Your cant compare waking a system from sleep and a cold boot as shown in this video and say the iMac is faster. They are two totally different booting sequences, from sleep this would go faster presumably. And this isnt even booting off a SSD in this video just a slow presumably 5400 RPM Notebook drive.
It's not exactly as fast as a waking up iMac running XBMC, but OpenELEC has promise. My hope is that they will get rid of the horrible bootload image and have a XBMC-themed loader.
