video sux but i love this song! Heading4 the 90's- ya I remember when the 90's sounded like the future......I dare anyone2 listen2 tgis song & not want2 dance!!
The day this song went # 1 in the US this band was playing Sweet Springs Saloon a bar that boasted to be the biggest, littlest rock club in the US. Maybe legally held 40 to 50 patrons. The day started calmly enough but by show time it was a mad house. Could you imagine their managers indignity having to let the band play a venue that small on that day. Limos up the yin yang and only local bar bouncers to police the crowd. Fortunately everything went off with out a hitch. Only in America.
I swear, I had this album on wax, when I was like 11, also had Dr Feelgood and a few others. (plus a shitoad of six inch record+story book combos, truly awesome)
looking at the clip now i reckon the lead singer looks like that dude out of the Aussie tv series "Neighbours" i think the guy in Neighbours is called Lucas but he doesnt have long hair like the escape club dude but the same sort of face how trippy hey lol
ok, simple question that has been bugging me since i 1st saw the video 20 yrs ago: who sings/talks the bridge? guitar player or bass player?? (both shown in the video singing/talking it). which one. from the sound of the bass players voice when he is speaking in the beginning, I am guessing the guitarist (or someone else) did it (and they just acted). Anyone have the liner notes from the album? thanks. (p.s. the 'bridge' is the Spanish/tongue roll part with, "this ones called the outlaw")
Pump up the thumbs alright. Oddly enough this song always seemed to be a rip off of Elvis Costello's Pump it up. Definitely an icon of the 80's though.
Remember this was No 1 for weeks in Australia when I was there in 1988. When I got back to UK after 12 months couldn't believe it never charted here. I was saying what about that great song Wild Wild West and nobody had a clue what I was talking about. Got all three of their albums. Great band, would love to see them live.
This was the first album someone gave to me. I remember moving from New Jersey out to Colorado and for some reason I listened to this album from start to finish a few times through, all the way there on my Walk-Man haha
For anyone out there who loves I'll be There and The Escape Club they've got a new song on You Tube which is amazing called '80's Love Song - it's amazing!
No it didn't chart in the UK because at that time to have a hit in the UK radio 1 had to play your record, they were quite happy to phone us up at 5 am in the morning when we were touring the US and say, Wow! isn't it great your number 1 in the states, but still wouldn't play our records........Strange!
The group has reunited for a new album, expected to be released in 2010, and actively provide updates on their band's Facebook page. The previously disbanded in 1992.

I must agree with GothGaara92 and his comment regarding WMG. They are nothing but corporate lice who only want more and more of the Yankee Greenback Dollar in their company coffers. To WMG it is every man for himself and the Devil take the hindmost. Good old Yankee Capitalist avarice, there is nothing else like it on Mother Earth.
dammit man, I had to download some sound editing ware cut out the entire annoying beginning where they talk and then resave all cause you thought it was a good idea, how do you expect people like me to completely abuse this site for personal gain when you make it so hard?!
Aaaahh this song brings back fond memories of the Barn Dance routine at Charlies country and western bar in Chicago! Great to get two massive circles going and switching partners throughout this song!!
When I first heard this song, I couldn't find the album anywhere. I lived in Delaware and this group was unheard of. My aunt from Hollywood had to mail me the album. I miss good finds like this one.
I think it's wonderful when we have a video from 20+ years ago with effects so basic and generally no longer used that it just doesn't occur to us now exactly how they did that.
It's just one arm/leg with a mirror making it appear to be a pair.
My favorite line is "Heading for the nineties Living in the wild wild west" which really dates the song now.
It was! When I came of age back in the late 80s and I went to a few strip clubs, there were hot girls dancing to this song wearing only a cowgirl hat, high heels and a big smile :)
This song was released back in 1988. I remember out in California when working and out for the evening to relax. Guys I was working with went into a dance club and ALL the hot girls coming over to use to dance with them. What a night.
I was 10 when this song came out, I loved it, and the video is awesome with the arms and legs. Me and my sister used to roller sk8 to this like every Sat. morning, good times.
I love this song so much. The reason I searched for this is because I just found the 45. In pristine condition. Thank you for posting this song....Wild Wild Hair!!
Wow. I loved this song as a kid and I still love it today. However, having finally watched this video for the first time, it makes me cringe a bit. Yikes. Brings back awesome memories anyway. Rock on 1988.

i totaly L-O-V-E-LOVE this song and i'm even only 13 wow rite!! i can never get this song out of my head it is ABSOULUTLY my favorite song in the WORLD!!!!!!!
You know how a video can ruin a great song? I realize that they probably had a miniscule budget, but why would someone think disembodied limbs are a good idea for this video?
Anyway, can someone tell me what they are saying between 3:30 - 3:52? I love this part, I just wish I could understand more than 5 words....
Brrrrrrring forth our voices like this cuz our people i've been waiting for, this ones called the outlaw, wow, say won't you act like a raegaen like you're riding a bike, shine on me, my raegaeshata when they shut in the night, so if u keep them rocking til the broad day light i give them the escape club to rock it so right !!!
Brrrrrrrrrrr here come this musical disc some people have been waiting for, this ones called the outlaw, wow say about me, ride a rythem like your riding a bike, jah no me, murder me chatter when me chat on the mike, sure this willl keep you rockin to the broad daylight, and here come this escape club to rock it so right!!!

The video was the thing that broke this song, MTV was in its heyday and they played it like eight times a day.
