I'm a great fan of both shows, less so a fan of the current writing of FG (they've lost their way, it's not the same, nor is it as funny as it used to be before it was cancelled that first time), but a fan of FG nevertheless. FG is, more or less, reminiscent of The Simpsons, but that's how these things are.

You can't deny the originality in style of the original FG. Both shows spoof off everything, the only difference is that FG has gone overboard now.

But the reason is, is they often make references to late 70s to late early 90s american pop culture. Things people in my gen grew up with get..and they do a great job at that. But the comedy is still one dimensional. You cant compare a show like the Simpons to family guy. Granted, the simpsons hasnt been that great in years...but if you grew up in the late 80s and early 90s,
