Yamaha CS-15 Synthesizer Demo

I used to have this, even played it at Yokohama Stadium back in the day, but sold it to keep a CS5 because the 15 is heavier & frankly I couldnt see much of an advantage (other than occasional thicker sounds) for the "Bitimbral" aspect of the synth. I mean, you hook up another Yamaha monosynth to control the extra voice, but by having another synth you ve got an extra voice anyway! So unless there is a Yamaha CV/gate sequencer or drum machine that I never heard of, (CS30?) -anyone know of one?

@jansongs I agree it doesn't make much sense to plug another mono synth into the CS-15 to play it duophonic, but one could use a Korg SQ-10 to play 2 independent sequences from a CS-15. I don't think Yamaha ever made an external sequencer. Anyone?

I'm looking forward to picking one of these up as soon as the right one at the right price becomes available. The SH-2 is my favorite mono and I'm really looking forward to adding a CS-15 to the arsenal.

Everyone seems to say that CS10 has the best bass, even though it has one VCO. I am thinking about either CS5, CS10, CS15, which is one recommended for bass and leads? The CS15 has 2 VCOs but is that really important? Which CS synth is the "best". Yes its subjective, but any advice is appreciated.

SH-2 has better base sound?

The SH-2 is probably my favorite monosynth. Everything is clearly laid out and I can dial up a sound quickly. The SH-2 definately has the BASS. The CS-15 is capable of producing a wider pallette of sounds, though. Get both.

Since the CS-15 has a resonant high-pass filter, you can really boost the bass with the filter set to high-pass with high resonance and a low cutoff point!

Thanks for the kind words. I actually just sold this very synth used in this video a few days after making it. I still have another CS-15, but it's a keeper. I may be selling a CS20M since I'm running out of space.
