that's exactl PETA does. They use scare tactics such as these to scare u. Whether it's a breeder or a shelter ITS UR CHOICE. However I oppose buyin from pet stores. But buying from a responsible breeder is fine! If you buy a dog it really is not going to kill one in the shelter directly. That's PETA's job. It's not like "a dog was bought, let's go kill another one in the shelter"!!!
I feel sad but that's life there's nothing you can do about it who wants to adopt from the shelters no one who wants to buy one everbody it's cus life nothing you
Can do about it it's not like the dog going to heaven or going to be some one important
@TheREALAmerican88 People who don't really think keep making this same stupid argument. First of all, the argument may be illogical and stupid but you didn't prove it. Maybe we should stop having so many babies. The real point is this; humanity bred pets. Pets can't choose. They are our responsibility and we are killing them by the millions just so we can "do what we want". Whatever our reasons, they are not good enough to justify all the killing.
it might be a better thing but if ppl start adopting dogs rather than buying them from breeders. but the dogs from the breeders will eventually end up in the shelter unless ppl buy them so i think its gonna be the same thing.
@SeRwl the overpopulation of animals is not to be compared w/ people. there are thousands of reasons that animals are dumped @ shelters or on the streets. look it up.
@TheREALAmerican88 you know nothing. look it up.thats a stereotype for animals in shelters. Yes,maybe there there is animal in your shelter like that, but do you really think it was born that way. Yeah, of course it was.
actually.. only 25% of dogs in shelters are purebreds.... check the humane society website. PETA should really use their money to support no kill shelters and to stop backyard breeders.
@mrsg1011 sorry but no kill is really slow kill. How would you like to live your life locked in a cage because no one is compassionate enough to put you out of your misery. Really, though it is sad to see animals go, we should try more to adopt, less killing or torture. Altogether shelters try to help animals but are not as good as a real home.
But I dont feel guilty..you know why? I'm my lifetime I have had many dogs and cats. How many have I created? ZERO! I spay/neuter every pet I get so PETA, don't go blaming me for the overpopulation in the animal shelters!
OOooohhh...I'm an extra bad person in PETA's eyes...I *gasp* bought a purebred kitten. Whoops..I guess by buying a purebred Persian I have single handedly filled the shelters with thousands of cats that irresonsible/cheap people created by not spaying their damn cats.
As for the whole dog thing...COME ON!! Buying a puppy does not make you a bad person. Its not the purebreed dog breeders that are filling up the animal shelters..its the dumbasses who dont spay/nueter their dogs and let them breed like rabbits with whatever dog comes their way.
do some research. 40% of the dogs in shelters are "pure breeds". where do you think they all come from? you think the dogs in the street are choosing to only mate with other dogs of the same breed... hmm... Breeders drop dogs off at shelters ALL THE TIME.
@kamiakpartigirl buying a puppy, you dont think your a bad person. next time you buy though go to your shelter and watch the helpless one be put down, and yes BECAUSE OF YOU. Your killing one so you may not be killing thousand, but thousands are killing one. 4 million dead pets.
@jlroesener : Really? Because of me? Because I am pretty sure I am not the one breeding Pitbulls and Chow mutts. But yes..even though I have never produced a single puppy or kitten (only given them homes) I am the reason for shelters. If I want to buy a purebred, that is my choice. If I want a Cavalier King Charles rather than a Pit-Chow-Lab-Rott I have that right. And btw..I own one dog right now. A mutt I picked up off the street. He is a great dog. But my next one will be a Cavalier. Sue me.
Basically what I am saying is that you shouldn't be mad at the people breeding purebreds (therefore continuing that certain breed). You should be mad at the ones who let their unspayed Heeler have playdates with the neighbors unneutered Shepard mix and then give the puppies away at a grocery store. If we stopped breeding purebreds, we would no longer have Labs, Dalmations, Cocker Spaniels, etc. Why should we let the BYB take control of breeding? So purebreeds can die out?
@kamiakpartigirl This is called "an idea in the abstract". It sounds good but is meaningless because it is never going to happen. Oh God I wish we had that problem instead of the one we have. Anyway, see here, being "mad" at breeder isn't the point. The point is, there aren't enough homes. ANYONE who lets or makes dogs breed are creating a problem. BUT real pro breeders can always do it. They just need to get a license - something many don't want to do.
@kamiakpartigirl get one from a shelter. i have been working at one for a year now and have seen 3 come in an these guys were not mixed. Mutts are all around better dogs anyways. I bet one of those chow mutts you talk about will have 10 times better health then any purebred.
@kamiakpartigirl get one from a shelter. i have been working at one for a year now and have seen 3 come in an these guys were not mixed. Mutts are all around better dogs anyways. I bet one of those chow mutts you talk about will have 10 times better health then any purebred.
Stupidppllikebsl... this entire overpopulation is because of breeders! There is no such thing as a responsible breeder. We don't kill humans in orphanages. But for some reason we consider ourselves better than animals sometimes. There is no need for breeders and pet stores. Period.
Wait, so because someone who bought a dog decided they didn't want the responsibility of a dog any more, no one else is ever allowed to buy a dog? Peta should worry more about making more shelters no-kill instead of targetting people who just want to care for a pet.
"Over 4 million animals die every year because people feel the need to buy one."
Ok where to start. This argument, unfortunately, doesnot make any sense. The dogs that ended up in shelters are the fault of irresponsible owners or people whofound themselves financially strapped, had to move etc etc. It has NOTHING to do with responsible breeders.
If you are upset dogs have to die in shelters then support no-kill shelters who don't euthanize animals.
hmm your right- through the organization we adopted from the dogs are put in foster homes and are trained so they don't get kennel cough. I think thats the greatest idea ever
@StupidppllikeBSL Breeders are killers, they even drop off the animals that they cannot sell @ animal shelters. ok, I'm w/ u. bsl is bs, you got the facts on that but look up animals in shelters. You might find sumthin u didn't know.
@jlroesener And there are thousands of reasons that children are dumped in care homes or on the streets. Look it up.
And don't assume that anyone who disagrees with this particular commercial disagrees with the idea of adopting in general... I have two dogs, both adopted and volunteer in a shelter... so don't make assumptions...
@StupidppllikeBSL I'm pretty sure you have no idea what your talking about. I work at a shelter an i see animals being taken to be put to sleep every day. THERE IS NO RESPONSIBLE BREEDER! The only reason breeders breed is to MAKE MONEY. The only reason i work at a shelter is to SAVE LIVES. With that being said do you still think breeding is okay and shelters are in the wrong?
Breeders purposefully create more dogs in countries which already suffer from severe dog overpopulation. It's wrong in the most blatant of ways.
Anytime I've had a friend mention wanting a specific breed I've went and simply looked at local rescue groups, I always found a dog of that breed, however they always went with a breeder. And yes that is, in turn, sentencing the dog in the pound, or another less attractive dog, to death.
thats pretty stupid. Whats wrong with breeders? you can know the background of the dog, the exact age, and breed and know it wasnt mistreated and how trusting it is.. Im not against adoption though

Over 4 million babies die every year because people feel the need to create one.
Create one, Kill one.
Don't procreate. Adopt!
This ad is just as illogical and stupid as the above sentiment.

Very very true. Hopefully through this video, more and more people will be persuaded to adopt or rescue from a shelter.

Cool ad bro. I'm sure everyone wants to adopt a potentially broken dog that's disfigured and will need to be given anti-depressants daily.

jlroesener 2 years ago
Does it really matter if it was born that way or made that way by a previous owner?
Either way it isn't a pet I'd want around my kids.
I will continue to buy from breeders, hasn't failed me yet. Each time I've gotten an amazing family dog with great health and longevity.
Never neutered or spayed any of them either. No need to. I keep my pets in line.
