Robert Belgrade was a much more suitable voice for a character like Alucard than someone like Yuri Lowenthal, who apparently specializes only in voicing angsty, teenage boys. I'll admit that Al is rather angsty, and I realize he's immortal and physically young, but I doubt he stopped aging at THIRTEEN.

I agree that they could might have gotten someone better than Mr. Belgrade, but the answer was definitely NOT in Yuri Lowenthal. Lowenthal was an awful choice.

Alucard had better voice acting in the PSX version. In fact, the entire PSX version had better voice acting (except for the orgasmic death scream, maybe). The new script however, makes more sense and fits the game better. My opinion.

Generic or not, there's no point getting butthurt over changes to a game if the original version is still available (Xbox 360 has it, and PSP Archives, w/e that is, has it).

Yes the voice acting may be better and the script makes more sense and is more faithful to the japanese BUT the voice texture of the original cast was much better and had more emotion. The optimal would be: keep the original cast (keep the fans happy), correct some of the script and make the voice actors perform each line perfectly

I first played the old SOtN when I was about 13 years old, and it's always been one of my favorite games of all time.

The old voices were corny, but they made an impression on us (the fans) that makes it hard to like the new ones.

But you know what? I think the new ones are better. Alucard's voice was always WAAAY too deep for how feminine he looked, and the original Succubus had an awful voice!

This scene is very well done. Alucard killing her at the end, sentencing her to oblivion!

You're probably right, but for Alucard his voice always seemed much too deep, at least to me. A lighter, younger voice fits pretty well, IMO, although I still like the old one too.

As a half-vampire, Alucard doesn't age, right? Then it stands to reason he wouldn't have a voice that sounded too much older than what his body looked like.

Anyway, this is a great game that has truly withstood the test of time. I've made it "required gaming" for my younger cousins ;-)

I guess it's a matter of which dub you heard first. First time I played it was a pirate game, everything ws in japanese, so I didn't really understood anything. Then I buy the psp version. I was hearing the original dub voices. And, hilirarious as they were, I've gotta say I like this better.
