@jayfudge I have thought this for a long time, but Jim Henson is the only person I would want to bring back to life if I could, other than my Grandma...
A man whose magic has brought education, magic and fantastic melodies to adults and children.
I'm 28 and I still remain streadfast that Sesame Street is THE reason why I was able to spell years ahead of my level.
I still enjoy the music today and I am saddened that people may age (and younger) fail to appreciate what I see in his work...magic!
wth. why dont the writers put on any more kermit sketches? Sesame workshop still has the right to air them i think. These new ones suck anyway without frank oz. I guess the new generation of kids will grow up not knowing kermit the frog
@brianklick: Disney owns Kermit, remember? Although he should really still be owned by the Hensons, IMO, Kermit is now officially a part of The Muppets of The Muppet Show, Muppet Babies, and Muppets Tonight, even though he debuted on Sesame Street first.
@dubs19842008: Everyone in Family Guy & similiar shows could learn a lesson in humility, because those shows make things for a cheap laugh, without a care of anything being sacred.
I haven't seen this bit in the longest time... wasn't there a group of like biker dudes who appeared at the very end as well, or was that a different bit?
When I was young, I did not understand what this song is all about. I was 8 years old around that time. When Disney owns Kermit and the Muppets, Sesame Street without Kermit disappears in my memory.
Well, it could have been worse. The garbage man could have opened the bag and emptied everything out into the pond. Instead he placed the whole bag itself. Not good for the ecosystem by any means, but at least it's easy to fix.
Well he already had a soda can in the pond, dirty air from the boat fuel, and an awful noise from the radio before the garbage bag full of garbage was tossed in. And with "Cleaning this all up again could take us years and years." I agree it,s not as bad as pouring the garbage out,but the worse damage was already done. :(
I definately remember this one-Kermit had the best songs-didn't he? I think that there actually was a song called "On my Pond"-or was it "On My Own"-either way I bet this is spoofing it.

lol @ how badly that radio music clashes with Kermit's song.
I loved this so much.

Yeah poor guy. He might have been saved if he had gone to hospital when he had his first signs of sickness.
moatguy 2 years ago 2
Where Kermit is looks too big for a pond. Looks more like a lake.
moatguy 2 years ago
This is such a sweet song. Kermit's message of keeping his enviroment clean
proves to be powerful. Sort of sad at some parts, but a serene song all the way through.
DCism 2 years ago 2
very true. can't imagine how many sketches in the works were canceled when he passed away. What an influence he had
brianklick 2 years ago
This one always upset me when I was a kid. It was an important message, but wow. Sad.

@TherealRNO Actually, Kermit first appeared in 1955 on a local TV show Jim made (where he got his start) called Sam & Friends.
TheGrapelettes 3 months ago
@TheGrapelettes: Yes, but he was nothing more than a puppet then. He became The Frog on Sesame Street.

I remember an episode of Family Guy, where someone could've taken a lesson from this song.

this song is so sad. think about it, and its exactly what the animals would say if they could talk. "who said you could dump your garbage here?"
ayame316 4 years ago 6
Well it also teaches us that because animals can't talk they need us to speek up for them and protect them and their homes.

I like this song. I cannot believe they threw away trash on the pond. They should throw away trash in the trash can.

That,s what the song is about. Keeping ponds clean.

With the dumpping of garbage bit I think it,s funny how Kermit sings it,but not how the garbage gets dumpped :( Poor Kermit.

To be alive.
Yes, it is online.
We're Alive was sung by Little Chrissy and the Alphabeats. That is also on here.

I have that version in an mp3. But I've been more accustomed to the TV version.
