  • After David Hockney's book, I look at Durer in a different light. Hockney makes a good case for the use of a camera lucida in the case of the wild grass as it is so photo-like. If true, I wonder if Durer killed the wildlife staged the scene, then used his camera obscura to trace an image? Audubon did kill his birds, place wires in them to form poses, then draw in ink and pastels and add backgrounds of their habitats. All art which has this life-like look could be done with the aid of optics.

  • I just discovered Albrecht Dürer minutes ago and I am absolutely amazed.

  • The art of petals of life

  • Obrigada pela linda apresentação..amo Durer e o contexto em que se insere sua obra!

  • In order to achive realism, it is about

    (1) Understand the anatomy on bone structure

    (2) Intepretation forms and values with understanding of planes construction and media

    (3) Be visually concious as the mind, eyes and hands works simultaneouslly.

    (4) SHARPENS all your pencil or charcoal please!

    (5) Last but not least, practice both hard and smart makes PERFECT!

  • i dont think you need to understand bone structure to draw realistic, if you just keep your eyes open, the bones cant be seen anyway.

  • Both my sis and I are geeks in art and mathematics. We mingle and teaches each other what we have learn from our lecturers or professors in Singapore. Together, we admire the great wisdom of Durer and Leonardo! Check us out and be our online friend okay? Yipi!

  • When I was around 8 or 9 yrs old. I would sometimes flip through my father's vast collection of art books. I was, and still am, in awe of Durer. His precision so incredible, yet never taking center stage to what he is communicating.
