full Circle Plant and Soil Food, it works wonderfully.

  • @woringersteve Had a look on their Facebook page, looks great.

  • Nice on clair keep your vids coming they are great

  • @tezal I'm glad you find them enjoyable. Thanks.

  • not a bad harvest, and of course great garden.

  • @lifearoundhome I'm quite proud of it.

  • I love Claire's Allotment garden savvy...and her accent. Snootchy bootches!

  • 09.03.10 Hi Claire! Would you mind explaining what growing media you use for your starter seedlings? You've said compost, but is it the compost made at your allotment, or do you formulate your own? Thanks for any reply, and congrats on a successful growing season.

    Wanda

  • @birdladyWanda Hi Wanda, I just use multi purpose compost from the local DIY store. The compost from the allotment I put on the allotment beds. I tried 1 year to use home made compost, but all sorts of other plants grew, mainly weeds.

  • Awesome, Claire. Your vegetables look great. lol we put so much effort into the growing phase we forget to take pics of the end result. Lots of mine doesnt even make it to the camera as the kids eat the strawberries, snowpeas, small broccoli, parsley and mint as they are picked.

  • @sadia102 I'm surprised so much makes it home, as I do like to nibble whilst I'm there. You can't beat picking and eating straight away though it's the best. Enjoy your harvest.

  • Nice little harvest you have there and im happy coz you sound so excited about it, thats how i get and people just look at me as if im a nutter haha, well done

  • @ukgardener1 They do the same to me, but I don't mind if they think I'm a bit odd. When I pulled up a huge carrot there was no one about, but I still squealed with happiness.

  • ooo lovely, have had a good bounty from my plot too...got the plot in March, am so pleased. Will be looking to your site for planting ideas for over winter. Thanks yum yum! :)

  • @createrainbowz Hope you've got a great harvest this year. Plan now for next year and write lists of when bits need planting then you don't forget anything. Enjoy your harvest this year.

  • Lovely harvest, Claire..I see your potatoes did better than last year..did u do anything different this year that made a difference? Mine were just a few medium sized ones that I did in trash barrels but I did not water or fertilize them w/manure much.

  • @kokonutbaby1 Some of the potatoes are doing better than others. The mids and the lates are doing better, but the earlies weren't so good. I tend to try different potatoes every year just for a change really. I should make notes really, but never do. I did exactly the same with the soil as I always do, maybe it was the weather, it was very dry at the beginning of the year. Couldn't get the potatoes in til later because the ground was still too hard from the frosts.

  • YOu cannot beat homegrown veggies

  • @powerspade I know, they're wonderful.

  • You had a lovely boxful of produce Claire that should keep you and your family going for a little while, I am growing beetroot, onions, runner beans and French beans too :-)

  • @richardpeej I was so chuffed with what I came home with. I've cooked the beetroot and they're now cool enough to peel. Enjoy your harvest.

  • Nice harvest!

  • Yum Yum. I let my runner beans get a big too big, and they got a bit stringy. We could have done with a bit more sun this August.

They say we're gonna have flash floods here in Swindon tomorrow, .. might pull my onions up.

  • @bonnie43uk If they get too big then leave them on the plant to go dry and use the seeds next year. I prefer to pick them smaller, then all you need to do is top and tail them. Hope you didn't have floods, we had some rain last night, not as much as I was expecting, but enough to not water.

  • what a great little veg box you got there...

the funny shape carrots are cool atleast you know they have not been messed with geneticly when the veg are mis shapen..just like they used to be and should be

  • @smoketweed09 Misshapen veg always tastes better. I wonder if they sold them in the supermarket if customers would buy them?

  • yay first view. great harvest this year!

  • @CardModFilms And I've still got loads more to harvest. Can't wait.
