I have the savage mark 2 bv with a 12 to 24 power scope and I love it ..have you been practiceing since you posted this video 2 and 1/2 years ago if so i bet you have moved up to 100 yards by now thats when it get harder to hit the bulls eye ...good vid
@CharlieDoan the gun came with steel sights and I had it for about a year just using the steel sights. Then I decided to get a scope on it. It's a tasco scope. Perfect for me..i think it was about $75 USD which is on the low side price-wise. It's really simple. Simple zoom, simple focus and simple drop and windage knobs
Respond to this video... I think that the .22 savage rifles that come with a scope straight from the factory do not have iron sights. But I ordered one without the scope so it came with iron sights. Thanks for watching the vid
damn son, 350 yards! I moved and can't find a nice shooting range!! The only one I found that isn't indoor has a 100 yard rifle range. It's basically a long hallway with no roof.
@keejookyra Not a bad choice, I have a Marlin 60 which is like a 10/22, and I want to get a Marlin Bolt Action model 925. Apparently one is not enough for us.
Great rifle! My first shot, about 100 yards away, I said "I'm going to shoot that leaf!" sure enough, I pull the trigger and the leaf flys up in the air. (and it was the first time I've shot a real gun)
Yup, just found the scope's ranges, 3x9x40. Basically perfect for target shooting. I haven't yet to go and hunt, but I'm anxious to find out what it can do!
@capsolo99 thanks :D i will need it for my .22 even though it has a scope on it im planning to take it off, because once your acustomed to your scope you get spoiled with it lol. Also it aws a cheap one that was 10 dollars soi prefer a more clear scope.
Ha ha looks bad ass right?!...got it at wally world. I'm sure it's not even close to quality for a pro but I like it. I was suprised that since it's from wal mart it actually is pretty damn solid. I think for 30 or 40 bucks it's pretty good. Cant remember how much it was.
Nice shooting. I am considering the Savage as my first .22LR rifle purchase. Any pros, cons or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Sincerely, JAMES.
not bad for a beginner :) at 50 yards i have groups of 1 to 1.5 inch, you should try to find a higher mount for a 4x scope up to 300-400 yards, then you can prob hit up to 4 inch in a 100yard range. Keep shooting :)
Very nice. I picked this video because the left-bolt action. I too am looking for a left-bolt action rifle. Savage is my gun my friend. .308 though. Anything you don't like about the gun? Functionally speaking.
I own it. Let me bring you up to date. It's an accurate little gun, but the rear sight needs to be better. I can only adjust it so well Im still shooting high at fifty yards. There are some bullets that won't eject from the gun. Winchester bulk, remingtons. IT loves cci. Havent had any problems with the mini mags. Anyways, you get what you pay for. The gun doesn't have anything fancy just a solid shooting rifle.
Functionally speaking it works great. Stays accurate after hundreds of shots. It's my first gun. I don't like how sometimes I have to secure the clip with my hand in order to load or else it may jam. Any ideas on how to fix that?
The accutrigger is awesome. I have not adjusted it AT ALL because it was set perfectly for me right out of the box.
I own one and I have jamming issues too. Every rifle is different, you'll find that the ammo you use may make a difference, so try different types of ammo.
Unfortunately I don't quite know...my scope isn't powerful enough to see far enough. In addition I'm a beginner AND the range I go to is uphill so I'd have to adjust for the height and drop...but. I've been told that these things are as accurate as they can be so I would love to get a high powered scope and go for 300.
Thank you for watching my video! This is my first rifle and I use it for target practice. Before I bought this rifle I looked into the best gun I could buy with what I was willing to spend ($200 USD).
I found that Savage .22 rifles are considered really accurate, well-made guns and that they are easy to maintain. I was told that they are very accurate right out of the box. They sell for under $200USD. I bought mine at a small town hunting shop and paid $180 for it.
They sell for less at larger chain stores like Bass Pro Shop and Gander Mountain and those stores sometimes sell the gun with a scope. I bought mine at the local place because the owner is left-handed and It's a left-handed bolt-action.
The Mark II has an accu-trigger feature which allows you to set the sensitivity of the trigger. I haven't changed it at all because it involves removing the barrel from the stock and plus i was comfortable with the sensitivity it was set at when I bought it.
They sell Mark II rifles in both semi-auto and bolt action and you can get both left and right handed models. I got the bolt action because I like to have a few seconds to rest between rounds, it's easier to clean, and the round packs more punch than a semi-auto.
They come in either regular .22 or .22 Magnum. Since I only shoot for target practice I bought the regular .22. In addition at $15 for a box of 550 rounds, .22 ammunition is cheaper than .22 magnum.
I bought it without an optical sight and had the gunsmith sight it (took about 3 minutes and wherever you buy the gun they should be able to sight it in for free). I also bought an extra clip for $19 which I think was expensive but worth it to have an extra 10 rounds there for you to switch over to.
I took it out and learned to shoot it without an optical sight and I am very pleased at the accuracy of it.
It took a while to learn to use the iron sights but I've been able to shoot fairly accurate at about 50 yards standing up without a stand, and at about 100 yards with it resting on a block.
Later on I bought the rockstand bi-pod for about $40 at walmart and then later on a TASCO world class 3x-9x50mm scope. I am pleased with the scope and the accuracy of it but wish I had bought a higher magnification scope because it's very accurate at 100 yards and I would like to shoot even farther!
I clean it after about 250 shots but I've never had any decrease in accuracy so I'm sure you could keep firing it without cleaning it for a long time. It's easy to clean.
So basically as a beginner, for the price this rifle is extremely accurate and easy to maintain and I enjoy going out to the range and spending time shooting.
I've been told that magnums are good for shooting small animals (rabbits, squirrels, groundhogs) but I don't know for sure because I just target shoot.

Is that very easy to adjust the scope? Scary if you loose scope ......and you do not have Iron sights!! 100% handicap depend on the scope?

@VideoMan911 Not completely necessary it's a pretty quiet gun but it's always smart to wear eye and ear protection regardless

That's great. Were you using a scope? It's fun to shoot without the scope too. I am surprised at how accurate the gun is.
I'd love to get a huge scope and be able to hit accurately from a very farrrr distance.
Safe shooting

Yup, I'm pretty sure it's a 3x9 scope. At full zoom it's fairly inaccurate, I knew I shouldn't have goten to the gun store to do it for me! Haha
