For scientific reasons, to be honest. Rats may be cute and cuddly, but they're vermin which means that they don't benefit the ecosystem at all. Kinda like mosquitos, but rats aren't parasites obviously. Rats only exist as a part of the food chain (to be eaten by snakes). They're harmful to humans and the environment and all they do is destroy and cause sicknesses. Like the black plague I believe it was called. Correct me if I'm wrong.

@TTBigWinky actually a friend of mine is into exotic animals& has bred the domestic fancy "Dumbo" rat said compared to the big african rats they breed for the pet market - that as CALM as these are in the WILD - they could make a GREAT pet bc the african rats r hard to handle so if u took a few &bred them out &raised the babies exposed to humans being handled all the time it could catch on & be a real CRAZE in the exotic pet business - but GETTING some to start with is HARD bc of their location
