dutch marines are the strikeforce of the dutch military and it operates with small but heavily armed infantry units and can come in action anywere in the world were needed.usmc are good as a large strikeforce but not as good trained elites as dutch marines fact.

The Swedish actually have one of the best stealth ships around. As for the Russian navy, it's mostly falling into a pile of junk. Most of their old nuclear submarines are, literally, rusting away in their harbor. The amount of accidents that happen on their shipyards is incredible. However, the Dutch have far from the best navy in the world. They've got one of the quickest and maybe most useful as support vessels. But, compared to the navy of the United States, we're nothing.

Because, you know, you can make a cruiser as polygonal as you want and put as much anti-radar coating as you want on it, it still won't be stealthy. Ships are expensive and all navies in the world, and by navies i mean naval forces with ships bigger than a crappy frigate, which excludes the Belgian navy, use ships from the 70's 80's.

Even the US navy can't build them in large numbers, their cost is way too high in comparison to their usefulness. A "stealth" frigate has a reduced radar profile, but will still be detectable by most radars and can't evade modern missiles. And the Dutch certainly aren't more advanced than anyone with today's radar technology.

Your biggest ships are four enlarged frigates, while all big countries usually have over a dozen of them or at least some destroyers. Stealth technology on any ship bigger than a missile boat is only partial (no reduction of detection range) and can only lead the enemy to underestimate the class of the ship. This partial stealth does not make the ship invisible or untouchable.

Partial stealth makes it easier to camouflage among cargo ships but certainly not better than any other frigate/destroyer in a fleet action. And you only have 4 of this class. Landing ships are purely offensive and completely useless against a US navy carrier (larger fighter wing) or against any missile-armed ship.

In 2040, there should be 75 of them. That's normal though, they are planned to become the only missile ship class in service with the USN.

@bleushift French LaFayette, Turkish national frigate, Chinese type 54, most German corvettes/frigates, the Singapore copy of the LaFayette, British type 54, Indian P 17... All these are stealth as well.
The SMART-L is the best naval radar in the world, no contest about that, but certainly not the only one to detect stealth objects, especially ships. It has a range advantage, but only useful against planes because of the earth's curvature.

The Russians have around 85 missile capable ships and 40 submarines. And Russian diesel electric subs are among the best in the world.

@dennis5294 If you're talking about coastline defense, it's true that the very large coast of Russia spreads the fleets thinly, but that size also has an advantage, as it allows for monitoring a much larger area of water, which in turn allows to stage large defensive operations while remaining in territorial waters. With a small costline, the defense plans would be limited to a simple blockade which limits the capability of resistance against a bigger navy.
@dennis5294 About the radars/sonars, i don't think the Russians have a lot of backwardness in comparison to the western standards, especially since the technology evolved rather slowky since the end of the cold war. But you're right about the personnel, only the naval construction workers are keeping a decent level of skill. And stealth for anything larger than a patrol boat is only partial.

The time necessary to train new crews, especially officers, partially explains the long time necessary to re-comission old ships or comission new ones. But the ships currently in service maintain a pretty good level of readiness. However, if the Russian navy actually goes on with these useless aircraft carriers they are talking about, training the personnel will be an entirely different story.

You have a lot of Arleigh Burke ships that haves a radar range of 190km. The Zeven Provincien haves a radar range of 480km. And the Zeven Provincien are detecting stealth. The Swedish actually have one of the best stealth ships around. As for the Russian navy, it's mostly falling into a pile of junk. Most of their old nuclear submarines are, literally, rusting away in their harbor. The amount of accidents that happen on their shipyards is incredible. However, the Dutch have far from the best navy in the world. They've got one of the quickest and maybe most useful as support vessels. But, compared to the navy of the United States, we're nothing.

Seriously, what the hell was THAT ? Weekend hunters would be better soldiers than these guys. They come in an obvious chopper, take all their time to disembark and then stand completely exposed on that container. Then, they take a stroll to the bridge while firing a few shots in the air. Because, you know, you can make a cruiser as polygonal as you want and put as much anti-radar coating as you want on it, it still won't be stealthy. Ships are expensive and all navies in the world, and by navies i mean naval forces with ships bigger than a crappy frigate, which excludes the Belgian navy, use ships from the 70's 80's.

Even the US navy can't build them in large numbers, their cost is way too high in comparison to their usefulness. A "stealth" frigate has a reduced radar profile, but will still be detectable by most radars and can't evade modern missiles. And the Dutch certainly aren't more advanced than anyone with today's radar technology.

Your biggest ships are four enlarged frigates, while all big countries usually have over a dozen of them or at least some destroyers. Stealth technology on any ship bigger than a missile boat is only partial (no reduction of detection range) and can only lead the enemy to underestimate the class of the ship. This partial stealth does not make the ship invisible or untouchable.

@dennis5294 The Zeven Provincien are officially air-defense frigates and, again, partially stealthy. No ship of that size can possibly evade detection. Partial stealth makes it easier to camouflage among cargo ships but certainly not better than any other frigate/destroyer in a fleet action. And you only have 4 of this class. Landing ships are purely offensive and completely useless against a US navy carrier (larger fighter wing) or against any missile-armed ship.

@MrStig691 They are heavy, possibly the heaviest destroyer class in the world with 10000 tons of displaced water, while other designs range from 4000 to 6000. 56 was last year, there are 60 in service now, one in trials, and another being built. In 2040, there should be 75 of them. That's normal though, they are planned to become the only missile ship class in service with the USN.

The SMART-L is the best naval radar in the world, no contest about that, but certainly not the only one to detect stealth objects, especially ships. It has a range advantage, but only useful against planes because of the earth's curvature.

@bleushift defence (that would be the Sea Sparrow), and it is about equivalent to the CIWS systems of other navies.
The Provincien can't launch ballistic missiles, they are air-defense ships, so that's just a lie and not a fact. Try harder next time.

@dennis5294 And stop with that comparison with the Russian navy, the Dutch have 6 frigates (ok, 4 half destroyers) while the Russians have cruisers, destroyers and are building a ton of frigates. Also, heavier ships are re-entering service (especially the kirovs) and i won't even start with the submarines. The sensor advantage of the Dutch ships is becoming increasingly irrelevant, their only real advantage is their partial stealth.

The Dutch navy haves the best diesel-electric subs in the world. also we have the NATO. you don`t. your navy haves 233 ships big and small I have counted to. the dutch navy haves 40 ships in service. about 2 jears is that 44 with the Corvettes. so your fleet is 5.29x bigger than that of the dutch navy. but your country is 410x bigger than that off the Netherlands.

@dennis5294 Don't play with the statistics. The only ships which would be useful to defend a coastline are guided missile ships and submarines. The Dutch have 6 frigates and 4 submarines. The Russians have around 85 missile capable ships and 40 submarines. And Russian diesel electric subs are among the best in the world.

that ships were you are thalking about are to weak. bad sensors, radars, no Stealthy, even the weapons and the personal is verry bad trained. the Dutch navy haves the best trained personal in the world.

@dennis5294 If you're talking about coastline defense, it's true that the very large coast of Russia spreads the fleets thinly, but that size also has an advantage, as it allows for monitoring a much larger area of water, which in turn allows to stage large defensive operations while remaining in territorial waters. With a small costline, the defense plans would be limited to a simple blockade which limits the capability of resistance against a bigger navy.

@dennis5294 About the radars/sonars, i don't think the Russians have a lot of backwardness in comparison to the western standards, especially since the technology evolved rather slowky since the end of the cold war. But you're right about the personnel, only the naval construction workers are keeping a decent level of skill. And stealth for anything larger than a patrol boat is only partial.

@dennis5294 Hey, there's a difference between less training and no training at all. The time necessary to train new crews, especially officers, partially explains the long time necessary to re-comission old ships or comission new ones. But the ships currently in service maintain a pretty good level of readiness. However, if the Russian navy actually goes on with these useless aircraft carriers they are talking about, training the personnel will be an entirely different story.
