  • Long Live Judith xx

  • what an amazing lady, i never get tired of listening to her lovely voice, i think she is just great.

  • Encore, encore. This was amazing, Judith. You have a wonderful gift, and we of the international brother- and sister-hood thank you for sharing it with us. We have greatly enjoyed your songs, and I have no doubt they will echo through the ages to come. Thank you, Judith. <3

  • i love this song still makes me cry 45 years on

  • In a interview after this performance Judith said:" It was just amazing,I didn’t think anybody would be interested in me. All those young people.”

The standing ovation she gets at the end says othervise.

  • This is a classic moment of australian music history actually. The look on her face at the audiences applause says it all.

  • Thought this was great in 1968--now think nothing could ever be better than Judith's singing!

  • Brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat, just as it did in 1968. Absolutely beutiful....Yes i am a guy too.

  • so lovely ahhhh so good

  • Judith's voice is a marvellous gift from God. May God continue to bless her with good health, happiness and long life. She is an amazing lady with simply an AMAZING voice. What is even more amazing that given her age, she keeps herself so well. Careful diet, avoiding over-straining her voice, and a healthy lifestyle. Other pop stars who have come and gone have ruined themselves through drugs and alcohol.

  • one fab singer, i am 52 and listend to my dad playing the seekers when i was i lot younger, so glad i listened, whinehouse listen and learn.

  • I love you Judith.

  • wow, im 52 now and this song still gives me goosebumps and a tear to my eye, Judith, i will never find another you.

  • @merc500clk hi,im 52 as well, judith was my mothers fav singer, ive just bought their greatest hits, this particular track brings tears to my eyes as well, yeah n im a man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whenever I watch this I'm not only taken by the beautiful rendition but also how anyone could miss such a performance such as the ignoramus who strolls back into the auditorium at 2.55 just catching the end. It's not often that the backing musicians applaud the vocalist on stage as they do at the end here. The sight also of Judith at the start struggling to adjust the microphone stand just adds to the magic. Simply perfect as the entire audience who award her a standing ovation recognise.

  • Still perfect!

  • I suggest anyone who is feeling down or sad listen to this heavenly rendition. Afterwards if you don't feel a whole lot better check your heart is still beating because you can't still be alive. All performed by an artist who after all these years still enjoys delighting an audience and looks genuinely flattered by the thorough;y deserved adulation.

  • OMG Judith is almost 70? How does she do it?? I don't care - please don't stop!! You're an ANGEL!!

  • Super song !

  • The one and only Judith.Beautiful angelic voice, the best you'll ever get,no more said!!..Incredable....We love you Judith xxx...

  • The voice of my youth...the voice of my country.

  • @mick47willis Your right there mate, for millions of us around the world she has been the voice of Australia for 45 years now.

  • Judith Forever!!

  • This is great! I love it. Truly amazing voice!

  • What do you Australians eat/drink to keep as beautiful as this lady .Not just the fantastic voice, looks but the wonderful charisma carries into everyones heart. Lovely Thanks

  • there are only four ladies who graced the music world with their singing voices

doris day judith durham karen carpenter and olivia newton john .

  • This is absolutely brilliant! What a voice to have lasted for so long! Judith is incredible and I love her as much now as I did in the sixties when i first heard her!

  • Judith is the best, I thinks all Australians should be proud of her:)

  • Did anyone know the Seekers have reformed again recently to perform with the violinist Andre Rieu? Great news, I think I read it on the Seekers group.

  • Judith is more than amazing, be it 1965 or 2009, she must have been sent by the Angels for our pleasure, because we are truly blessed to continue to enjoy her music, her goodness, and from her many friends in San Francisco. the carnival will never be over, music endures

  • saw them peform in sydney at the Olympics - brought back memories of my mum getting ready to go out - thanks for posting

  • her voice is exactly the same as it was in 1968!

  • No one can do "The Carnival is Over" like Judith Durham. A beautiful song by a beautiful singer.

  • Wow, her voice is stil so strong. Amazing. I love her.

  • love judith durham and i think she looks amazing age is irrelevent when it comes to singing talent shes the best there ever female singer out of australia.

  • Brill

  • As judith was born in 1945, she was 64 when this was recorded. Amazing

  • @shadow020488 judith was born in 1943

  • and she has the same nice hair from 40 + yrs ago too

  • absolutley brilliant!

  • Absolutely love this performance, I'm so glad that we can still listen to her beautiful voice!

    Love, from a Dutch fan.

  • Magnificent, Judith, you defy time from an American fan

  • How does that voice never change? It just blows the mind as does the music! :)

  • Bloody wonderful...lovely lady and beautiful voice!

  • ! always remember that Grandmother had a signed photograph of the seekers - I think that I have it somewhere! And I do admit to being in my 50's now! I watched Judith Durham on the TV a few years ago - 'Diamond Night' - my wife and I bought the video! And now I seem to have discovered these You Tube videos. Well, the Seekers are still brilliant and if I could choose just one record to take on my desert island it would be 'the carnival is over'. Judith Durham is timeless - the absolute BEST!

  • cant get over how good she still sounds , i felt like standing up and clapping myself at the end of the song

  • @DualImpactUK

I am afraid to admit that I did!

  • een geweldig mooie vrouw met een fantastische stem

  • Thank God for YouTube! I can't believe Judith Durham sounds and looks great after 40 plus years.

  • O My God she is the true lady of popular music still sings in the same key at 65

  • A lovely, lovely lady who is timeless. Her voice is simply beautiful..... and oh - the memories!

  • Beautiful performance, how lovely. So touching and sad.

i sang this song myself recently in a concert, no match for Judith of course ;)

  • Wow! What a performance....

Musical anoraks will note this is a semitone lower than the original; but even as her voice mellows it's lost nothing of its dynamics; clearly this is someone who sings for the sheer joy of singing...

What's all the more remarkable is that I seem to recall her saying in an interview that she has a touch of lung trouble! As an Asthamatic myself I sympathise; but I wish I has a fraction of her power and control! Simply AMAZING!

  • She was terrible shy when she was young but her joy for singing was so strong that she forced herself to go and ask bands in Melbourne if she could sing with them. What she must have gone through.

  • I read she has suffered with the condition from her early years (which I didnt know) - I don't know the name but it has left her with only 1/3 lung capacity, which I think makes it even more incredible she can sing how she does. Amazing.

  • Judith has had a lung condition called bronchiectasis most of her life and it leaves her breathless at times.

So your right, it's incredible she can sing as she does.

  • @Proculledtwo I guess that is fair - she leaves us breathless at times.

  • Judith, We'll never find another you!

  • Just like Karen Carpenter, Judith Durham's voice make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up ! Two of the worlds best female vocalist who can really reach your inner thoughts & emotions. Check out the Seekers version of 'If you go away', i wonder how many of you will have a tear in your eye....

  • This was my late mothers fave song.. plus open up them pearly gates.

  • Judith

    We love you in America!

    Do a US tour.

  • I have a feeling we will never see her outside Australia again. But then,I many times don't trust my own feelings.

  • What an amazing voice for 65, Judith seems so gracious and warm when she sings.

  • Just beautiful Judith!

  • Class all the Way

    Thanks Judith

  • Unbelieveable to think she was born in 1943. What an amazing voice for 66 years of age

  • Judith,

We all still love you. Cannot you be tempted into more touring in the UK?

  • Judith has a wonderful voice, still now. I used to sing this over and over and it takes me back to when we used to have the words to songs easily available, in wee bookies!!

  • it is on xmas day in 1979 when this song on the radio brought tears to my eyes for the pretty little girl who broke my heart. I still love you so, Margaret and I hope that one day you will find this message from my heart,.

  • she is simply the best female vocalist ever.

  • Class is permanent!!

  • The only thing missing from this transcendent performance: two guitars, a bass, and "the boys" to play them...

  • Amen to that.

  • ....what a great lady with such a voice!wish we had such a lady like Judith,in Holland

  • Absolutely wonderful to hear & see Judith again! I hope more videos will appear

  • A true entertainer - as warm and genuine as always. Such class

  • She still has a great voice more than 40 years later... beautiful. One of the saddest songs ever, and still it touches you.

  • Her voice is still there after all of these years. A true musical angel !

  • how I love her!!

  • Perhaps if some of those "Pop Tarts" of today took the time to study Judith's life they'd have careers that last more than a couple of years.

  • she is still the BEST, and always will be, thy just dont, make them like this any more

  • Wonderful performance from a truly beautiful and gorgeous lady!...The magic is still there!

  • Judith is a goddess!

  • 2009! The girls still got it!
