Number portability has been available with magicJack since May 2011. Also, with the magicJack Plus, no computer is required after registration. Also, if you click on a number in the calls list or phone book, there won't be a dial tone until you hang up the phone and try again.

What if the MJ box breaks or stops working? Does the customer loose the service and the number? Or does he/she can buy a new MJ for a lower price to replace the damaged one?

Your video was educational. Does magic jack has unlimited calls? Is magic jack subsequent subscription is $19.95?

@acdrago2 yes unlimited calls to like 95% of the usa. renewing the original magic jack is 20 bucks a year, but you need to use it through a computer. the new magic jack Plus is a lot more, its 30 bucks a year, and the unit itself also costs more. but plus doesn't require a computer.

I would not recommend individuals taking the 5 year plan because you will be tied to that particular MagicJack. Say you want to upgrade to a new product after a year or two, you will forfeit the remaining time on the plan with no credit or refund.

I ordered the Magic Jack Plus....because want to use MY HOME NUMBER. After I bought it, they tell me my number CAN"T be transferred! I have had this number for 30 years and have moved it from ATT to vonage to Optimumvoice..,.which is VOIP so not sure why MY number can't be transferred. They said to try later..... oops

It will work with any computer you plug it into and the better your connection the better it works.

Im thinking about using this for the house I'm about to move into. I currently just use my cell phone but a landline would be nice for at home. Do you have to use a main computer to have it established or can I plug it into 3 different computers around the house. I guess my question can be simplified as in, does it get synched to one computer only?
